SSP Demo V.2 for Oct. 27th

Yep, I know it does that. Keep going into the menu to a minimum (specifically the item part of it, because that creates an undisposed window). Or if you do, save right before you go into your item menu. I have fixed this bug for the final version, but I haven't had time to really update the demo.

I have also edited the blog now to point out what bugs I definitely know of. I had forgotten to do that.

I need an NPC that says that now.
it should definitely be one of the children

Hmmm... should it be the brat or the kid that tries out slang with Snowe around. :| Tough decisions!

The only ones important probably are the cornet, the mask, and the bead bracelet for upping Snowe's magic a bit in the beginning. I think I'll make it so you can find the cornet and mask after you get back to town (just through plot reasons the kids can't be handing those out a second time haha) so I don't have to completely toss my bosses out the window for people who may not have gotten them.

Star Stealing Prince

There was an item shop, Emmy. XD But yeah, I'll do a bit of rethinking. I think my problem is that I balance a game to how I play the game which includes exploring the heck out of maps and using buffs and debuffs when they actually work and make that part of my strategy against bosses, etc.

Hurray, you got through the demo Cozzer! Now we should hope the same for Max McGee.

But yes, anyone who has played the demo: don't feel shy about telling me if you legitimately think something is too hard (there is a difference between it being too hard or you not doing it right, but I figure you are all smart folks and are able to tell the difference!). I'm always second guessing myself on balancing so any thoughts about it is very welcome.

RMVX Game Over Crash

Well, it happens because something isn't there! So I don't know how to find it with a ctrl+shift+F. The only way I found the ones with mine were because I found a Debug Menu script (if you wanted to use it, I plopped it on pastebin for you) and just have a script call with "p $game_temp.undisposed_windows" and the game will make a popup show up telling you which windows aren't disposed. Some windows are never disposed though but those are normal. Though it only lets you know what windows are not being disposed, not necessarily the scripts that cause that I think.

I just had the script call in a common event, had an item activate said common event and did what I normally did in a game that would create the crash (like for you, test it before the battle, during the battle, I would say after but you would probably have to set up a battle event for that instead of using an item like I did) and use the item to check if the game made any undisposed windows.

Of course, if your problem isn't random undisposed windows, this isn't going to help much! :(

Haha yeah Snowe's the only one who has them in bookshelves. And I really lied because I just remembered there are three others later in the game. So nevermind about that point.

The book out of place I meant was the one you found in the room Snowe woke up in while in the Tower. That looks out of place to me, so maybe I wasn't clear on what I meant. So perhaps just disregard my rambling up there.

And you missed the Cozy Mantle in the Tower then in the room where you go on star glyphs and get teleported to another part of the map. There's a hidden passage through a wall to another glyph that leads you to the cozy mantle. But yeah, if you're having trouble, level 5 might be a good idea. At least then you'd have more HP to take a beating at the very least. Though, you didn't get Erio's Spare Suit? It's in the chest he's near when you find him in the tower.

;_; You're making Snowe into a jerk, Cozzer. Snowe isn't supposed to be a jerk! (Though you probably did get the gifts perhaps--couples give you a joint gift and siblings also give you a joint gift, so it's not like you'll have an item from every single person, just every single couple/sibling pair/lone kid or whatever).

But yes, I'll probably make it so you can't accidentally forget Snowe's first skills. The other ones are fair game however because I figure by then players should realize they are floating around random places as indicated by a little book sprite that looks out of place. And not usually in bookcases <_<.

And again, you don't have the mittens or the cloak equipped on Hiante do you? If he doesn't, he's going to freeze (and so will Snowe if he doesn't have either of them too if he's not one shotted). Though it shouldn't one shot Snowe, so I think I will tweak that a bit cause it really shouldn't even if he's weak against ice/water. Though it might if you didn't debuff the thing's magic... I think I will tweak that a bit because those items aren't able to be gotten again and that would make me a real evil game designer if I haven't reached that level already.

I know my second option is TEDIOUS, but it's a surefire way to figure it out if it is truly something script related. It just sucks doing it.

For a disposed window. It's a window rpg maker makes like for a menu that should be disposed when you leave the menu--i.e. it should go away. When it doesn't go away, that window remains and makes your game take up more memory I think and every time you return to the menu that made that window, it adds another window on top of that other window that didn't go away. Thus you are adding invisible windows onto your game which eventually overload it and it crashes. And of course the only way to look for it is to go through your game's scripts and check to make sure all windows are disposed (that sounds horrible for someone who doesn't know much about scripting though).

Though if your game consistently crashes for everyone who has a game over, perhaps this isn't it. From my experiences, some people can't handle even ONE disposed windows, but another person can handle quite a lot before the game crashes on them and my game would randomly crash if someone had too many undisposed windows and not at a fixed point which yours seems to be doing.
