DBZ - Raging Pride Review

I disagree. There are too many problems to fix the current build. It would be faster, more convenient for the creator, and produce a better end result, if he simply started over from scratch.

The biggest crimes are, without a doubt, the pacing and the battles. Give us more options in a fight, we don't want to be mashing attack constantly. Actually let us play battles that don't involve Goku, as well as others we were forced to watch. This is supposed to be a game, not a pixel art film! Why didn't we get to fight King Chappa? Why didn't we play as Tenshinhan against Tao Pai Pai? As stated before, there was also a complete lack of direction, and I spent most of the game wishing they'd just get on with it already (see the intense queuing action). The dialogue doesn't just need the fat to be trimmed, it needs a complete rewrite! There's too much, too often, and an over-reliance on...

Visually, they need to find something that fits, all RTP, or all Legacy of Goku, or even a different style all together, NOT a mish mash of all three, which look like visual puke.

The fact that the author clearly poured a lot of time and effort into this and most likely, genuinely, thinks this is actually good just makes it that much sadder.

I stand by everything I've said about the title.

DBZ - Raging Pride Review

I think the rating was justified. There were no redeeming qualities to be found here. The one positive thing I could say is that the guy who made this was clearly enthusiastic and wanted to put a lot of passion into this, but that only makes the result all the more painful to play through.

This video covers a lot of points

Thinking of Changing My Comic Pull List

I'd feel lazy getting them delivered, besides, they only offer those kinds of services to the US, UK comics are still behind so the local comic shops just import the up-to-date stuff

Purchase VX Ace through RMN

My bonus and birthday money that were going to go towards VX Ace look like they've now already been accounted for in having to replace the car and get some additional baby stuff in preparation for Maya's arrival (thankfully credit saved my arse, but that bonus money now needs to pull me out of the overdraft again on the 22nd), sorry.

Typical that, as soon as we're looking at some extra cash and freedom, something happens. Then again, I suppose most people's lives echo that.

Thinking of Changing My Comic Pull List

For those unaware, a pull list is a list of comics your local comic shop keeps aside for you each week/ month/ however often you go to collect. I'm thinking of changing mine around a bit. On the list right now is

- Avenging Spider-Man
- AVX
- Uncanny X-Men
- Wolverine & The X-Men
- Batman
- Batman Detective Comics
- Batman The Dark Knight
- Batman Incorporated (starts this month)
- Batman and Robin
- Batgirl
- Nightwing
- Red Hood & The Outlaws
- Smallville
- Teen Titans
- Fanboys VS Zombies

Books I've been reading but aren't yet on my pull list are

- Amazing Spider-Man (been enjoying Ends of the Earth)
- Avengers VS X-Men (the fight comic)
- Scarlet Spider
- Justice League (initially lost interest at issue 7)
- Superman Action Comics

Now, I'm considering replacing Avenging Spider-Man with Amazing Spider-Man, as Avenging hasn't done anything with itself since the first three issue arc with Red Hulk. I have too much Batman and will most likely drop Dark Knight. I don't think I'll be continuing buying Scarlet Spider, even casually. In two minds about Action Comics and Justice League, and Teen Titans has severely gotten on my nerves for having The Culling parts 2 and 3 in Superboy and Legion Lost. Uncanny X-Men is gone once AVX is over.

Any suggestions? My favourite reads each month right now are Red Hood & The Outlaws, Amazing Spider-Man and Wolverine & The X-Men.

EDIT: Almost forgot Smallville started this month!

Meta games

I think you'd get a kick out of a game called DLC Quest. In it you collect coins to "buy" DLC with. They take it to the extremes in that even the ability to move left is "DLC"! You have to obtain animation, music, jumping etc.

An Official *English* Version of 2k3 Approaches!

I signed! I'd be all over this if it happens, still my favourite of the RM engines

[Plug-in] [rm2k3] Animated Monsters Plugin

Loving the plug-in! Here's hoping the alterations are made to get Cherry's seal of approval man! Definitely going to have to put this to good use! If this is ever joined by a large charasets plug-in for 2k3 I'll be a very happy man.

Want A Video Review Of YOUR Game?

Hey guys, I've not forgotten about this. Asalieri (Tellahasa) is now on board and I think it'll be best for you guys if we duet, we're organizing stuff at the moment.

Does This Sound Too Ambitious?

Wow, that is in-depth! First and foremost, thank you.

Handwriting, when I'm jotting down ideas, it's all caps scrawls unfortunately XD

Let's see if I can break some of this down a little more, as you said, JRPG is quite vague.

- I plan on using VX Ace's DBS. Reason being that I do not know Ruby and I think if I did use a pre-existing side view script, it would add making animations for the party members and monsters.

- The reason I felt it important to state that it would be touch encounters instead of random encounters is simply that the game is all about choice. If you can see the enemy, you have a choice whether to fight it or not (to a degree).

- The multiple endings... Mass Effect is a bad example I suppose because Mass Effect had a far larger scope (plus, it was sort of one ending with a colour filter in most people's minds). Throughout the game, the player is going to be making decisions, some are minor and only effect sub plots and little details, others are major.

If you've ever played House of the Dead 2, when you die, it shows you a route map, there are several roads running parallel to each other that converge and intersect.

From the same starting point, it is possible to travel one of three parallel paths through the game, and certain points give you the opportunity to change what track you're on, and thus, which ending you're heading towards.

I believe this is among the simplest, as well as one of the effective, ways to deliver what I have in mind.

- Sprites, especially tilesets, are something I'm itching to do to help give my game it's own identity. Part of it is the fact that I did Graphic Design at college and Games Art & Design at art school, I'm a very visual person and I like to put a visual stamp on what I do. Plus, let's face it, a lot of people base their decision on whether to download a game or not based purely on screenshots.

I'm by no means unreasonable though, I fully expect to enlist help. I also plan on making a base sprite (one male, one female) in PhotoShop, as well as a set of hairs and clothes on separate layers so I can have a form of character generator. (I know I can import to the pre-existing one in VX, but my charasets will probably be larger and using the $filename workaround)

- Similar to Earth... Blue sky, humans, breathable atmosphere, green grass, that kind of thing. I'd like it set in my own world so that I can bend the rules of reality a little.

- When I say 3 to 4, I mean in the party at any one time. Recruitable, maybe 8 or 9 total. Some are only available on certain paths through the game. Yeah, some of them can die permanently, but the player would know their decision would result in that or at least have hints.

- The surroundings and environments would limit what I could use from pre-existing resources, but I really want to make my own tiles.

- The reason less focus has gone into gameplay is that I'll be emulating Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest which ties things down quite well to then build from.

- The main conflict will be about whether you want to do what you consider to be right, or what you're ordered to do. It should tell the player something about themselves with a bit of luck.
