DirectDraw Error (DDERR_UNSUPPORTED)

Whenever I try to launch an RPG Maker 2003 game I get this error. This error only appears when launching finished games and demos that automatically go into full screen mode.

If I'm test playing a game (so it comes up in the 640x480 window) then there are no problems, if I try to go from test playing into full screen I get the exact same error.

Some of the games I want to play are "locked" (I can't open them in RPG Maker 2003) so I can't just launch them in test play mode.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, my graphics card is an NVidia GeForce 9500 GT, my resolution is 1768x992 and I'm using a HDMI cable.

Is there anything I can change with regards to system settings or alternatively, anything I can add to RPG_RT.ini to make the games launch in Windowed mode?

Myself and Asalieri (Tellahasa) were looking to do a collab video on RM2k3 games, I thn came across this issue.

EDIT: A somewhat long-winded solution so far has been to create a Shortcut to RPG_RT.exe, then right click, select Properties, and on the end of the Target line (where it shows the location of the original RPG_RT.exe for the game) add "NormalPlay ShowTitle Window" at the end.

Favourite puzzles in video games?

It's odd how audio can be brought into these things, though I can't help but feel deaf players may lose out.

Discussion: Terminator RPG

This could be fun, but I agree with Julev, do something loosely based off or inspired by Terminator as opposed to just saying "This is a Terminator game". By the sound of it, you're going to be doing 99.9% of the legwork regardless, right? Might as well make it legwork for an original game.

Favourite puzzles in video games?

Title pretty much says it all. There have been some great puzzles in games like Tomb Raider. Portal makes an entire game from puzzles! So, what are some of your favourite puzzles from video games?

Personally, I love environmental puzzles, where it's just you and the environment. I find they ooze atmosphere and make you feel as though you're actually interacting with the game, having a conversation with it. "Does this work? OK, what happens if I do this?"

My recollection of game puzzles is quite poor despite enjoying them so I have no specific examples, but I know games like Prince of Persia are full of them.

The Surrealist Tarot

Just to confirm for everyone, me and Max are cool. I think the flaws he pointed out in the actual game design are perfectly valid and justified, and he has privately messaged me the reason he took the game's plot to heart, which is also perfectly justified. No need for people to be fighting over it.

It makes sense if you think about Sam. The console versions are so limited by comparison that they require constant updates for functionality and thus are a reliable source of revenue... kind of like the annual EA Sports releases. The PC versions are much more flexible and user-extensible and having more frequent releases would probably make the situation worse.

I suppose that makes sense when you put it like that.

I still can't grasp the fact that console RPG Maker games are not only popular, they outnumber the PC releases!
