I think we should accomodate both, and just review both differently, if need be.
tbqh, I think for this to work you need to have set rules, set time, etc.. At the moment, this challenge doesn't feel...tangible or something. It's a great idea and it could work.
Also, I disagree with choosing the characters for people.

It's not as if three hours is generous, so I think you'd still get the "Holy Shit What Am I Going To Do In One Fucking Hour!!!" effect.
I'm totally up for this.

RPGs are about choice & consequence.
Agree with this.

What I think makes an RPG? "Role-Playing."
No.
Shut the Hell up.
"RPG" is just a tag nowadays. Don't bring in your smarmy remarks. We tolerate kentona and don't need any more out of you. PnP RPGs might have some role-playing, sure, but console/PC RPGs are (insert "usually" here; to cover my rear) NOT ABOUT ROLE-PLAYING SKDNVLSNFVLNSFFBKJFBFB
most of the replies in this topic have been TO WATCH A CHARACTER GROW or whatever, not to ROLE-PLAY
RPGs ARE NOT ABOUT ROLE-PLAYING THEY ARE ABOUT NUMBERS NUMBERS NUMBERS

you can have both roleplaying and numbers with more roleplaying i wouldnt find plenty of console rpgs right now so repetitive

Most movies are incredibly bad.
There are no good movies about swords, magic, and dragons. None. If you want a story with certain obscure subject matter, your only choice is video games. (Show me one movie about mages who are dueling! Even one!)
I'd say that the best medium for 'obscure subject matter' is manga (Not anime).
