SHADE_HUNTER'S PROFILE

I have created RPG games for 5 years. In Finnish but... They are still pretty good... Still I never published anything full-length game, because I compose a lot and I like to create games for fun.

New Royalty free music track - For Factory ;)

Near an industrial area you can might notice an old obscure building which used to be a factory. Whatever was made inside these walls is not made anylonger. These creepy halls might be meating places of downtown gangs, or even something worse.

Factory is a slow loopable theme ment to be played in factories or inside industrial buildings, mostly dungeon areas. Ambience circles around continous rythm and synth patterns.

BGM - .. tracks of background music for various locations such as forests, cities, mountains, jungles, factories, dungeons, castles, and even for a spaceship.

My first boss theme

I agree with Samgoesnuts, it does not give boss feeling. Perhaps that's because of the instruments.

But as a first boss song of yours, pretty decent. Could fit to old-school game to my mind

Shooting Star resembles eternal flight throught the stars. Its cold, dark path of silent movement in deep space. Echo and reverb is very big part of this particular song

Space Craft is an album set in retro space age. Travel in the solar system finding new wondrous themes and tunes. Collection of 8 songs for royalty free purpoces.

Creation process for this particular track was intriguing. Making music with retro style brings you closer to the roots of the game music. You can't just lean to new systems, you have to try your best with the old-style sounds.

New free music Track

This creation from Twitch composing stream was intended to be really relaxing with all the bells, synths and all. And just in 1 hour we managed to make it reality! I like how it turned out in the end.

With this entry there happened a small misfortunate turn. The whole song dissapeared due my computer had a temporary problem and whole song dissapered. I recreated this new version copying every note from the composing stream and adding as similarly sounding sounds, not fully authenthic, but still very similar.

Royalty Free music set in Himalayas!

One day I found few Throat Singing instruments at my VST's thus I decided to try something different at the composing streaming; to make that particular instrument play the main lead and build a song around it. And in this song set in HImalayas I believe we succeeded. It feels like the rough mountain environment of the Himalayas.

Last composing session was very enjoyable to stream. Everything went perfectly and we were able to produce quite nice music in the process. Song became quite long in composing streaming standards. Almost 5 minutes long!

Happy one year anniversary to RMN Slack! + News

There is a slack for rpgmakernet? How did I not notice that?! My bad.

I will join right away

Composers- how do you charge?

Remember fellow composers, always try to rise your paid commission amount per every commercial project. Avoid places like fiverr or you condemn yourself into music slavery. 5 bucks per piece is ridiculous.

As Fulminis-ictus stated, professional composers charge a lot per minute and your goal should be that. By re-valuing your work after every successful project you can achieve these high sums.

More projects you have on your CV, more you can ask. I have had some good projects before, and just a while ago I made one 5 second theme for an indie game company and they paid 50$. You all can achieve good paychecks, you just need a bunch of projects in your cv.

Good Places to start if I want to make my own resources

To learn making custom music first you have to know what are you intending to achieve. If you want make old-school rpg music I recommend trying making midi. Its easy, its cheap and due time easy to master.

If you are going for better sound or quality, then the dollar signs come in. Better the quality, more money you spend. First purchasing a proper program and then quality vst's... You find yourself spending quite a lot.

Instead of purchasing huge amount of equipment and investing hours for developing the proper music making skills, I suggest of teaming up with music people around here in the forum. A summoner of sounds shows, there are quite many talented musicians and composers around here. You may even convince some people work for you for free (if you make a free project that is) Trust me, that is the fastest way, and to my mind, the best way.
