I want to edit their costume so they look like they're in a fantasy world--I have a basic idea of what I want their costumes to look like, and I do have sprites of them, but have zero experience sprite editing

Hi,I'm ShineDiamond...and I'm a new RPG Maker VX Ace user.
I got RPG Maker VX Ace a week or two ago, and I decided for my first adventure, I would create a fantastic Pokemon RPG.
So far, I have the first region of the map finished, most of the database filled in, and a basic idea of how I want the story to go--but my biggest problem has been tracking down sprites of the human Pokemon characters (eg. Ash, Misty, Brock, and Dawn) and editing them so they look like they came from a fantasy world a la classic Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, or Zelda.
I'm hoping to get help in realizing my first game, make new friends, and maybe reconnect with some old ones
