SHOOBINATOR'S PROFILE

I am into just about every genre of game really. My brother and I grew up dabbling in RM2k3 on occasion to the point where hearing the RTP soundtrack brings a wave of nostalgia, so I'm most familiar with that engine as far as RPGMaker goes.
Check out my game I'm working on!
Legend of Alkior: The Impending Storm
Tension between two kingdoms rises as the seal on the renegade archmage, Xargath, inevitably fades and must be promptly restored.

Release Something Weekend

I am in the EST and the end date for me says 05/06/2013 08:00 AM. Is this correct? If so, I have been given the gift and curse of an all nighter on Sunday night (Monday Morning.)
That is 8am GMT time. I would have to check the timezone difference, but I would shoot for finishing before tonight at midnight.
When to decide enough is enough?

I don't mind you at all! you're probably the best thing that's happened to this topic recently.
:D

I think he was talking to the guy who started the thread? that post's from a whole page ago, anyway.
Oh okay, don't mind me, then :P

What became of that bright-eyed, young, promising developer that took critique from the screenshot thread and bettered his work significantly near instantly? Where did he go?
Not to toot my own horn, but I'm not sure who exactly you're referring to either, maybe me? lol I did get a lot of great feedback from a thread of mine a while back.

I would recommend just having their names without their titles for the battles like just Elwin, Isaac, Charles, and Simon, and then you can give them special titles in the menus or when they speak.
Please help me solve a mystery!
author=amerkauthor=ShoobinatorWell, anybody can assume whatever they want to; whether or not it's true is a completely different matter. However, if people feel the screenshots are boring, and the presentation is not up to snuff, they're likely going to think this is what the game will be like, and decide against downloading it for themselves.
In Raoul's defense, while the presentation may not be top-notch, you can't assume that the game is boring to play IF you haven't actually played it yet. I think that's also what he was trying to argue. But of course presentation matters for people to want to play etc. etc. I just wouldn't immediately conclude that it actually IS boring, but I could THINK that it is from a glance.
In other words, people will make their own assumptions, and it's up to the developer to prove otherwise, if they feel the need is warranted.
That exactly what I said... :P

That said, I don't think the screenshots are that bad, and I may be inclined to play it at some point, but I have a current backlog of about 200 games I'm still trying to go through. However, I'm also the kind of person that doesn't mind playing an RTP game (if the RTP is used right); I place more importance over writing, game mechanics, and level design than I do what sort of resources were used.
However, I also realize I'm in the minority, since it seems a lot of RM users are against the RTP, no matter how it's used.
Not sure about RTP-haters being the majority. I, for one, care more about how it is used. However, I am not a huge fan of the VX chibi style, but I don't dislike it because it is default.
[Poll] Judging whether to download a game? What do you look for?
Basically, they are the resources that come with the game maker. They are therefore the most accessible and a lot of people use them. VX and VX Ace have character generators, but they are still considered RTP because they have the same style as all the default characters.

Difficulty: Challenge vs Frustration
I wouldn't say that particular case is too frustrating because it's not actually that hard to return to that point. Although other sidequests that are much more involved like the Keifa one could be a bit annoying if, say, you mess up the very last part.
In fact, I think this game does that well, making you feel like your actions really matter because they are not as easily changeable as reloading from minutes ago. But if the game crashes and I have to redo an entire pre-dungeon/dungeon segment, that's real frustration. >:(

Difficulty: Challenge vs Frustration
For Majora's Mask, I'd say challenging. You even learn that you can play the Song of Time a certain way to slow down the passage of time if you explore all of Clock Town and find that scarecrow dude.
The only thing in Majora that was a pain in the ass big time was a game-freezing bug that would randomly occur in the version of the game on the Zelda Collector's Edition Gamecube disc, which is how I played Majora. Due to having to turn back time to permanently save the game, there were multiple occurrences where I had to repeat entire areas.
If anything, I'd say this lack of permanent save points was something that was actually frustrating and was probably only implemented so that you didn't save your game permanently 1 second before the moon crashes into Termina, resulting in an un-winnable save file. I think they could have done something better than the owl statues.
EDIT: Actually, I'm not sure if the Game Over from the moon crashing brings you directly back to the main menu or if it gives you the option to start from Day 1.
