SHOOBINATOR'S PROFILE

I am into just about every genre of game really. My brother and I grew up dabbling in RM2k3 on occasion to the point where hearing the RTP soundtrack brings a wave of nostalgia, so I'm most familiar with that engine as far as RPGMaker goes.

Check out my game I'm working on!

Legend of Alkior: The Impending Storm
Tension between two kingdoms rises as the seal on the renegade archmage, Xargath, inevitably fades and must be promptly restored.

How to expose higher difficulty to players?

author=Sated
b) Low-level enemies don't give experienceYou can force players to seek new challenges by making it so that lower-level enemies don't give experience (or give significantly reduced experience) once the hero reaches a certain level. This is often used in MMORPG games to force the player to move along to new areas (I seem to remember that Conquer Online used to do this really effectively). It's been used in traditional RPGs as well, but none come to mind right now. If the player walks into a new area and finds that they're not getting much EXP, they know that they don't have to waste their time (unless they want to look for treasures). This is a good way to force people to move around a lot, and prevents people grinding too much.

Personally, I would have the first line just say "START", especially if any other menu option also is selected with the Start button. Also, password should be one word.

I'm liking the looks of this game so far!

Did you find these tiny character sets somewhere? Or did you make them yourself?

Sprite Opacity Problem

The tiles in question are probably set to "bush" attribute, which partially obscures the bottom half of character sets passing over them.
Can you be a bit more specific on what you mean?

Go to the Terrain tab in the database. There are radio buttons for options such as "Obscure bottom half" and "Obscure bottom third". Perhaps this is your fix. Make sure your map tilesets in the "Tilesets" tab are correctly set to the appropriate terrain type.

[RM2K3] Best way to change battle music?

Also, make a common event called "ResetBattleBGM" that changes the battle music to the BGM that you have set in the database. This will make things easier if you ever want to change the default/regular battle BGM in your game to a boss BGM, for example, and then want to change back.

Great map!
Barrels and boxes on roofs look out of place. Most of them would slide or fall along roof slope.

That's a mapping technique that's used to prevent walking under the roof while at the same time having the roof appear above everything else (using the 'Star' option), using only the lower and upper tile layers.
