Motivation sapping dungeons/maps... how do you deal with them?
I deal with it by making sure I never make anything big and boring enough, ever. If I find myself in this position I just drop the thing boring me and work around it somehow. If it's boring for me it's probably going to show in what I'm making and turn out badly anyway.
This is the privilege I have as a nonpaid worker and I'll be damned if I don't use it.

...just think before you do things like this messing with hell and demons can be very dangerous just saying but all and all good job.
Sorry to say this but I've done worse things than make a game with a fantasy setting. If I'm going to hell it's not for this game.
Hell Diary
A really solid adventure game, from what I have played so far (v0.02).
Original (and great) graphics and music and interesting story.

From what I learned from the wise NewBlack, that a dark image on this white background is going to appear really dark.
It's probably totally fine in game, of if you had it on a dark background.
I never considered that. But I HAVE been getting complaints about my games being kinda dark, from people who played them, so it's probably not completely wrong.
I'm not sure this map was the worst offender, though.

Is it a horror game? If so it's perfect.
It's horror'ish. I wouldn't say it's pure horror.

Looks much better (I figured what it was, just thought the sides were much higher).
Good, I wouldn't want to put too much work on this place, because it's the only place with this look. I'll keep in mind the lightning in the future, even more than I do now.
Seems like something I have trouble with, maybe my screen is lighter/clearer than most others.

It's supposed to be a path with rocky slopes on each side,
probably easier to make out when playing it.
I'll see what I can do about it.
Edit:

Ignore the lines, those got there when I downsized the pic.
Is it clear what it is now?

I've been using parallax mapping more and more after I switched from XP to VX Ace. It adds some real freedom to what you can do, I think.

Nostalgia goggles at maximum there, buddy. If you were refering to the "Old Gameplay"
video in the link, there are plenty of newer games that does similar stuff to many of the things in the video. Just because you took out some of the impressive things from old games does not mean all games did this back then, just as not all games do this now.
