TYRANOS'S PROFILE

My name is Richard Allen Torruellas and I love to play games. I also like to do many other things but mostly it's games for me. To me a game has to be fun and some are fun while remaining buggy pieces of crap.

Games inspire a lot of what I do and they make me feel like I get to know the person who made them a little bit more.

If only there were a way to just... bind him to this one thread so that he could only ever post here.

Can we do that?

I don't see why not. We have the technology. We can make him only able to even read certain topics. At least that's been my experience with some forums where you get the whole "You do not have clearance/authorization to enter this topic/page.". It should be done, also if anyone sees him in real life capture him because he's either the King of Trolls, making him a like a landmark or wonder of the world, or he's seriously demented and better off in a padded cell where he can't kill for not "eating enough lesbians".

Does This site allow adult theme rpg?

...send me a PM with some of the worst examples of scenes and I'll let you know if it's fine or not.

Thou hast opened the gates to thine own doom!

Also why do I immediately go to imagining the scene where Balalaika was watching the surveillance footage of prostitutes in Black Lagoon?

TPP could make fanwork illegal?

When he opened with "I don't care about politics." I immediately realized this idiot doesn't realize exactly what politics are. They can impact ANYTHING. If you like games you'd best be interested in politics, because politics can have an affect on what games are even released in your region. Censorship laws ARE politics. All laws are. So my suggestion is that you all get interested. At least in areas that can mess with your interests.

Also this guy talking about Japan is cute. Foreigners need to visit that place sometime and stop assuming exceptions are the normal.

Sorry Shulk, I'm not really feeling it...[serious talk]

I'm just throwing it out there but you could join me for an LP. Or try having a friend join you for an LP and see if that helps. It could slowly get you more into talking to people again. If all else fails just find a day in which you do nothing, download maptool, and then find a GM for a game you like so you can get some social time in that way. It might also help inspire you a bit.

Looks like Max McGee for all of the disagreements I have with him in various areas understands discrimination is a practice and can only be accomplished when used against what people are not what they do, that there is no protection in the US constitution from hurt feelings as it doesn't violates any rights you have, and that no one is obligated to look deep into any organization. If you have a bunch of idiots run around claiming they are part of your movement and giving it a bad name you disconnect with them. You do not continue to allow anyone to associate you to them. Bravo Max.

Now you ought to look up Moreland Farmers Pantry as an example of inexcusable behavior on part of SJW's. It's sad to see someone who did not actually discriminate or show bigotry of any kind in her dealings ostracized from a community because her personal thoughts on gay marriage. The sad part is that by getting that store to close down several homosexual workers now lack jobs. For all the bluster of SJW's they've hurt who they claim they were helping, showing their true colors, as it's clear gay rights are a pet crusade for their own agenda of obtaining popularity.

I think one of you got stolen from

Okay I just saw this video on the Jimquisition and I swear I've seen some of the maps before in this game. I'm not talking about seeing similar assets either. I mean quite literally some of the maps in this game look like copy pastes of games I've played on here. Notably the ice caverns part puts me in mind of one of Craze's (I think) games.

I could be wrong but I'm getting a massive sense of Deja Vu looking at any maps in the game. Like I've played on them before.

The Ice Caverns at 3:15 REALLY give me the feeling though. Did this guy jack maps from people's games or is my mind playing tricks on me?

When do you grow up?

First you need to define what you find childish. Such things generally include prioritizing your own belief over general or common knowledge, harming others for your own gain (you really don't need to throw others under the bus to get ahead), etc.

In other words you never "grow up" because growing is something that constantly happens until you die. However maturity is when you become aware of everything, not just your own little world. For example, most Americans feel entitled to be offended by every little thing and then feel further entitled to blow it out of proportion. Physical example, WetMattos's thread about how a vast minority of comments that were likely trolling are seriously indicative of society at large. That is childish.

Yet another childish behavior: Thinking that you know shit because you heard it from one biased source. Instead opting to find out everything you can from reliable sources and defining your own opinion on the matter if opinions are relevant and facts elude the topic at hand.

Maturity comes in a variety of ways, but mainly it's when you stop acting like a child and thinking shit like "That's wrong/right!" because right and wrong are a matter of perspective. Example: In Africa there is a tribe that eats the foreskin of 5 year old boys when they get circumcised off the tip of a banana. Most Americans will say that's wrong but not produce any evidence of it being wrong, by the definition of wrong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwBao-Tb_BA

In other words when you realize you're acting like a twit and not learning a damn thing because you know it all and you're right because you say so and finally stop, you'll be "grown up", or as you stated "mature". Perspective is key here and not the kind of perspective about a single event but rather life perspective. When you realize your perspective isn't right you'll be mature.

Videogames reduce crime

So what you're saying is that Blizzard could take over the w- cause world peace by sending free copies of WoW with computers to people across the world?

Also I'm just throwing this out there, an old novel I once read had a line it in that went something like this. "Thin people aren't trustworthy. Oh fat people? No they are okay, not quick enough to be wicked." Could there be truth to this?

Game developers that don't... like making games...?

author=Nivlacart
If you knew me in real life, I'm a blazingly passionate guy when it comes to game making. I would gush for hours on end about ideas that could be shoved into a game. The idea of creating games excites me to no end. Which is why some recent events really confused me.

School has a mandatory internship module, so I've been interning at an indie game studio for about 2 months now. I thought I would be having a ball of a time, I've been waiting for this moment my whole life. But I've never felt so out of place.

During lunch breaks trying to chat with people I came to realize nobody here really likes making games. So far what I've heard from them is 'It's just a job'. The games they're making doesn't seem to be built on ideas they think are fun, but ideas they think that work out so far and they're tacking it on. No one here really discusses the game or has remotely any hype about it.

I'm in a perpetual state of disbelief. Games are such a fun medium, I didn't think anyone who got into the industry and stayed there would continue thinking 'it's just a job'. But now I know people like this do exist.

I know it's probably unprofessional to gripe about a job I'm being paid for but it's... it's a big culture shock to me. From being around RMN and other sites, I expected the world out there to be 'This game is great!' and 'Let's work together to make this!' I know that probably I wouldn't always meet people who are as passionate, who wouldn't spazz over E3 uncontrollably like I would, but I didn't expect apathy towards it. Maybe my hopes were set wayyy too high.

What do you guys think about the thought of a portion of the game industry just in it for the lucrative market over the enjoyment of making something exciting?
My best friend once warned me 'If you make something you love your job, you will come to hate the thing you love' and I fear that. Do you think out there, it's true?

Man. Jobs are scary.

First of all did your face resemble your avatars face? Because if anyone looks that intense it's enough to get anyone into anything. You could inspire legions with that intensity.

Second all any of this means is that you'll go farther. Something I often talk about is how when a developer LIKES making games those games tend to be FUN which is the bottom line of any game. If it's not fun it's not a good game. You can talk about politics and other bullshit all you want but by the end of the day you can program what you wish and draw what you wish and you've taken a love to that. It'll show and your games might just inspire your classmates. Trust me. Look at Shadowrun Returns, Pillars of Eternity, or The Witcher 3. All of those are held as highly enjoyable gaming experiences and the developers of those games loved making games and thought to make a game they would love to play.

EDIT: Oh and all three of those were also commercial successes. Witcher constantly putting out DLC that was FREE to keep your attention on their game and keep you trying out new things that other games would charge around 5 dollars for and then brilliantly revealing an actual expansion, again while keeping your attention with fun. Good business, games as as service, and game design are not mutually exclusive.

Pillars of Eternity is now seeing an expansion that is about as large as the first part of the base game. This game kept you coming back by making each class play drastically differently and have access to different equipment as well as playstyles. Then while you are still on Act 1 BAM expansion.

Shadowrun Returns just released a new expansion as well and kept interest high with the ability to make your own campaigns. Hong Kong looks good and by staying true to Shadowrun they've gotten more people interested in Shadowrun and did not alienate the hardcore fans. Again innovation for the sake of innovating is not really innovation now is it? SRR proves this.

Humans may not use tools and express emotions exactly like other animals, but that doesn't exempt us from animal status. No two species share exactly the same sets of behavior. But we also share far too much in common to pretend that we are some form of life that transcends animal status. On another note when you fill out applications or look at an ID or when cops put out an alert it's Male/Female not Man/Woman. Stop being ignorant please.

Just admit you are being entitled and taking offense to stupid internet trolls. I mean seriously you drop the funnest buzzwords to get people listening but so far I've heard nothing of substance. You are literally trying to turn an issue that is you being upset about something someone said into way more than that. As noted by your opening content warning that symbolic violence is used. You are taking a valid conversation and throwing it under the bus for personal gain.

I do appreciate what you are bastardizing though. The problem is your handling of it is terrible. There are very real issues related to Transgender people in general and you've literally said fuck you to all of it so you can whine about internet trolls. How about dealing with some of these very real problems that are a bit more pressing.
