My name is Richard Allen Torruellas and I love to play games. I also like to do many other things but mostly it's games for me. To me a game has to be fun and some are fun while remaining buggy pieces of crap.
Games inspire a lot of what I do and they make me feel like I get to know the person who made them a little bit more.

Can someone meaningfully explain to me what is "hegemonic" about this portrayal of the character?
No they can't. Because it's not. The OP has proven themselves unable to within several posts even and has used a lot of buzzwords but little else. Also me pointing out that there are women out there who accept the white knight behavior is apparently creepy. Sorry for stating reality to you.
In the end I still think the big issue is people getting upset about a character being changed to be ugly simply because it's a female. That speaks loudly of the mental status of not only everyone in this country but the people on this site who've pretty much had the same amount of luck as the OP in "proving" anything at all here. Oh well another episode for me.

before anything else, the 'fuckable' line isn't mine. the quotes were there for a reason. people were actually using that word in their posts.
with that said, there are two things that i'd like to raise here. the first is about people in the internet. these are not people in the internet, these are people who are in the internet, and if i am to believe both the scientific evidence and anecdotal experience, these people are just as creepy and weird in real life. that's one of the reasons why i avoid game conferences while wanting to be work as a game designer. i've had very uncomfortable, not to say absolutely harmful encounters with gamers who were exactly what they are in the internet - which is to say, kindly, that they belonged in a garbage bin.
the second thing is that, while i understand where you are coming from (and i could have been clearer about that), what i'm questioning is less individual characters, and more broad tendences. for example, in the case of women characters, all of them are, more often than not, designed and written for the male gaze. this tendence is so pervasive that even in stories that would defy this genre you can identify those traces, since that's the only way we've been taught to think of these characters. so, when anita sarkeesian, merit of her criticism aside, raise that kind of vitriol for challenging, in a very mild way, these tropes and narratives, it's pretty much a sign that we have an issue. maybe not with all games, but the hegemonic narrative which surrounds it.

That's my point. I appreciate games that don't do that. It's sort of tiring to be honest. Also note Anita is not the first to raise vitriol or the one who raised the most vitriol over this same issue.
As to gamers there is about as much you can do for that as there is for mechanics or anyone else who identifies with any group to be honest. I avoid them myself because I can only tolerate so much creepiness. White knights especially bother me because females are the ones directly responsible for perpetuating them. In fact Sarkeesian herself was defended by a guy who had no real reason defending her yet she ate that shit up and gave him praise for "standing up for the truth". Try again. You need to stand on your own two feet and when someone else offers to fight your battles for you, you need to tell them to butt out. White knighting feeds on that desire to see others fight for you. It's also the most irritating of mental health issues.
I guess you could say "give an inch and they take a mile" in regards to social behavior. To be quite honest I think people ought to not defend others simply because of what or who they are and voice their own opinions separately. No one needs the extra layer of defense and in a debate it makes the person who's actually the focus lose a bit of their persuasive power.
To date something that upsets me is the common portrayal in games of gays, trans, or anyone who would not be considered sexually normal by society is portrayed as a monster or is often a psychotic bad guy. It's a little disturbing to think that gamers are okay seeing this and like the idea of it. When those same characters are good or represented in a positive light they get negative feedback.

Welcome to the internet. Where people are weird and creepy. I mean this attitude makes me wonder if NPC's that are old are even viable in games anymore or if every character in a modern video game needs to be "fuckable" as you put it. It really does concern me out to think that people judge FICTIONAL CHARACTERS IN THEIR GAMES by those standards.
To this day I think I enjoy the RPG maker games where you don't play the doll. I loved Illusions of Loyalty because no one was really "pretty" and rightly so. The author didn't go out of his way to make them girly and overly sexy. I'd like to also point out that Nsala liberation has an older woman as a character you play who already has a husband and child. I really do like these things a ton and applaud people who don't make me play a sexy young stud all the damn time. At least not without making him a true blue sexy young stud attitude and all. Because let's face it Three the Hard Way was hilarious.

I actually think some commercials have more substance and humor than entire episodes of shows sometimes.

In fact, using violence to "solve problems" just reinforces to both the victim and the onlookers that "might makes right" and is exactly the sort of barbarianism that society should be stepping away from. This technique may work in rehabilitating some, but for many others they will find themselves even more psychologically broken than before.
The people need to appoint an ass kicker. I'm sorry but why send a 15 year old to prison for theft when you can just beat their ass in public? Physical discipline really does work, and we have a shit ton of Drill Sargent's retired from military I hear. Sounds like the perfect job for them. Years of experience drilling discipline into ADULTS who are far harder to teach than children? Check.
Also, we already have a problem with authority figures who overuse their ability to do violence to others. It will just increase if you use more violence as punishment.
Hence making a JOB. The minute something is done for a living and money is charged for it it's open to higher amounts of scrutiny. Quite frankly I'd rather see troubled youth sent to drill instructors than prisons. That's just stupid. There was a case recently where a 15 year old girl was caught shoplifting food and she was charged with theft and given 6 years in prison. That isn't justice. It's mercy. It's too much mercy for the victim and not enough justice for BOTH sides. Also in countries that do have physical discipline there is far less violent crime. This is because physical discipline is not inherently violence. I see violence used incorrectly far too often and I blame America for that. Buzzwords are popular here.

b) I pity you, Tyranos. I really do. Your world view and especially your attitude towards violence are deeply disturbing, to say the least. You really should take the time to do some introspection and rethink what your real priorities in life are. Because right now, you will not only convince absolutely nobody with your way of thinking and arguing. The methods you want to employ to carry out your (sometimes even somewhat reasonable) ideals will cause nothing but harm and suffering if actually brought into practice.
I can't imagine it is actually your intention to be a threat to your fellow humans. So please try not to be so.
And exactly what attitude would that be towards violence? That it's a crime and should actually be punished by law? Now state your damn opinion and stop trying to start an argument. EDIT: On that note guess who just made my next "Reply to Stupid" video happen?

Just so you are aware people don't "hate" on IrateGamer. The man is actually a thief and a fraud and it's not only been proven but he lost in court. I wouldn't call people who say it haters so much as civic beacons of hope for pointing out shoddy business practices.
That being said I beat mario 64 too quickly to bore of it really. I hate all sonic games equally to be honest. And Twilight Princess was indeed in my opinion the Zelda game second only to that awesome SNES one. How I do I conclude that? Because I still go back and play A Link to the Past. I've played and beaten Twilight Princess only once.
I also agree consoles have better games, because those games are made for consoles. Too many PC ports have come out until recently and more shitty ports STILL come out. That being said though Pillars of Eternity, The Witcher 3, and other games have curb stomped console gaming in recent years. Hopefully the trend continues because I don't really game on console anymore.
Now for some of my own opinions that aren't too popular and the reasons why afterwards.
1. FF7 is overhyped. It's good but not great. Slapping minigame, body temperature mini game, and millions of others mess with the pace and the worst part is that it largely relied on visuals which to me cheapened the experience.
2. I actually liked COD up to COD 3 I think. The story of that general was cool and why he felt he needed to go to war again and what he did to do so. I'll never forget Ghost being shot in the head and lit on fire. He looked the coolest. Plus Captain Price's stache.
3. League of Legends and DOTA don't really interest me too much. I find their systems clunky now that I've played Heroes of the Storm. Which also has far more balance. SMITE is better to me simply because the fact that you can literally sneak up on a person. 3D Hero Defense is cool.
4. I find Pewdiepie irritating as fuck. The sad part is having met Felix and many other YouTubers I've come to dislike a lot of them while liking others a lot as people. Their content and behavior on channel is NOT how about 85% of them are in real life. People will argue this with me because their wiki's say otherwise, which again is all gathered from public events and online. Felix is a cool as shit guy, pewdiepie is a screaming bastard that needs to be shot. Weird huh?
5. I dislike southrons. They are weak, slow, and stupid. They need more harsh north in their lives. Seriously though LA irritated me a lot when I went down there to fight.
6. My favorite YouTuber is TotalBiscuit.
7. Sex Ed should be mandatory. At this point we know how humans work and know when sexual experimentation happens. Hell kids as young as 2 have been brought into the emergency ward bleeding only for their parents to find out they are masturbating. Worst part? They ask why they would do that. Best part? "The same reason you do it!"
8. The people need to appoint an ass kicker. I'm sorry but why send a 15 year old to prison for theft when you can just beat their ass in public? 10. Last but not least my hatred for pride in the battle flag of the confederacy and everything it stands for and the opinions defending it which are the real white washers of history. Just because I have the freedom to do so you don't see me wearing red sheep skin leggings do you? Because that would be an asshole thing to do. Let's face it, the only people wanting to fly that traitor flag do it to be a rebel against the man, piss off black people, and generally other CHILDISH things. The worst part. Most of those flying that shit for those reasons...ARE GROWN ASS MEN. And you wonder why divorce is so high in this country. No one wants to be married to a fucking child with a small wiener you stupid southrons.

Don't get me started on the rap intro. I hated it with Pokemon and I hated it with One Piece. That being said if I didn't see the characters in the little images of the anime episodes I'd swear some of them look like they are going to die or are dead. This shit must have been heart pounding suspenseful in Japan when it aired on TV.
EDIT: Okay...what the fuck Liberty. This is bullshit. These characters hardly even look the same anymore. When it was one or two I could look past it. But did they really change EVERY BLOODY CHARACTER to make them more sterile and child friendly? I mean it's bad enough that fight scenes were heavily edited (I expected that since it was the 4KIDS channel) but sweet zombie jesus on a flaming pogo stick this is ridiculous. I mean I've heard of fucking censorship but what the fuck America?

O-Oh dear. You've only been exposed to the 4Kids version. We need to get you on the subbed version stat! (4Kids changed Zoro's name to Zolo because... who the fuck knows?
There's even a little game he plays with the readers by sometimes hiding a certain character in the background as a sort-of 'Where's Wally?' game (oh, right, you Americans call him Waldo. God knows why. :/ )
Because damnit we created Avatar the Last Movie I'll Ever Watch Bender that's why! If there is one thing Americans do with pride it's fuck up names every chance we get! (Don't get me started on Bleach or Naruto, I literally would prefer to find Japanese versions or subs for One Piece because quite frankly dubs on mainstream anime usually pull this shit)
