Mordoba sounds like a very neat character to work with. I somehow missed this blog, but subscribed! I hope you finish this. It's hard to find games with interesting main characters, because people always write serious ones.
Thanks! I think the key is really loving your main characters (this has been discussed elsewhere)... And striking the proper balance between humor and gameplay. Like I said, it's being made with humorous intent, but is not a "joke game."

The three varieties of fonts don't mix well together IMO.
You know, I kept staring at this and wondering if that was the case. I'm not sure how to change out my in-game font, though, or I'd axe that default font right off the bat.

Well... I guess now that you mention it there really is no reason the game should brandish the title "Final Fantasy", but I haven't played it so I will not pass any judgments.

"Final Fantasy" games - Creative outlet or derivative drivel?
author=Ravenite1author=VersaliaI don't see it, are you talking about "Final Fantasy Essence"? That just came out yesterday.
There's a "Final Fantasy" game listed on the mainpage right now that doesn't *appear* to have anything to do with the series.

That's the one. I'm not describing it one way or the other though, due to lack of information. It's what reminded me of the other games, though.

author=Ravenite1author=VersaliaCan you tell me what games you are actually talking about? Otherwise I'm not sure I can give an opinion on this.
I've played at least three "Final Fantasy" games that have nothing to do with anything in the actual FF series - including things like Espers, Materia, Moogles, Chocobos, etc nowhere to be found.
There's a "Final Fantasy" game listed on the mainpage right now that doesn't *appear* to have anything to do with the series. Haven't played it, though. I also played one called Final Fantasy Eternal Wings that seemed to have nothing in common but the name, as well as a couple of other similarly-named ones that were so terrible and irrelevent I purged them from my memory. I'll try to link them.

http://rpgmaker.net/games/429/What about this one?
Never played it, but, totally within the realms of acceptability. After all, it was that person's actual goal to make a game that would be considered a nostalgic look back at the series, or an enjoyably inclusive part of it, as opposed to making up a totally original game and branding it Final Fantasy to make it sound cool.

Cosplay Crisis is probably one of the few that's perfectly justified I guess
That one actually did pop to mind, though I have no problem with it. It's a sort of subversion as opposed to an in-genre addition :)

You should try layering the canopy to fill in some of that deadspace. ie- http://rpgmaker.net/media/content/games/180/screenshots/swampy.png
Excellent idea, thank you <3

it would certainly be a little jarring to see such a detailed and crafted faceset of Mordoba next to a simple NPC face frame.
If you feel up to it, I'd make a single frame of the same quality for all playable characters. What are doll minions?
All playable characters have the same quality face panel, yeah, except for Mr. Bear, Onion Knight and Ashes. Those three are "doll minions" - Mordoba there is a witch who uses puppets and dolls to do her bidding. Thus, they're sort of "silent PCs." They never talk (though Mordoba has plenty of dialog where she talks to them (herself)) and are improved through spending Mordy's AP (which is like JP from final fantasy tactics, accrue it and then spend it on the upgrade you desire).
