Good luck with your game! Hope it comes to fruition.
It honestly never occurred to me that it might not! Oh god oh god oh god, black and portentous must this humor prove unless good gam mak may the cause remove
Also: I have added all 3 parts of the script to my locker. Let me know if you need the "help manual" which is a .htm file and RMN may not let me shove in my locker.

author=Sayaauthor=ldida1Argh, I'd love to try it, but as a rule I don't download anything unless I paid for it/it's from a huge cooperation. Doesn't anyone have a text file or something similar? ._.
Blizz ABS script works well, theres alot of scripts you can use actaully..
That seems like a weird rule. I mean, I can understand not really wanting to accidentally pirate software or download some kind of virus, but:
a) these scripts are freely made and distributed for people exactly like you
b) that script is so popular there's no way you'll get a virus if you are DLing it from a legit RM* site
c) you generally don't have to download the game's demo to get the script, usually it's listed in txt elsewhere, but if it's not, I'll try and extract it for you later.
Also re: compliment. Thank you! :D
Crest Shop Revealed
When you buy an item from the Crest Shop, you do not actually "spend" the crests. The items here are one-time only purchases.
So is it that you can buy up to (Shining Crests Obtained) Worth of Crests (so it is a limit on how many crests you own/equip and not an actual currency)?
If I have 30 Onyx Crests, I can pick something up for 15 Onyx and another one up for 15 Onyx. I still have 30 Onyx Crests but I can't buy more, right?
edit: And how do you collect them? LOLEASTEREGG golden sun medals? Etrian Odyssey specific enemy kill styles? etc

Wondering if I can get away with making an entire game whose areas are all nothing but stock photos from google image search. And whether it would be easier or harder than RTP mapping.
This calls for a clever title with the initials "GIS"

I would personally dim those floor tiles to be less sharply white, because the harsh diagonal lines slice right through everything else in the room. Lots of busy white lines pulling my eyeballs all over the background - that, combined with the totally random and haphazard placement of urns and chests, makes it difficult to get a cohesive visual feel for what I should be looking at. The energy of this room needs to be directed upward and toward the center - where the action is happening.
You can accomplish this without losing the 'glass panel' look by dimming it down to a more muted gray.
It has probably been replaced by a version of the image that lacks the mistake. ;)

Methods of garnering inspiration

Obviously playing video games helps with everything.
I play videogames. If something is cool I then stop and think "Hmmm, WHAT is cool about that? How would I put the same thing in my game?" even if it isn't a feature I would really need or want in my game. It gets you thinking about the why and how, which can spark ideas when you start thinking "well, that's not going to work in my game because of the level system.... BUT! If I change it like THIS, it might be more interesting!"
As far as inspiration for writing as opposed to designing or implementing: As they say, nothing is new under the sun. Story fragments that you enjoy ("I really liked that it turned out to be her twin the whole time") can easily be reworked to fit into your setting/plot/premise. I'm not suggesting you pick a good story and rip it off (which is the opposite of my point and the opposite of your style, I would assume); just allow your thoughts to be bounced by stuff that tickles you and see where they go.

LOL, ultimate n00b question, I guess. I'll go check out some RGSS coding sites and see if I can work with something. =)
There's also an article/tutorial from kentona!
You can look at my (vague, meandering, poorly-written) blogs to see how I have been coding things by chopping up similar script blocks that work. Basically entirely self-teaching over here so probably not that helpful :B

"unknown method > for nil(nilclass)" means that the variable hp_damage had not been declared. By default, undeclared variables are registered as "nil" when used before declaration; however, nil cannot be used for comparison operations, hence the error.
case @actual_code_written
when "if hp_damage > 0"
Change hp_damage to "target.hp_damage". Don't forget to break from the method when there is no target! ("target.nil?" / "target == nil")
when "if target.hp_damage > 0"
Are you sure the error wasn't "unknown method hp_damage for nil(nilclass)"? That would mean that target was nil, and you can't reference anything from nilclass. Check that the target is correct, then use target.hp_damage. It could be, also, that hp_damage itself is nil, but then transferring nil to hpdmg wouldn't make any sense... what a peculiar bug.
end
Thank you for knowing what you're talking about. I'm self-teaching so I dunno how to express these things :B You're right, I have no idea why I wasn't using target.hp_damage (which I am aware is correct) although I'd also like to point out I lied and rage_modifiers doesn't like to be called in this manner (but I wrote my own). I wrote the bug message from memory, but it was definitely a nilclass error.
