[Poll] I HATE THE ADMINS

Was not expecting to be reminded of Meridian Dance here. I was a part of it and I don't even really understood what that site was supposed to be. Its like a weird fever dream now.

I was indirectly responsible for its demise. They set up a Subversion repository for me to check updates to my old RPG20XX emulator into, but some hacker was able to hijack the site in January of 2012 and make it redirect to spam. I was able to move everything to Assembla, but Meridian Dance only continued to exist as an IRC channel after that for a year or so.

My original frustrations that led to me leaving was nothing short of elitist, something I'm not at all proud of.

Reading old threads here has been quite a trip.

Here's the oldest screenshot of RMN I have

That feel when the 19 year old version of yourself thought they were an adult and had no idea how formative the place they signed up to would be. I really did one summer in 2009 just Google "RPG Maker Forum" and clicked onto this site.

Stolen RMN Games on Steam

Achievements were starting to get abused too. If you're wondering how, well:

New games now have to pass an algorithmic filter and then trading cards and achievements will become enabled for that developer to add.

Stolen RMN Games on Steam

They've disabled trading cards and achievements for new games understanding there's a cottage industry around selling "game shaped objects" just to abuse the system, so its not like they don't know what's going on. Its so weird how unwilling Valve is to do something about stuff like this, even if its something they can be held liable for.

The most that can be done is for you to let Sentinels of the Store know about things. There's a few members there dedicated to researching stolen games and other shady Steam store practices who might help.

The information is bundled up and Mellow Online has a few connections to media outlets through which stories can get published. Would be nice if Valve did anything about these stolen games in the first place though.

[RM2K3] How to hide resources and not trick RM3 game that they're gone

You can actually contact the Anti-Virus vendors themselves about a false positive when you're done making the game. Verify it triggers their AV and let them know. I've only had to annoy Avast with tickets before, but they will fix the issue if it's actually a false positive. I'd imagine many common AV vendors will as well.

[RM2K3] How to hide resources and not trick RM3 game that they're gone

You're simply not going to obscure the resources in a way that makes it difficult to extract them AND still be playable in RPG Maker 2003. You could import them all as "XYZ", but the "XYZ" format is pretty easy to read and decode. I've been able to decode and play games (I once wrote an engine replacement) "protected" with the plugin you're showing in the screenshot, so it follows that there could be a tool that converts all the images back into easily readable formats.

Also, if you could encrypt the resources, they have to be decrypted in order for the game to play. This requires packaging the key with the game which makes encryption entirely pointless.

Finally, if someone actually wants the resources to your game, they will obtain them. You're not going to win this battle.

Dot World Maker => Full RPG engine and editor from your browser

If multiple people can work on the same map and stuff at the same time, even showing everyone's cursors just like Google Docs, then you have something here.

Would learning to draw help me in improving my aspiring pixel art skill?

It's more of learning the basic elements of art like color, unity, etc. that will help you get better at pixel art. "Learning to draw" is kind of an oversimplification.

Crocotile 3D

Or you can just use the free open source MCEdit and export the maps to the format you want. It's got way more features too. I didn't even know it existed until I thought in my head "I'm sure someone's made an open source modeling program for Minecraft and you can just export the format" and Googled for it. I'm not even sure you actually need Minecraft if you're making a new map.

The only downside to this is that we aren't giving you money, I guess.
