What are you thinking about right now?
Thanks! Something I'm having some trouble with is the Lyrics. Some parts are too garbled, and my English is not very good for me to understand every word. Maybe if I had the lyrics correctly I could find out who sings this apparent cover. So if anyone can spare some time to write them down for me, I'd greatly appreciate that. If not, that's cool too... Ftr, I actually like the song. =P
RPG Maker MV announced for PC and MAC
Ugh, I hate coming here and finding several pages long threads, because I'm sure some interesting things have been said, but I'm just too lazy to read everything... So all I can say is that, this great news! I know not to expect much when it comes to Rpg Maker products, but the mobile device support is just too alluring a feature to let this one slip away. I just hope is not too expensive when it comes out. And I may even push myself to learn to code for once to justify that investment, so that's a good thing. xD

Sometimes I wonder. Should I go quietly, or should I "troll" my way out of here? Because you people drive me up the walls sometimes. How can you complain about something, and then do that same thing yourselves. Or at least, a very similar thing, from other perspective besides your own? Because that makes little sense. And I know this thread is not for thoughtful discussion or anything; you, like anyone else, just want to shit-post and circle-jerk every once in a while; but still...

Anyway. I've had a song stuck in my head for the last couple WEEKS, and that too is driving me insane. And I want to share the pain.

Worse thing is, I don't even know who sings this. It's from an old mixtape. But I'd like to know, to write some hate-mail to the artists. xP
Edit: =(

Enter the "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW?" topic with caution.
Haha! The thing about rmn (internet) arguments, is that they're all about who is racist, sexist, or otherwise the scum of the earth. Those who are the targets one day, take aim the next. And all without realizing we're just standing next to each other on the same numeric scale.
And from where I'm standing, it's only getting worse. Sure, in one hand we say that discussing difficult topics is welcome, but in the other, our 'tolerance' for things is slowly dwindling. As it stands, some topics are off-limits; Some words are not Ok to say, regardless of context; Games that years ago would have been accepted, no longer are; Cliques become more pronounced, and people's block-lists expand; and so on and so forth... I don't know, maybe I'm just being paranoid. But sometimes I worry. How long before this site loses the "culture war"?
But aaaanyway. I hope the thread gets re-opened soon. It would be a shame to see it go (and let Liberty have the last laugh). xD

Edit: Welp! Since since this posts didn't get deleted, I'll use this space to spare some vagrant thoughts about "character entitlement".
First of all, I think we can all understand why people don't like to see changes made in "their" characters, right? I think we've all been there.... But it's also important to understand that, even if it looks that way, people raising concerns about a character looking/being a certain way, doesn't necessarily mean they harbor resentment towards anyone else. People overall are very accepting of new characters that belong to all kinds of demographics, so, that's the wrong conclusion to make. And I would like to ask anyone who may feel bad about this, to not let their feelings of hurt cloud their judgement.
That being said. What's the counterargument? Well, you have to make people understand that those characters don't belong to "them". That they belong to their creators, and that they're perfectly free to make any changes they please. It's Ok, for them to voice their opinions, but it's not Ok to try to exert pressure on the creators to reverse (or make) changes. Or to take those frustration on the people that those characters cater to. It's not them they're upset about.
And in the case of those changes being the result of some kind of "social pressure", well, that needs to be proved. And if there's no conclusive evidence about it, then that can be swiftly dismissed... And you know what? Even if that were true, there's still some or all of the creator's own agency involved in that decision, and as such, it begets respect. It would be hypocritical to say you're for "artistic freedom" and "personal choices" only when things go your way.
I think these words would ring true among most people who complain about "political correctness" and whatnot. I'm one of them. =B

Oh, boy. This thread... Welp! I'd like to respond to some of the things said here, but, this is too much for anyone. xD Besides I'm probably the "golden mean fallacy" personified *points at avatar*, so I doubt my opinion is going to fly very well around here anyway. So, you guys keep pretending you have everything figured out and that you can speak for everybody else, and I'll just throw my support behind Max's posts. He hasn't broken anything yet, so I think that's Ok. More or less, that's where I stand on this topic too.
Just let me add this: Please, don't let something like this scare you away from playing videogames, specially when you're aware it's coming from a vocal minority. If you really feel that way, just take a break or something, and come back when you are ready. And I know this probably sounds bad to you, but, I mean... I'm fairly sure nobody wants that. That's gotta count for something.
Edit: Ok, just this one real quick...
Yes, it could mean that. ""Essentially"" But not necessarily true. And I think there's a bit of a "jump of logic" about defaulting (Heh;) to that conclusion. Specially when you pay attention to some of the arguments that follow that same train of thought: "White supremacy!", "Dehumanization!" etc. Which, imo, are worthy of a few gold medals, if you know what I'm saying. =P

The issue is with an all-white cast, you're essentially admitting that you think of white as the 'default' race...

If you really care that much about games, then what you should do is: #GiveYourMoneyToArtists xD If I needed not to worry about putting food on my table, I could quit my day job and work on games/art 24/7 and make it all public domain. And it would be real easy to sustain me too, I figure about a thousand bucks a month would be enough... Here, let me set up a Patreon account... =P

Prudes are prudes.
Fixed. =^)
Seriously, though. A woman gives you her honest take on the scene and you dismiss it as a "colossal cock-up". Yeah, makes sense. And all because your own sensibilities don't allow you to fathom your point of view (or the one you perceive belongs to women as a group) is not universal. I'm sure there are plenty of women who would be Ok with that scene/game. Just as there are those who would not be Ok with it. As there are men. And each with their own reasons too! But if you're willing to legitimize only those who agree with you, well, I'm sure there's a name for that... Luckily, creating art is not a democracy. Yet. And I'll be damned if it ever is.

But now that I think of it. I never played that game back in the day. I guess it's time to get into it, and mail Eidos a couple bucks. =)

I love how Tomb Raider is the go-to game for the kind of people who likes to rag about this stuff, but never bothered to look at the actual games. Below the surface of the stereotypical "druggie" fan and the publicity stunts, lies a genuine work of love. A game filled with action, puzzles, good level design, a flair from cultures from all around the world, and of course, awesome characters. And it was like that from the very beginning too... But no, I guess gaining an informed and nuanced understanding of things is just too much to ask for. =P
D'aww. Well, you know what they say, great minds white guys with non-controvertial opinions, think alike. xD

Sometimes I think about weighing in on a topic, but if I wait long enough AE comes in and says something close to what I would say :P Guess that makes me a wet blanket, too.
