Mog's (Semi) Daily Game Recommendations (games you should play why haven't you yet)

<came from rmvx.net lulz>
I found your topic!

So yeah, I actually have never played suikoden. I always wanted to but didnt want to spend a shit load on the game on amazon or ebay.

I love some of the music and watching gameplay on youtube it seemed like a lot of fun. Just wish I had a ps3 to download it there or a working emulator lol. I gotta admit, im too lazy to configure espxe lol.

Do you kill bugs?

I kill bugs if they bother me. Not just if i see them.

If its annoying me, i kill it, I dont feel any remorse for it.

If a badger or squirrel or gopher or whatever is bothering me, digging up my flowers, garden, I kill it.

I feel no remorse for them. Yes they are trying to provide for their families, just sucks for them that they tried to take my stuff.

Did you want to make an RPG/Game? Be honest!

I wanted to make an RPG since I was like 7, around age 12 I found a game maker type dealy and went "Hmm, I wonder if an RPGMaker exists" Then I found RPGMaker for the ps1.

After many many terrible hours I made a game... But i wanted it to look like it was from snes. So I went back on the internet and looked.

Eventually I found Don Miguels site and found RPGmaker 2000. I crapped my pants with happiness and set out to me the rpg I always wanted to. And I did. So yeah I wanted to make an rpg. And I went looking to do just that.

if you were a final fantasy character, who would you be and why?

Bartz from ff5 in blue mage form.

fucking love blue mages.

A player's humble request.

This is one of the first things I tried to do when learning to make games.

I always hated fighting bats/slimes/rats for the first hour of a game. It was always so boring but it seemed like everyone did it.

Even at low levels status ailments are a great idea, actually, at low levels is the best time to do it because there isn't much else that the players do yet.

This is the best advice to give any newbie to game creation.

Which game was the biggest disappointement for you?

I haven't liked any games since ps2. And even then they were just "ok."

I was really excited for Donkey Kong Country returns... but I was bored when I got it. And don't even get me started on Kirby's Epic Yarn... uhg no powers... uhg.

I haven't liked a FF game since 9. I didnt like 8 much, it was fun, but it was too easy. FF3, not 6, is my favorite. The NES one, not the ds one.

I guess I just don't like new games. Gimme my snes and a weekend as a 10 year old again and I'll be the happiest person ever! Give me a ps2 and being a teenager and Ill just be bored as hell.

I am kinda excited for Skyrim though... but meh... I dont even know when its coming out lol.

Seeing monster vs random encouters

For a zombie game I'd say event, but I personally don't like zombie games.

I love random encounters, I dont like knowing when Im going to get into a fight.

One thing about evented monsters is that its easier to control how much exp a player can get in a certain dungeon. Which is always nice, but I like the random more still.

What the hell did you/do you wanna be?

My entire life I wanted to make videogames. Literally since I was in first grade. I started using rpgmaker 2000 in 2002 when i was 12 to get a lot of my ideas out, and to make them a reality. It was exhilarating. But nearing the end of highschool I dated this one girl who didnt think that it would be a "real" job. And because I was a sap I went along with her... for 4 YEARS!!! That relationship ended about 8 months ago, but I was stupid and went straight into another one that did the same thing, except only for 6 months.

But during that time I went to college for game programming. It was horrible. My teachers were terrible, the corriculum was pathetic, I hated everything about it. So I gave up the dream.

Now that Im alone again,(not such a bad thing) I have had time to think and realize that making games is what i love. But not what my college was teaching me. I hate the coding, or at least with c++ and flash, I dont mind RGSS2 so much, but its still not my thing. What i love to do is design. I love making where everything is, how long it takes to get from point a to b, why things are happening, what things are happening. Thats what I love. But im terrified to go back to college, I feel like I will just find myself in another shitty college filled with bad teachers and a bad corriculum.

Back in 5th grade we had a science fair. I made a hangman game in QBasic... and won! It was awesome, but I hated coding it. And literally never touched coding again until college.

I still want to make games, but Im not sure if it can be my career any longer. I think it will have to stay a hobby in my life. I want it to be a career though.

Ive been thinking of becoming a math teacher. Im good at math, and am a good teacher already so it would be something. But teaching seems like its everyones fall back job, and I dont want to subjugate myself to a fall back. I want to do what I love in life, not just what will get me by.
