No problem, I'll take a look when your file is up.
edit: Okay, it looks like a bug. I'll get to fixing it for the next release. Thanks much.
If you need a workaround in the mean time, change the name of the file to "story_21.txt" and it should work.

Crystalis: Sonata of the Far-Away Sky
Will you be able to walk diagonally? Diagonal walk and fast move speed were a huge part of what made that game imo. Crystalis was more fast-paced than Zelda and I liked it better for that and other reasons.

Here's the .psd file. Thanks again.
Can we try a different color for her eyes? I actually envision Tsubasa to be a beauty underneath those glasses notwithstanding her self-consciousness. There is another phone conversation in which you learn she used to be a child model, which ties in with the conversation about the photographer near the jewelry shop. There is also an event in which you convince her to show up without her glasses on and she looks stunning (or is supposed to).
There is no command to change player attributes, but I agree that would be hilarious :D
@Marrend
All your quoting from games and books is reminding me of Mei Ling from Metal Gear Solid :P

Yeah but if a bug is worth fixing for testers it's worth fixing for everyone.
It's silly to be worrying about this. It's not as if I'm spamming.
@Animetor
Thanks, and here are some hints:
There are three ways to meet Akari (dark-haired girl):
Method 1 -- In a Miki event, for a set of two choices with the first being a Mind check, take the second choice. Later, there will be a choice with a Soul check in a Keika event. Take the first choice and pass the Soul check.
Method 2 -- In a Riho event, for a set of two choices with the first being an Athletics check, take the second choice. (you won't be able to get Riho's ending, however)
Method 3 -- In a Tsubasa event, for a set of two choices with the first being a Mind check, take the second choice. (you won't be able to get Tsubasa's ending, however0
Once you have gotten Akari's affection up a bit, there will eventually be two opportunities to meet Hinami (orange-haired girl).

I'll see what I can do to accommodate you....
@dude797
In order for ID=2 to be recognized as Keika, the profiles file that contains Keika's profile must be listed at the beginning of the file. So just change the very first line in your file from "21_profile.txt" to "21_profile.txt, game_profiles.txt". (otherwise it assumes ID=2 means an NPC whose name is "2")
I'm glad this came up btw because I found a parsing error along the way. That error message you're getting about "ID STAY" being invalid--just ignore it. That's a glitch that'll be fixed in the next release.

I think I like the Steel blue the best although Dodger blue would also have worked.
Would you be willing to do more? I could let you pick a color for Tsubasa's eyes since I don't have one in mind. We'll skip Shihoko & Riho per Mintberry's Crunch's suggestion.

Yep, do look at the built-in stories as I think that may be the best way to get an idea of how it's done. And if anything in the help file is ever confusing, please don't hesitate to tell me!
Eventually I think it would be cool if someone made a youtube tutorial or something :whistle: (someone other than myself so that users can have a second person's explanation)
@dude797
Awesome. Let's see, I don't have a definitive idea of what eye colors to change except that I am satisfied with Miki's eyes as is. So any other character...maybe let's start with Keika. Do ya suppose blue eyes would suit her?
Will you be cut/copying the new eyes onto the existing images included with the game, or should I send you a .psd with the hair color etc already altered?
Oh, and your custom character looks very unique! I like.

Er, what should I do then? The release I put up yesterday addressed a prominent game-crashing error that one of the testers found and that many people who download the game would encounter if left unaddressed. If it was just spelling errors or such I would have waited.
Testing
For Story 2, if the player chooses "(Soul) (Mind) I could really use the study" and is able to pass the rather unusual requirements, she makes an appearance on the screen, gives her name and her which class she's in (the closest thing to "age" as one gets in this game). To have her graphic appear, I'm going to have a "ID = 10" line somewhere in Story 2. Therefore, she needs to be introduced before then. Or, like you suggest, I allow Story 2 to be her "official" introduce event. Right?
Okay, that's right. If her graphic is going to appear then disguising her as a vanilla NPC won't work.
My very first run-through, I was like, "Wait, Masako's Heartache is 1/1 at LOVESICK. Does that mean...?" Sure enough, by the end of the next day, I get a message saying that Masako is annoyed at me. I was like, "Wait, what? How can Masako be annoyed at me if she knows full well that I no longer have access to her? She's smarter than that! Besides, if she's really that lonely, wouldn't she call me?"
The release I put up yesterday prevents the heartache counter from incrementing if phone number is unknown and encounters are off.
Also, getting the generic ending with her, after seeing the sequence where she talks about returning home was pretty nonsensical too. I was like, "Wait, when did Masako return!?" Of course, I'm talking about a generic ending, so this might be a moot point.
Hmm, that's true. But I'm not sure I should rewrite generic endings to accommodate one custom character.
