Hali's Review Thread (Request Your Game!)

I don't know how long King of Grayscale or Road to Paradise are, but you'll have at least a few weeks anyway.

Shooty videos have started going up. It's three parts long plus one little addendum. The rest will become available in the next two days.

Hali's Review Thread (Request Your Game!)

Welp, Shooty Ep.1 was a one-sitting game. It took me just over an hour to get through the episode. The recordings are going up for the next few days, and I'll write up a review/draw up a picture soon enough. It's nice to do short games sometimes. :3

Quest Questers Review

Yeah, while it would be nice to have everything doodle-fied, I can understand how charsets would be difficult. Animating those cleanly usually requires some level of uniformity. That's not so easy in a hand-drawn style. Anyway, it didn't hamper the game as a whole, so I didn't see any reason to hold that against it.

Quest Questers Review

I only say that from my own experience making what are essentially doodles as artwork. A lot of people seem to have this conception of what makes graphics quote-unquote "good" and simpler things like this may get overlooked just for that reason alone. It's a limited point of view, but it's out there.

A-Questing We Will Go...

Look guys, it didn't take eight months! Yeah! The playlist is complete too, so you can watch the whole series if you want! Though I recommend 150% speed 'cuz even short RPGs are kinda lengthy.

Next up, I'll be playing Shooty and the Catfish. It will be recorded as well, so stay tuned!

Now where's Brickroad :P

He's still being a butt. You can "buy" an LP from him on his Patreon for $50, and I intend to when I can afford such an extravagance.

SRW2: Yoshi's Archipelago Review

Wow, it finally happened. It took two years, but this game finally got a review! And what a review it is. It's pretty interesting to see this from the perspective of someone who isn't at all familiar with Mario. I can understand the trouble you had remembering the controls, but I promise you, everything you can do is explained in the tutorial stages at one point or another. I wouldn't say this game is suited to being someone's first Mario experience, but you still managed to fully clear it after all.

Just a couple things I want to note: graphical inconsistency is mostly due to the fact that this game draws its resources from all the 16-bit Mario games. Since the collab let people make whatever stages they wanted, we only tried to keep graphics consistent within each level instead of in the game as a whole.

Next, you don't need a leaf in Naval Piranha's Bog to hit that block. If you freeze an enemy with the ice flower, you can kick the ice into the block instead.

Also, it's not a bug that the blue fireballs can damage the Clown Car. It's safe to touch enemies, but not the things they throw. It'd be pointless if it made you invincible.

In spite of the troubles you had, I'm happy to see you enjoyed it enough to give it such a high score. Thanks so much for playing!

I don't know what's up with that horse, but I'm scared.

I finished my playthrough of Quest Questers! There are two more videos going on the playlist, and I'll submit the LT as media to the gamepage once they're up. I'll also be writing my review and drawing a li'l picture over the weekend unless demotivation strikes me once again.
