I'll have to disagree, you can still take and compare crime statistics from different countries with the use of population samples to create a accurate comparison. As long as the sample is random and large enough, nine times out of ten it would be a close estimate irregardless of population size.
Okay, can you be specific on what you think needs to happen, and what works for both Liechtenstein and the US?

I never said America doesn't influence almost the entire world, I was merely stating that it sounded nationalist.

Headdesk. There are so many things wrong with this.
1) One can think their country is "great" without being a "nationalist."
2) 100,000 ton luxury liner was a metaphor for the largeness of the USA versus a single small European country.
3) World-spanning empire. Are you saying it's not? Even the most ignorant, anti-American drooling idiot would have to acknowledge that America is a superpower and its influence reaches everywhere. It's a fact, not an opinion.
4) Do you have a problem with me thinking my own country is great? Do you think your country is great?

Nobody here or in government has the right answer, because there is no right answer. We can't put an army in every school, we can't get rid of guns, we can't preemptively try and arrest someone who might commit a crime.
This is a symptom of an underlying cultural problem that allows kids to fall through the cracks and feel like they have nothing to live for, and no where to belong. It didn't happen overnight and it won't be fixed overnight.
But in the mean time, our Republic will sustain terrible blows like this massacre, and it has to remain strong enough to maintain its freedoms rather than allow for the giving up of liberty to gain security. That requires people on both sides of the isle to set aside their personal agendas.
And what works for the rest of the world will not necessarily work here. This country is not only enormous and diverse, but it is rather unique. I am sick to death of hearing a European talk about how something worked for their 2-mile-long country with a population of 500,000 and a military budget of 0. The USA is not only geographically huge, but it is a world-spanning empire and a "federation" style government, as in, decentralized power structure in government. It's like saying what's best for the rowboat is best for the 100,000 ton luxury liner.

Yeah so, do you know how many people I could kill tomorrow, just by driving my car into a busy downtown sidewalk? It would be a bloodbath. All it would require would be my willingness to do so. Outlaw cars.
Regardless of the "regulation" of cars, I, like most people, have covered all their car regulation bases and are lawful drivers and car owners. It's really quite easy to do this.
However, none of those laws and regulations (many of which are unnecessary, like property taxes on a goddamn car...) will not prevent me from later going crazy and deciding to drive down 3rd ave in downtown Seattle, inevitably squishing dozens of people.
Hell, even if I didn't own a car, or had a criminal background, I could take a car from a dealership for a test drive and do this.
Oh, I'm also a former teacher. At 185lbs of muscle, I could substitute teach a 5th grade class, block the exit, and kill every child with my bare hands. Ban... hands.
So they regulate double-bladed knives in Australia? Fine, I'll just use a hammer. One blow with the heavy end of a hammer to the skull = dead. Ban hammers.
Or maybe I'll just google how to build a bomb out of easy-to-obtain retail stuff. After a little bit of trail-and-error, build a homemade bomb. Then blow people up. Ban paper clips and chewing gum.
What I'm getting at is, none of these murders happen without a willing killer. And a willing killer will find a way to kill, regardless of the tools available.
