Holy shit I wish I lived in the US
That 9 year old girl makes an RPG kickstarter was some seriously well done internet beg by Susan Wilson.
She bobbed and weaved through genuine criticism, a shady past, a blatantly sexist (anti male) narrative, and hundreds and hundreds of people reporting the project as a violation of terms.
Yet, somehow, she convinced Kickstarter to delete dissenting posts, and even got Dell and MIT on board with her... um... project.
So then it became not about sending her to camp, but paying for her future college tuition, or something. Nobody really knows. But Susan is a genius at this stuff, I have to give her that. Hiding behind a 9 year old girl: invincibility shield.

The gay marriage debate...
Since no one here disagrees, and if someone did they'd literally be murdered by an angry mob, why does the debate rage on?
Star Stealing Prince
Yikes.
Vinicius's post was not inflammatory or unreasonable. He's just someone who happened to dislike one feature of a game that is generally held in high regard.
We have to allow for dissenting opinions. I didn't used to take criticism well, but since my 3rd indie game was released, I've met dissenters with a smile and a thank you, rather than telling them how rude or wrong they are. After all, if they're taking the time to comment about your game, they like your game enough to care about what they think is wrong with it.

In which country do you live.
My country is huge and diverse, each of the 50 states representing a kickass federation-style government designed to protect the citizens from itself. We are known as dumb rednecks and lazy fat people, yet were the first to the Moon and Mars, and consistently win the Olympics. 'Murrica represent.
Sexy advise to all. DO NOT create a sandbox. instead, create an illusion that keeps the player in your grasp. If the player is free to do W/E, they will probably run into a quality problem. Bridge free roam with FF13. Making a RM Skyrim is idiotic, IMO.
You're not going to hurt my feelings by tearing down Skyrim, but I don't buy the case you're making. Sounds a bit too influenced by the negative experience from Oblivion's main quest which, I agree, is rather monotonous. However, Skyrim's main quest is magnitudes better than Oblivion's. Fighting dragons is the only annoyance, and with a few mods that problem is solved. Most experienced players delay the main quest so they can dink around for a good 100 hours before the first dragon appears.
Bethesda games are what you make of them. If you are an ODC min-maxer, then yes you will find yourself searching for the most efficient way to level up and acquire things, and often times that involves tedium - tedium that you forced upon yourself since the game does not require grinding. (No one relies on woodcutting for regular income.) So I'd wager sandbox games are just not your bag.
Consider also that Bethesda had to carefully limit how much impact players and the main quest have on the world. If you wipe out a town, suddenly several quest chains will be broken. They had to create a huge, ungodly amount of content that all works together and doesn't break each other, and that's difficult.

Skyrim is just way too huge, and would've been better with more direction. I find that people who make RPG Maker gamz tend to stop giving their players direction and purpose, which ends up discouraging players from doing anything. I find myself in a situation all too often where there is FAR TOO MUCH to do. It starts to get confusing and spoils the whole experience.
Sorry to say here, but you're in the minority. Bethesda fans like more, not less. They like lore, things to do, places to go. Compared to other sandbox games, Skyrim goes out of its way to direct the player through the main quest.
But yes, one should never attempt total sandbox with RPGMaker.
So, you guys who know how to play piano...
Piano is a beautiful instrument in that it requires both down-and-dirty mechanical muscle mastery as well as more academic learning.
For muscle mastery, scales scales scales. C major first. Start simple, 1 octave in the right hand. Middle C, up to the next C, back down to middle C. Strictly follow finger usage rules. Thumbs on C and F, use the rest sequentially. Then do 2 octaves.
Step it up to the circle of 5ths. C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, and so on. After a while, you should be able to slam through all the scales in multiple octaves with the right hand. Repeat with left hand. Then repeat with both hands. Once you can do all major scales with both hands, you're a boss.

[Poll] Console Debate
Tough one.
If separating PS1 from PS2 to games exclusive to PS2, then SNES is obviously the winner. However, I never had a PS1 and instead played all PS1 games on the PS2, which resulted in a ridiculous amount of awesome gaming experiences... PS1/PS2 are kinda melded together in my mind and would tie SNES.
