*I consider brain better than the rest of the competition because I have so much fun with it. Yes. My brain is a gaming console. >.<

Does it have free multiplayer or do I need to pay for a subscription service?

What's your opinion on "cliched" games?

LOOK AT ME I AM AN ART MAJOR

You're splitting hairs with vocabulary here man. You know exactly what I meant. I was talking about sexy fanservice and arguing about how it is a disservice to otherwise serious writing. This is a different matter from the sort of carnal, sexual undertones in Classical art that you're discussing.

Also, the words "Political story" completely turned off my desire to continue playing it. I don't like the music either, and normally I like listening to FF soundtracks.

Well the music was pretty bad so maybe that's why? There are a lot of Japanese game composers that follow the same pattern that this game's does (Sakimoto; this pattern also applies to Mitsuda and the woman who wrote the Wild Arms soundtrack as well as many others) whose first soundtrack was amazing and was for a popular game so everyone assumes they are really good! We as fans are always psyched about whatever new game they are composing for. However 10 years later they still haven't put out a decent soundtrack and I'm left wondering why they are so popular in the first place.

But then I've seen people almost come to blows over their conflicting views on FFXII at a games convention - now that is something to worry about ;)

$500 says that in five years FFXII will be a celebrated classic and everyone will agree it is an amazing must-play game. Five years after *that*, everyone will decide it is cool to have the other opinion and it will be one of the most-reviled games ever created.

Who are these new guys? [Contributors & Staff]

author=kentona link=topic=921.msg12901#msg12901 date=1208896397
I've unstickied this topic.

Just to let everyone know, the Contributors and Staff have already come on board the RMN tradition of coming up with a bunch of good ideas and then not implementing them! (Well, except for BlindMind and his resource repository - way to break the mold, dude).

Keep up the good work team! Make holb proud!

I was straightforward that I would not have time to do anything useful for the first month or two when WIP and I talked about me becoming a Contributor. >:(

Asteroids, Sharing and Honesty. Let's see what you come up with!

This is a simulation game set in outerspace. It is set in the near future where our race can explore the solar system but not colonize planets or anything. It has been found that asteroids and other kuiper belt objects have valuable minerals in them and that it is practical to mine them.

You represent one of many competing corporate interests in the mining effort. Since it is too expensive to mine on one company's own, they all have to work together. The game mechanics revolve around balancing budgets and alliances -- you can make more money by betraying other companies at the right time, but this is balanced by the notion that you have to share the work between companies or else it will be impossible to do.

I like how they did the fence in that screen.
Worked on this a bit.

Wow that wall looks perfect man. I really like the banners too. That green floor is FREAKING ME OUT though I really have to say.

I really liked it, although not quite as much as Dragon Quest VIII. Maybe that's a bad thing.

No way man that's fine. Dragon Quest 8 is regarded by all reasonable people as the best video game ever made.

Well, I'm going for straight lines rather than rounded shapes like you're using there.
Like this:

(FF5, not mine)

Well, the tiling is pretty obvious here though. Maybe I need a different example. Whoops.

Or maybe I could just go with the rounded shapes and see how that goes.

Well you should go all the way in either direction. FFV looks consistent because it has a very boxy motif, and FFVI looks consistent because it has a wild, chaotic motif.
