The floor could stand to be better. I'll go and fix it soon once I start working on the next tileset tutorial. I'll make an image of just that floor tile so I can check out the tiling and try to kill it (I noticed some now that I'm looking at it). I could also make it a 32x32 pattern instead of 4 16x16 ones so the tiling is less obvious.
Well see I am awful at graphics but I made a floor tile that is exactly the same as yours and it took me all night to get it right because I suck so I thought I would offer my experiences! Here is the graphic:

This is from a prototype and the graphics aren't done obviously but you can see how I avoided geometric shapes in it. However you can still notice the big green blob so it needs fixing.

Women are fun to draw. They have amazing shapely bodies that allow for a huge variety of outfits and styles... from scantily clad dancer types, to elegant princesses, to heavily armored paladiny types. I always feature and exaggerate the shape of a woman's body when making graphics for female characters, it seperates them from male characters and is attractive... which can easily be done without becoming too overtly sexual.
Well yeah there is a difference between a heroine who happens to be beautiful and a sex symbol. To revisit Lost Odyssey, Seth is an example of a woman who is a heroine that happens to be pretty and have an attractive figure but is not necessarily a sex symbol.

Will get real pictures of the rest of the apartment later. But since STUPID CATS define my apartment this is really all you need.

IF YOU HAVE NOT TRIED DELICIOUS MELTED CHEESE ON BREAD YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON LIFE
But seriously, haven't you guys ever gone to college? This is like, staple.
Yes I have been in college for about 19 years and I have never eaten crap like that. I'm pretty sure that the bread turns out soggy and the cheese turns out half-melted yuck. Maybe you should try making a proper grilled cheese sandwich? I make those all the time.
But I don't know I am not the bachelor college kid sort of guy and more like the quiet fag with an apartment who happens to also attend college kind of guy.

Just tried out my tileset in RMVX. RMVX was kinda fun to play around with, but I'll save doing my actual project until later.
Wow awesome rough draft dude. I will suggest two things because it seems like you are asking for suggestions (otherwise why post man). I am being picky because I love you:
- I love your colors and the windows are gorgeous.
- Your floors look a little too boxy. I like the tile mosaic idea, but you need to eliminate any suggestion of geometric shapes in the tiles. If you relax your eyes, you will notice straight lines going down and going sideways making a grid. This is kind of opposite of the point of a mosaic. To fix this, you should vary the shades of your tiles more (try shades of slate-blue, slate-green, slate-yellow etc), and you should make the tiles so that there are no straight lines going all the way across.
- Also the floors look too busy, but I think that is because I see straight lines.
- I don't know how but can you do something with the walls so that they aren't just a solid shade of red? Flat shades are great if you use flat shades for everything. Because you aren't, though, the walls look plain.
But anyway great spriting overall man. Just watch out for geometric shapes in your tiles because a lack of any geometric shapes is what makes people love tiles from SD3, Terranigma, FF6, etc.

So what if busty characters that don't wear much are used often? That's the type of girl I want to see in the game. Or do you want the love interest to be a fat ugly girl? I don't.
Jesus man there are so many things wrong with this. There are basic ideas in film and literature that are well-established that you cannot have sexy and meaningful at the same time. If you do, it is only in rape scenes, and if you find those sexy you are a sociopath.
My favorite example is Lost Odyssey and the character of Ming. I could write about her all day, but basically my problems with her stem from her like fifteen visible thongs (why is she wearing so many pair of underwear????) and her enormous disgusting pale boobs (that are really veiny and extra gross). She is completely disgusting. She is a walking vagina and I guess if you like DDDDDD breasts you might like to look at her and I guess that's fine, but when the game tries to bill her as a meaningful character I just can't really buy it. I prefer to keep my pornography and my video games separate. When the game has her in a scene and is like hey this is serious story business this is real art guys, but then you see her fucking boobs, you're kind of left in this awkward place between sexy and meaningful. You can't have both at the same time and if you think you can you are kidding yourself.
Civilization Series Discussion
I respect Sid Meier even though I think he makes awful games, but I've never played a Civ game. I see people playing them and it looks like a graphical spreadsheet and while I love making my numbers go up in RPGs, making my numbers go up in a spreadsheet doesn't hold the same appeal.
FFXII Discussion topic
author=Enker link=topic=951.msg12840#msg12840 date=1208869449
FFXII managed to split the fanbase down the middle, there are those that love it and those who hate it - and all of them have been playing FF for years. Even in my friends circle of long-time players we're split between hating and loving it.
Dude how long have you been playing videogames? Every Final Fantasy game does this. However since every RPG fan buys every Final Fantasy game it isn't really relevant to the series' popularity. But you may have read threads about FF7 and whether or not it is the best game ever, FF8 and whether or not it is the *worst* game ever, FF9 and whether or not it was the most successful throwback ever, FF10 and whether or not it was the most disgusting game ever, and FF11 and whether or not it was the best MMO ever. Also, whether or not the SNES games were the best games ever and it's been downhill from there (because what I grow up with the BEST damn it (although they really are probably the most polished games of the series (also WIP thinks that the SNES games are the best and I need to pander to him or he will ban me))).
I think that this is game is ridiculously brilliant and people do not like it because they were disappointed that it was not what they expected out of a new Final Fantasy (maybe they should play Lost Odyssey which was pretty good too). If this had been billed as a new IP or something I don't think anyone in the world would have ever said anything bad about it. They would have praised its story, which was pretty good come on guys it wasn't like a clitched Tales Of story or anything, its sense of style, its immense scope, and the way that it integrated random battles into the exploration system so that the game was stilted and weird.
I liked the story a lot more than other Final Fantasy game stories because it took it easy on the ridiculousness! Most Final Fantasy games are outrageous guys. FFXII was substantially less outrageous. It had more mature themes (even though they were pretty hackneyed and I had played Final Fantasy Tactics already which is the same story), less talkative characters, and seemed like something to serve the gameplay rather than the other way around.
Also I want to root for the game because it had the most troubled development cycle ever. It went through four directors, one of whom was in the hospital for years, and another of whom (Kawauzu who directed the SaGa games) brought in a bunch of his own people who thought that the story was ridiculous and the game sucked and demanded that they basically start out. I've read interviews about epic, clenched-fist arguments in the development offices. The reason this game took so long to develop (god I don't know ten years??) was because there were opposing factions on the team who were not interested in making the same game. I think that's also why there are a lot of weird oversights -- it seems like many cutscenes are mysteriously missing and many of the game mechanics are half-baked (lol License Grid).
The re-release in Japan added a job system and apparently the game's mechanics become amazing and just like Final Fantasy Tactics and I cut myself when I discovered it had no English text.
But seriously if anyone says anything bad about Final Fantasy XII I will have to write a dissertation.
Also I lost my save file in a horrible PS3 update accident and I cut myself every day. I started over the other day and then looked up a FAQ for missable items (like WHICH RANDOM THREE TREASURE CHESTS IN THE GAME NOT TO OPEN Jesus Christ) but I was intimidated by the scale and gave up.
Card Sagas Wars!
author=WIP link=topic=938.msg12779#msg12779 date=1208808877
No it isn't the same thing, man. You probably don't understand Smash Bros. because you just think it's a FANBOY CIRCLE JERK when it's only HALF fanboy circle jerk. The rest is gameplay balance and options.
Well I bought Super Smash Bros. on day one and I like it a lot but I really do think it's 100% fanboy circle jerk. I guess you can turn items off and everything and it sort of like a real fighter, but I'd rather play a real fighter at that point instead (like Mortal Kombat).

Plus, Nintendo uses their own characters and to good effect. Card Sagas Wars takes characters from pretty much every corner of the video game world and tries to shove them into this single game.
I know and especially because this is MUGEN it will probably be the most ridiculous and amazing thing ever. I think that this project is especially exciting for people are familiar with the MUGEN scene; apparently most MUGEN games just take sprites from random games and jam them together and people kind of think it's funny but whatever. This game is basically the ultimate and the most well-done version of that.
Also this game will have the same controls as Super Smash Bros. so it really is 100% exactly the same thing.
