Funnest part of RPGs?
Well I don't really care about any particular feature as long as the game has sound enough vision to do whatever it tries to do effectively. I tend to like character customization systems a lot, but at the same time I like Final Fantasy 4 because ever pre-made character you are stuck with is unique from everyone else and the game's scenarios are built around them.
While I always like good stories, if there's one thing I can stand *not* having in an RPG, it's a serviceable story. I'm just fine playing an excellent game that has a terrible story; I will not however sit through a boring game in order to see a good story (Suikoden 4 for example).

The story and characters seem good enough, and the idea of exploring 1000 years of memories is interesting enough in itself. One thing I noticed almost immediately was some really stupid art direction.
The character design in general is really awful. Wait until you see the Ming's disgusting massive, veiny boobs and Sed's epic-sized fannypack.

Those are my two favorite games ever. I've done this a few times at this forum already so I won't explain why in great detail. Basically I like RPGs and I like clever writing and good music and I like exploring and I like stylish graphics and a neat setting and I especially like strategic turn-based combat and crunching numbers and customizing characters and levelling them up. These two games have all of those elements in differing amounts so they totally rock.

I'm a big proponent of the open source movement, so I'm perfectly fine with people taking any code I've done for my games--in fact, I document it specifically so people will use it if they can figure it out.
I have looked at some of your code before and your comments are very helpful.
