Grave Spirit Review
And now I reveal... MY FINAL FORM! HAHAHA!
post=145187
Saruin form Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song comes to mind, right down to the point about the music. He only has two forms, and the first is only meant to trick you into overextending yourself or draining your resources. However, the second...the second form is one of those video game boss fights where when you beat it, it's less of "Oh gee guys what a challenging battle" and more like "OH THANK JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY"
This really is just about the best boss fight I've ever finished in an RPG. It's just so amazing.
... and the guitar solos ...

Best VG Soundtracks + overrated
My favorite 3 are:
1. Dragon Quest 8
2. Mega Man 2
3. Xenosaga 3
My favorite game composer overall is Koichi Sugiyama. I really like his non-game music too. I used to love Mitsuda and Uematsu, because I grew up listening to their music, but I am not so crazy about them anymore.
I wish there were more ambitious Western game soundtracks. I feel like there are a lot of talented composers who aren't given thefreedom to do really good stuff.
My favorite Western game composer only did one soundtrack: Ben Vogue, for Arcanum.

Craze's Dirty Little Secret
This is probably pretty common in the best games. For example, there is a reason why Resident Evil 4 always had just the right feeling of danger and intensity (look it up).
We hate finding out about these things, but when we don't know they are happening, we praise the game's intangible but perfect sense if gameplay balance.
