A or B (spriting question)

As for the hair, I say pony tail. I don't see priestesses sporting pony tails that often.

Okay, be honest: When is the last time you actually saw a priestess AT ALL?????

Please consider donating to the Haiti earthquake situation!

Donation is successful.

I spent $35 on a video game last night. The game kind of sucked. All I could think about is how much good that $35 could have done I wasted it on a stupid video game that I don't even like.

EDIT: Also I was sort of thinking about how a $35 video game is like an hour or two's worth of work for me but for someone in Haiti it is like a month's salary.

Wow this brings me back like 15 years or more.

Some new songs!

So I thought that the first post was a joke. The music is really awful.

However, the second set is excellent!

I looked up some of your old posts . . . you had said someone told you that your "avant garde" pieces were good? I don't know who convinced you of that because they really do just sound like random clicks in a MIDI editor. Were you messing with us or something? It is definitely not avant garde music. It's . . . something else entirely different and sort of terrifying.

Also I do not understand why any of these do not have any names. It's kind of suspicious that someone would put a lot of effort into a piece of music and then not bother to give it a name.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

You know you can always play whatever video game you want. It's not like a job or anything where someone is forcing you to finish it.

A montage of thoughts about several games

On the topic of Final Fantasy games . . .

I was playing FFXII the other day and I got to the part where you visit the viera city in the forest. My girlfriend asked me why I was playing a game where you visited a magical forest full of leggy bunny women in lingerie. I then realized it was basically the Playboy mansion. It's extremely mysoginistic really.

The most must-have rpg for the psp

Crimson Gem Saga. That's Astonishia Story 2, isn't it? I thought that looked pretty bad from first impressions. Was it actually alright, then?

It's not bad. The PSP is full of RPGs that are just "not bad" rather than RPGs that are really exceptional though. The reviews were pretty positive. The Metacritic average is not very good because there are a small number of reviews but it's at least a good place to find a list of them:

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/psp/crimsongemsaga?q=crimson gem saga

The strangest thing about the game though is that you move your character with the dpad on pre-rendered backgrounds that are generally placed at isometric 30 degree angles . . . but your character moves straight up and at 45 degree diagonals. So the dpad is not shifted to match to angle that the environment is drawn in like it is in Final Fantasy games using the same art style.

ALSO, about Crisis Core and it's "random" leveling up:

This is a problem with the interface with the player. It is not really random, but it seems random and does its best to appear like it is random. The game convinces you that it is random but that you have generally good luck that is not exceptionally good luck. The end result is the same as other RPGs; e.g., you fight battles and gain levels. However, the player does not really feel like the mechanics are very solid.

I ate too much for dinner.

I am afraid that if I eat too much for dinner on a regular basis that I will get fat. And if I am fat nobody will love me :(

The Legend of Heroes (A Tear of Vermillion)

I played the entire Legend of Heroes series when they were new and I was excited to play literally anything on PSP.

It was not really great but was not quite exceptionally bad either. The light, digestible anime writing was good enough to keep my occupied in bed before I went to sleep every night. What do you think about it?

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Final Fantasy XII International, English patch, courtesy of help from GreatRedSpirit. I guess I am pirating it, but I own a PS2 and FFXII so whatever.

It's the version FFXII really should have been in many many small ways. It looks reasonable in high-def; I've hooked my PC up to my TV and I'm playing with a PS3 controller, so I have a satisfactory illusion of playing FFXII International legitimately in high definition. It's really surprising, but late-era PS2 games in high definition look better than most PS3 launch games do if you run them in a higher resolution.
