tactical rpgs like fire emblem?

Are there any games on this site with tactical rpg like features, like advanced wars and fire emblem?

Misaos

The system is wrong... youtube and newgrounds uses a simple system like this, anyone at all can vote and judge a game. But those are uploaded games, meant to entertain usually between 15 minutes and an hour, and no installation/ download/ download rgss stuff/download the type of maker/ install them, then play a fan game you just spent 2 hours stressfully installing all that stuff to do, only to find out the game might not be good as advertised, or not be compatable with your pc, or that you forget what part of the site it was on or get too lazy to vote. This conflict will result in poorer than necessary reviews and votes for reasons outside of the creators control.

On youtube many thousands of people vote on videos, but only a handful o those votes are from trolls who, inevitably vote low simply because of their own high perception of themselves. This: "anyone can vote, and every vote is extremely important" thing gives too much power to anyone who wants their own awards without judging who deserves a proper award.

Still, I'll keep an open mind, let's see how it goes. I mean, there's only so many ways this can go, right? Let's see whether or not this is the right one.

1) You're seven months late to the party

2) You have it backwards. Games made later in the year ALWAYS have an advantage over games made early in it because people are more likely to remember something they played in November than they did in, say, February. Allowing them to vote all year means they can cast votes for games that impress them as they play them rather than trying to remember what they played in December, giving up, and putting all their votes on the last thing they played. It's a better system.

...in theory. This is the first year we're trying it, so I dunno how well it works.

Also, hey, this is a good time to remind everyone to do some misao voting! Don't forget those games you played in the first half of the year, guys! Remember, you can always change your votes later!

NO! You can vote ALL YEAR. Meaning a necessary release date for that year is no longer in place.

So, let's see if your logic or my logic is correct in this simulation I'm about to run. A good game vs. a phenomenal game that gets released later on that year

guy likes game--->guy votes game of the year (January)
another guy likes the same game (February)
another guy likes the same game (March)
another guy likes the same game (April)
another guy likes the same game (May)
another guy likes the same game (June)
another guy likes the same game (July)
another guy likes the same game (August)
another guy likes the same game (September)
another guy likes the same game (October)
game 2 comes out
guy likes other game2 better (October) and changes his vote
another guy likes the game2 (October)
another guy likes game1 (November)
guy likes game 2 better (November) and changes his vote
another guy likes game1 (November)

game 1 gets 9 votes
game 2 gets 4 votes

but because more people had a chance to play the other game because it was submitted with less time to vote on it, game 2 lost, regardless of being better.

Your logic does apply to the people whom changed their votes, but it would only work if more than half of all people changed their votes to game 2. However setting up conditions for that is going to be hard. You'd have to make someone search for game 2 more often then game 1. Given less time, that would be harder.

If you only get to vote after some sorta completion date field, then every game gets fair consideration and an equal amount of time to vote for each.

The Love Plus thing has nothing to do with what I said.

I also cannot think of a single good FF or FE love story, and a game having a love triangle does not mean it is good at what it does.

This is either because you are not thinking or you haven't played enough.

Heard of the infamous Cloud, Tifa, Aries triangle? They've made movies on it.

FE protagonistxdragon girl?

Stop being so pessimistic and rude.

There's always Jade Empire.

Isn't that an mmo?

Misaos

NONONO!

To allow users to vote all year will make it so that games made early on have an advantage over games made later on. It will discourage the production of games shortly before Misaos happen!

It's a subject that's played with pretty heavily in one of my games (Vacant Sky). etc....
And for God's sake, enough falling in love at first sight with mysterious women destined to save the world.

I will play that game, and yes, you are absolutely right, but if you find a girl the main character loves and she cannot join the party and give you dialogue 'cause she isn't supposed to save the world PM me. Thank you for taking this forum seriously, you were really informative.

I'm sure it's possible, but it's hard enough making one love interest seem plausible.

Agreed.

I don't think it really matters.

I honestly cannot think of a single game that has done a proper romance story, RM* or otherwise.

You're forgetting Love plus, a guy married his digital wife. Google it for the video. Fire emblem and final fantasy ones are nice. Oh, MnM Dark messiah had a love triangle.

I haven't tried it in this case specifically, but regular multiplication of dialogue paths really can suck up developer time and effort - it's something to be a little careful of, though not automatically against.

AGREED. So stressful just thinking of dialogue trees to begin with.

I just finished xenogears recently and I gotta say, it was a really boring love scene, seriously there just sitting on chairs and there is a huge wall of text of how they loved each other in the past and shit., put me to sleep considering how awesome the first disc was.

Spoiler alert >:(

I guess "mario" wants BOTH Princess Peach and Princess Daisy, huh?!

Hell yeah.

Don't forget about Pauline from the DK Arcade game. That small fat guy is a damn sex machine.

Don't call me fat.

Thanks for all the responses.

Has anybody even undertaken this kind of challenge?

I've played a few, but the creators usually quit partway. Is it the challenge of adapting dialogue with too much love interests so great? Do they quit because it embarrasses them?

Or are people simply content with just 0-1 romanceable characters?

What are your opinions?

Font of rpg maker

I'm not sure if it's just my laptop or something, but many words in the default font are unreadable for my laptop when I play games such as Dhux Scar or Alter AILA games. how would I change the font?
