NESFREAK64'S PROFILE

Hi, my name is Steve. I've been lurking here for quite a while. I've tried my hand at RPG making before, starting on the Playstation, and ending last with RPG Maker 2k3. Who knows, maybe I'll try again sometime?

Super Doki Doki World

Great work so far, and I'll be honest, a bit more difficult then Mario vs The Moon Base, at least compared with the first twelve levels. It reminds me that I have a lot of work to do on my own Mario game!

I've also got to say, it's interesting seeing enemies that aren't in SMBX to begin with, such as the chucks in stage one, and the boss of 1-6. The levels are nice and varied too!

When you fight Birdo in the first world though, grabbing the crystal may make you die, without any penalty, but I thought you should know. There's also a section of level (can't remember which offhand) where you leave a underwater part of a level and emerge from a pipe in a pool with no water effect.

I'll admit though, doing water in non underwater sections of levels in SMBX can be tedious.

Anyways, awesome work so far, can't wait to play more!

Well...I was just going by what you said in the PM about the story related stuff.

Boss related stuff, some story related stuff, etc. I didn't know you said you changed your mind on changing the ending, or I missed it somewhere, I don't know. I'll shoot you a PM if that's not the case, no biggie either way.

Anyways, planning on reviewing your version of The Hole. Wonderprince left your changelog in the manual, and it sounds like you did a lot of work on it.

Hmmm...

I'm going to wait for the big update.

In the meantime, I'm going to be playing your version of The Hole.

Heartache 101 ~Sour into Sweet~

Well, I've got to be honest, I've never enjoyed VN's, nor dating sims (unless you count Thousand Arms which was more of an RPG), but this was really sweet and fun to play.

Now I didn't run into any bugs (at all, actually), and it actually felt nearly complete. The only thing I really noticed was that story content during school days thinned out as my stats grew, but hey, it's incomplete.

The one thing I'd complain about (and this would be difficult to change) is that it's hard to make other characters not like you more when you've already started with one. Granted, that's probably how I played, but yeah.

I'll check out customization in time...As for the actual gameplay, all I could suggest is maybe adding mini games, if possible. I'd also suggest more ways to spend money (though that second cell update was pretty hefty). One minor problem (hey it's a game! Not real life) was that you could build up your relationship with a character by cell phone and talking alone and then be able to kiss them on the first date.

Writing...well, I was impressed. I actually started out not liking the characters very much (not even the player), but they grew on me. For the game I played, I'd say that Riho seemed like the most developed character, and Keika seemed the least. I'll admit I concentrated on Riho the most, since she seemed to dislike the player character the most in the beginning.

Anyways, I'll keep playing! Great work, and extremely impressive on RM XP!

Endeavor: Grand Legacy

I'll give this a shot, and put it on my list of things to review.

Looks great!

Hero's Sword

I'll give it a shot, the original Dragon Warrior on the NES was the first RPG I played to completion!

Wish me luck!

Matsumori Days Review

No problem, I tried to be honest. Though I will say I reconsidered the score a number of times, since I did enjoy a lot of the game for the most part. The ending was quite a downer though...

Anyways! PM, I'll be glad to later on today.

Super Doki Doki World

I'm definitely looking forward to this too, especially with the pedigree of developers working on it! Looks awesome so far!

A: That's understandable, it's definitely fun to write a character that's completely different from everyone else. And hmm...I shouldn't have said pretentious. I do feel like she goes out of her way to look smarter then everyone else, but if that's the way you hear her, it makes sense, especially since she is smarter then everybody else.

B: All in character, I know. Don't mind my whining, lol.

C: To be honest, I don't mind the unbalanced-ness. IMHO, it makes it very smooth and easy to play. Maybe a bit too easy...but like you said, you're a writer, and you're telling a story as much as making a game here. As for the status effects, yeah, you're right. A lot of RM games seem to have a high frequency on status effects, though.

D: It's simple, yeah, but it works very well. It's one of the things that makes the game a lot less painful then it could have been with random battles.

Anyways, yeah! Review when I'm done with it.
