NESFREAK64'S PROFILE

Hi, my name is Steve. I've been lurking here for quite a while. I've tried my hand at RPG making before, starting on the Playstation, and ending last with RPG Maker 2k3. Who knows, maybe I'll try again sometime?

Matsumori Days

So...I've played a couple hours into it, and I will review as I said on a comment to your last blog post (did you see that?).

So...Keeping in mind that I'm not really picky, just consider me a normal game player, not someone who knows RPG Maker inside and out.

A. I really like the dialogue. Each character has their own matter of speaking, and your skill as a writer really stands out. On the same token, I find Mitsuya a bit pretentious and irritating, but I gather that's her character.

B: I'm really not a big fan of Japanese names, or for that matter, Japanese words thrown into English conversations randomly. With that said, I really how smooth the dialogue flows. Given time, I'll probably even remember the character's names better!

C: The battles are really oddly balanced. It's hard to describe, but like...
1. Characters level REALLY quickly
2. At the beginning of the three areas I've been to so far, the enemies would tear me apart, but then be almost too easy after a couple rounds.
3. Alongside the quick leveling, making money also takes very little effort. It makes the game very easy to play though...
4. The status effects had a tendency to be very annoying after a while, but I think that's more RPG Maker's doing then your's.

D: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for not making the battles random, and for that matter, easy to avoid. It makes it MUCH easier to grind, and a lot less stressful to play through.

Anyways, those are my thoughts for the time being. I AM hoping that the game will open up a bit more, but I'll have to wait and see as I go on. But I will say that it plays, and feels quite a bit better then what you're saying. Hell, I'd put it ahead of most of the GBA/DS RPGs I've played.

Mario vs. The Moon Base Review

You're welcome. And yeah, I've never met a person who didn't like the moon theme, lol.

I probably shouldn't have made it so kiss ass-esque, but it was an awesome piece of work!

Miaka's Great Adventure Review

author=Deacon Batista
First of all, yes, the titular character, Miaka is a fan character of Dragon Ball Z.
I found it way more ridiculous that it also was a RTP character. ^_^

Good point, haha. I had actually forgotten completely about the DBZ tie-in until a ways into the game when she mentions something about Kakkarot.

OH YEAH SHES SORTA RELATED TO HIM SORTA DURR

Stream of consciousness: I am the completeness!

Well, I'll be glad to play through this, and review. Provided it's not too bad, of course, but from the sounds of things, I doubt it. I'm not too picky on plain/clashing/ugly backgrounds, or whatever.

I'm a writer ahead of virtually anything else, too. I've had quite a few projects I've started, but never finished...So at least you've got a finished game!

No need to be so negative!

Also, I'd like to read your manual!

Edit: Scratch that, I read your manual...Didn't realize it came with the game. Stupid me.

Hi! I've been here for a while, but just signed up, sooo...

I now feel bad because you donated some hard earned cash and I have done nothing...

...Thanks a lot, STEVE.

Just kiddin'! It's nice to know that you care about this place, and I'm glad you joined us! And please give RM another shot, again. I want to see what you can do after all this time off. Welcome to the show. THE FREAK SHOW! :D

Have fun!

That's the plan! Aside from some recent drama-y looking stuff, this place seems pretty chill too, something that seems lacking these days on the net.

As for making games, I am considering doing something short and sweet, instead of trying to pull off baby's first huge epic like I did in the past. Perhaps I'll give Super Mario X dev a shot too.

Your abandoned game ideas?

Edit: Hit confirm without meaning to!

You know what's kind of cool about these topics? Ideas you may think of lame, now, can still sound pretty cool to other people. I mean, wow, some of these ideas sound better then a lot of commercial games these days.

Anyways, here's some of mine:

Dragon Warrior Monster's Revenge

Took place after Dragon Warrior Monsters 2, basically all of the demon lords turned against their master, and Tara, or Cobi, had to quest to take the world back from the monsters. I started it on RPG Maker PSone....And it never really got off the ground.

Quest for Light

Yeah, that was a honestly serious title. Basically it was supposed to be a story with two kingdoms, one of light, one of dark. The Light Kingdom was heavily religous, and the Dark one was far more liberal. It was supposed to be one of these with no real set of who's good and who's bad...The names sucked though. I started it in RM2k3, restarted it in VX years later, and never went too far with it.

I've got others, but those were the two I did lots of real work for.

Hi! I've been here for a while, but just signed up, sooo...

So I just wanted to say hi. My name is Steve, and I've been lurking this site for quite a long time now, and since I've been getting, and playing games like crazy from here, I figured I should join up...and maybe review some stuff!

I also donated...I seriously wouldn't want to see this site go down :(, apparently it almost did one time! That, and I find this one to probably be the best portal for indie games! :)

Anyways, thank you for having me! I've done some developing on some half done RPG Maker games in the past, maybe I'll give it a shot again.

Throne's Ascension

I just wanted to say that I'm playing through your game now, and it will be one of the ones I review, later on, when I at least finish one of the stories.

I like how it's turning out so far, along with the interesting touches you've added in...Dialogues a little stiff, but that's alright. I'm playing Sara's right now.
