I like to smell people :).
I have an absurd fashion of littering my game creations with unnecessary light-maps and overlays.
I am fond of RPGs and first-person shooters, and have an astounding joy for horror games.

Release Something! Day VI - Discussion Thread
[RSD] Iris of Emillion
Iris of Emillion (Working title).
I thought I may as well make a topic for this.
Game Type: Explorer/Story Experience.
Playtime: Approximately 25-30 minutes.
File Size: About 20MB.
Download Link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?gtzeznnyzvw
(Correct Version).
Description:
Follow the events of a mysterious woman who refers to herself as 'Iris of Emillion', through the dark town of Fai Lenora and what lies beyond.
Screenshots:

Notes:
This is an old game, so don't take it as my current standards as well as this being my first attempts of capturing an atmosphere.
Also, please be wary that the dialogue is a little off, or may not make sense (I haven't had time to proof-read it).
If you find any errors, don't hesitate to bring them up and I will attempt to fix them.
Most of this is unfinished as I don't have plans to continue this, but I hope you can enjoy it all the same!

Edit: I have just uploaded the correct version of the game now.
Also, anyone who has already downloaded the previous version, could you please open the game up in the editor and create a hero party position in the map titled: "Developer's Note" (it should be near the end of the map list).
Sorry for the trouble!

EDIT: Since I don't know what is going on with the acceptance on RMN so I am using a temporary link until then.
Enjoy!

Yeah. As long as you release it on the day it counts. ^.^
I suppose I'll have something to release.

Experience Gained
I've never used RPG MAKER VX before, but I'd assume you could do something like this with scripting?
If not, you could always go the old-fashioned way and use switches and variables!
Sorry if this isn't much help, but I've never used RPG MAKER VX before.
Also, have you used any previous engines before? You say you're 'new at this whole thing', but do you mean at the RPG-Making scene, or just RPG MAKER VX?

I wish blogs had a polling feature
The text speed you currently have is fine. It gives more of an 'effect'. At least, that is my two cents.
