Must play horror games in here?

LoL, Star Skipping I don't care I want him to play my game! Regardless of whether it is claimed as one of the best or not.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about Ao Oni, I knew there was one missing to add to the list. Also if you want true Horror, Taut is good too.

How soon do you have to reveal the main antagonist?

A great thing the best games do is let the villain be someone close or dear to the protagonist such as his or her relative as in ff9. The case of a rival /fellow student in ff8. It's good when the villain is very close to the protagonist as it makes the struggle more real and the player want to beat them ever more. You relate to the protagonist as if you are them playing them from their point of view. Being betrayed by Sephiroth in FF7 made you want to kick his ass even more especially after having got used to him as a fellow character whom you had striven to become like.

Examples of great ideas which have been done well would be:
-A once fellow Comrade, Colleague, Student etc
-A relative, father or sibling gone bad.
-A Lover who joined an opposing ideological side.
-An adopted parent or fellow orphan mate.
-A Close Friend you grew up with but turned evil.
-The Master of the Protagonist who taught him how to fight.

How soon do you have to reveal the main antagonist?

The main villain could be introduced anytime jeeez. It just depends on how the story is set to play. I haven't really introduced my main villain yet into one of my games Combat Specialists which is largely focused on missions. Each mission unravels the whole plot slowly where you meet a range of foes, some you may have to meet again. Anyways there will be a main villain but he hasn't been introduced to the narrative quite yet. I think at some point I'll create it that the organisation you work for is actually the real threat to the world not the fake socially constructed cult Mavis. You discover those in charge working behind the scenes have some sort of agenda and are using false flag attacks to create conflict and blind everyone from the truth. You also discover that some of Mavis are actually the good guys. However, the main villain works for that Agenda and eventually kills all his allies who to have the same Agenda who was previously the best Combat Specialist and responsible for ending the Demi War, prior to the narrative timeline.

Cosplay Crisis

Been playing for an hour and I still can't figure out where the hell I got to go to do the first mission. Wandering through Residential in night and nothing. This game does lack a sense of direction. Must have spoke to so many NPC's again and again repeatedly thinking of where supposed to head. Also mapping doesn't really give an intended sense of this leads here more like no you can't go there??? Well where can you go, kind of frustrating...

Dookie, fantastic. The best futuristic mapping I have seen this entire year. I like your style and technique.

Combat Specialists

Yeah I know right, thanks guys for posting and staying interested. I was really hoping to receive feedback from the community to know what they liked, disliked and were looking forward to on future releases. I have been thinking about carrying on some more work on this. But I don't really know what people want out of it. If they liked the way it was done or if they think it needs complete restructuring. It's true I have noticed whenever I put a project on haitus like just for a short while waiting for feedback to see what the community want in a game, they never respond. I guess it just means I can take my time and get involved in developing all sorts of projects...

How did you get started in RM ?

I used to write comics till I was about 15 and stopped getting into RPG Maker 2003 and obviously later afterwards XP. I also wrote short horror stories prior to the addiction. I've always had a passion for creativity and expressing it through visual means. I think this is what got me into RPG Maker in the first place because before I used to create my own animations as well which weren't that great. I think RPG Maker allowed me to combine all my creative skills into expressions through game development. I've been making games, small games, large games, side projects, test games, demo releases and have only ever completed one game since. It's an addiction and generally a large hobby of mine in my free time and when a flash of inspiration comes into mind it gets me working again.

I think games like Final Fantasy, Resident Evil and yes even Pokemon were examples of games I thought were creative enough for me to want to make a game due to their atmospherics, stories and the way they visually explained what was happening within a fictional world. Rather than writing a story, RPG Maker to me is more fun and also involves playing and testing it. You get to engage the role, feel and mood of the character you fictionally created for your imaginary world due to the graphics you create, the music and the way you construct your scenes and game-play elements.
