It's all too often asked "lol if there's a god who loves us why's he let bad things happen."

What about, say, young children diagnosed with terminal cancer?

I actually recently wrote a paper that discusses both of those questions, I can post it here if nobody minds.

I've read it a few times. I've learned some interesting things (like a theory on Hell that I enjoyed), but at other times I see things like "Does God make earthquakes to punish people?" and that's when I shake my head (and my faith in humanity suffers).

I think you'd be surprised what the Watchtower actually says about stuff like "Does God make earthquakes to punish people?", because basically the answer is no, he doesn't. Those articles usually quote from the Bible at Ecclesiastes 7:11,12 which says "Time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all. For man does not know his time".

So while the question may seem like it's going off into some crazy tangent, the articles themselves are usually an effort to use the Bible to debunk some myths about God. And while our views on God are diametrically opposed, the Watchtower makes it best effort to show how the Bible and scientific facts can coexist.

Are Jehovahs the ones that hand out The Tower magazine?

The wording is a little off, but basically, yeah.

@Mateui

Wow! I definitely thought I would be the only one here, haha.

Faith, religion, and you

Honestly, this is why religious topics are never good on the internet. Unless you have thick skin, there is a good chance someone is going to say something offensive to you.

That being said, I have no problem with people who preach about their beliefs, as long as they show respect to the people they are preaching to. I think that is something that can be universally agreed upon.

Faith, religion, and you

I am a Jehovah's Witness. There are tons of misconceptions about my religion, but I don't feel like this is the medium to get to deep into them, because it will almost certainly lead to an argument/flaming not because of wrong motives, just because, well, this is the internet.

But anyway, I completely believe in the authenticity of my religion. I have studied other religions extensively and I love reading science articles. While many people feel that science proves religion wrong, I think they work hand in hand together, and that science actually helps prove the existence of a Creator.
