have you ever played Four Swords Adventures on the Gamecube? it had a similar thing, and it was pretty awesome slash terrible whenever it happened.
as for the sprites, for me it isn't the style that clashes so much as the resolution. most of these things seem like they were scaled unevenly, so you have pixels of inconsistent sizes and sprites that look stretched. I haven't worked in Unity so I'm not sure how difficult it is to keep sprite-based graphics looking clean, but I'd say it's something to keep an eye on at least.

yeah, no, the rest of my post after the "let's laugh together!" was for the thread in general. not you. looks like Ratty beat me to it, but whatever, one more drop in the bucket.
I... guess I like the way the guy did the sprites? the big-head overworld characters are kind of stylish. the awkward thick lines and forced 3/4-view on anything hand-drawn kind of ruin them for me, though.

@bulmabriefs144, make a topic about stairs or drop the subject completely. this isn't getting dragged back out every time someone new stumbles on that wreck.
@LockeZ, the top of... pretty much everything cylindrical looks a little too narrow for the perspective. If you look at the bottom-center in the first shot, where the trash can and the water heater are about side by side, you should see what I mean.
I'm not sure how much at liberty you are to change that, though, since a lot of these tiles look like they were rendered in 3D or converted from photographs. oh, well.
(no multi-page derail about cylinder perspective, please.)

reading this title I was, like, 99% sure that a Simulator game had found its way here somehow.
I love jam games! I'll give this a play a bit later. what made you keep this to yourself for two years, though?

Are you always like this?
if what you said was a joke, then so was what I said. let's laugh together!
and yeah, I don't think this is him advertising for himself or a friend or anything. cool your heels on that, alright?
(but really, if this is just going to be a constant back-and-forth about whether or not minecraft sucks, instead of stuff about this fangame, we might as well clip it here. there's no happy ending there.)

You're still fixating on tone rather than answering any of the considerable questions people have posed here. I don't think I've done anything to deserve this kind of explosion from you, and I'm not willing to let your claim that I'm "bullshitting" debunk the very real questions in this thread. I would expect a little more from someone asking for community support.
For the record, I don't have a problem with you or what you're doing. I do have questions, though, as do a few others. Please, take them one at a time. We're listening.
e: Or, they're listening. I've had enough people shouting at me for "asking in bad faith" and so on over the past little while that I think it's probably best if I keep out of this topic from now on. It's a shame that I can't involve myself in this kind of thing without people overreacting, because I was interested in seeing where this went.
I encourage you to consider what I said in my absence, particularly as pertains to your financial goal and your budget -- conservative estimates place a comprehensive graphical overhaul anywhere from three to six times the amount you're asking for, and that's even without taking programming into account.
If you've found people who will overhaul your game's graphics and engine for under five thousand dollars total, congratulations! Treasure them. And maybe pay them considerably more if you beat your goal by a good amount, because I can't imagine doing that much work for so little cash.
Good luck!

What are you thinking about right now?
RM Scene: You either retire a hero or you lurk long enough to see yourself become the villain
it's something I've learned that everyone is going to frame themselves as the underdog protagonist of their own little story. so call yourself whatever pleases ya.

I can't help being a slave to a game that's so addictive. Don't pick on those of us who are slaves to enjoyable gameplay.
it's weird to me just how often people will take statements about things unrelated to them and then indict themselves just so they have the right to be offended.
I've played minecraft too! it's kind of alright. if this is just going to be a topic about minecraft, though, can we lock this? shit's tiresome.

stop.
there have been so many "last word"s on the subject that I don't think people are ever going to get it. it's useless to try, because then they feel like they have something to prove.
the windowskin, tiles, and palette were all made by DE! I agree they're lovely, but I can hardly take credit for that.
