Release Something Weekend
People here seem so terrified of bad first impressions... I don't really get it. I've made nothing but bad impressions ever since joining the RM community, and I still guarantee my game is something people will find interesting. If I can't represent it in a satisfactory way during this weekend, I'll just use what I've prepared so far for a foundation and keep making updates from there.
This event includes submissions from people who've been working at their project for months, and also from people who only started a week or two ago. The range of preparedness is such that I don't think anything you do now could possibly "ruin" you. This isn't a competition -- there's some makerscore prizes, but who really cares about makerscore? I already have hosting. (In fact, I'd prefer it if the number under my name was replaced by "awk" -- for aesthetics, you know? But that isn't going to happen, I guess.)

Super RMN World
A slight misunderstanding caused my game to loose stars!
his low score seems to be more based in the poor gameplay than his confusion about the title. I don't think the title even affected the score!
you'll live. numerical reviews are idiot nonsense and most people don't even use most of the scale. very few numerical scores are really what the game deserves.
so what can be done about it? you can take it in stride and wait for other people to weigh in. there isn't a system on this forum for quietly erasing reviews that are inconvenient to you.

Release Something Weekend
Releasing a poorly-functioning game is hardly a mark of shame when it's clearly a work in progress. This entire event is done with the understanding that most of the people involved in it will be showing off unfinished work -- and personally? I love to see the guts of how something works, and watch it develop from there.
Like, really now. I know things might not necessarily be in the shape they're in if you had had more time. I trust you! But the whole point of this event is to take a weekend and show off what everyone involved in is working at, and how far they've come at that specific point in time.
I think the team mechanic might be confusing people into thinking this is one of those contests where you start working on something as soon as you sign up and have to have it finished for the deadline. This is not the case! (Thankfully, as exams have made me into a skeleton and I am way behind on my big and amazing plans.)

[Poll] Judging whether to download a game? What do you look for?
e: why there be this other here -- this thing! why this, when there is me! there is me, me, me, there is only me.

Warning, personal opinion:
I'm one of those people that completely and utterly hate (retail) games that have trailers that never show a single piece of actual UI or gameplay. I'm not here to watch a movie, I'm trying to decide if I want to play a game, and most of that will be through gameplay/UI.
I haven't seen many of these (although I haven't really been looking) but that sounds pretty unbearable when it comes to amateur 2D games. dialogue boxes and static sprites set to an excited soundtrack... eugh.
e: also, if you're making a trailer, please don't give things like "A COMPELLING STORY" and "REALISTIC CHARACTERS" their own title cards. that's something that's really up for the player to decide, and it makes you look like you can't think of anything else to put in. these are fine things to mention in a game's overview, but listing them as if they're features is a bit tacky.
Difficulty: Challenge vs Frustration
the thing about Majora's Mask and its time limit is that it isn't really a time limit so much as a solid schedule of events that just happens to go for three days. the game gives you enough control over its flow (and has enough going on during its three-day schedule) that it never felt like a limitation to me.
this does mean that there isn't a huge feeling of urgency after you've figured the game out, but the first couple of cycles are really nicely tense.
