The fact that gay marriage is even a legislative issue sort of makes me vomit. I understand that "marriage" in this context is as much a legal status as a social one, but it always seemed to me to be completely out of the scope of the government's influence, not something left for them to decide or enforce.
STORY TIME!!!!
Back in my hometown there was a guy named Yoshi. Yoshi is gay. Yoshi and his man-lover applied for a marriage license in Massachusetts years before same-sex marriage was legalized, and got it because while submitting the couple to the "rigorous" inspections given to marriage license applicants, they thought Yoshi was a girl (it's a pretty unisex name). Yoshi legally married another man without governmental consent and the universe didn't implode. Imagine that.

You really believe that one vote makes a difference? I have a bridge I'd like to sell. Interested?
One vote alone is insignificant, that's why I vote for an established candidate that best represents my beliefs, instead of doing something like writing in MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE, even though that would be awesome.
Let's approach this problem mathematically, if 5 votes are 166% as effective as 3 (5/3 = 1.66) than one vote compared to zero (1/0)... hmm... for the sake of simplicity let's just round that up to infinity%. What was your point again? Oh yeah, justifying your apathy and laziness. Doing great so far.
edit: my point was that I don't really give a shit if you vote or not in case you were interested, but do please tell me I'm gullible for trying to be actively involved in a system I feel I have a lot at stake in (because I do).

As long as you're content having not even the slightest influence on proceedings that can and do affect the quality of your daily life, then not voting isn't too big of an issue. It just makes our votes count for more :p
also this site is a breeding ground for terrible analogies but man, that Ft. Hood bit takes the cake.

Should I try Ecstacy?
(i usually reach the point where i realize i need to eat mushrooms every day for the rest of my life OR join a monastery or something, and then a few hours later i feel the logic slowly rebuilding itself in my head)
That's pretty interesting, actually. While I'm tripping on mushrooms everything seems to be explainable in a marvelous way, but I've never felt the need to do it every day. Maybe twice a month if I could find them that often (Tampa sucks). Psychedelic experiences are always highly dependent on the individual, though.

He prob figured out how to make the iPad while on LSD1) assemble existing hardware in a cumbersome package that nobody wants
2) offset the cost of marketing campaign by inflating the price
3) ignore its market failure and quickly bury yourself in coming up with the next retarded device while the same departments in Apple that have been carrying the company since the beginning compensate for your latest bomb in consumer hardware
And I did that without LSD, only a bowl of weed and two beers.
Seriously I think you might be disappointed with the reality of an LSD trip. I would rather have fungus any day of the week.
Also if you're asking for advice on hard drugs on the internet then you are probably the type of genius who would really enjoy them, so just forget everything that was said here and do them all (protip: needles a problem? you can snort heroin too! mix with three parts cocaine for what is popularly known back home as a "speedball" aka how dealers get morons hooked on coke faster aka a real party!).
I'm personally rooting for you, and have even already started setting aside part of my tax money specifically for your eventual rehabilitation. don't let the derision of a bunch of RMN nerds prevent you from becoming a dysfunctional wreck of a charity case if that's your goal! REACH FOR THE STARS!!!

I thought he bombed/derailed the debates and was a bit surprised when he got elected (of course, McCain's Senate voting history always made me a little nervous, and I am rather conservative, fiscally at least) . Now that he's in office I'm quite relieved that he's not doing terribly. I don't agree with a good number of his decisions, but I can't think of a President in my lifetime where this was the case :p
I don't love the dude, but I have to admit that most of the Obama hate I hear is pure fiction; people love to accuse Democrats of having all sorts of retarded agendas that, while they may have tried to implement in the past, the ones smart enough to any shot at the presidency have all realized that those issues hurt them every time they're brought into play (i.e. gun control). It's amazing how strong of a political opinion a person can form while actively avoiding the factual information typically used to form such opinions on.
But the link provided isn't even about politics, it's just a weak attempt to jab at the President that reflects more on the stupidity and desperation of the author than on Obama. I remember during G-Dubs' two terms every right-leaning Bush supporter was chanting "you might not agree with him but we have to support him because he's TEH PREZ a house devided etc herp derp". Now that the shoe's on the other party's foot it looks like they were just kidding!

this sounds like a blast, go for it!
post=123815well yeah, it doesn't help that he picked a particularly horrible substance to ask for input on
I get the feeling that instead of this becoming a mature, reasonable discussion on the applications, implications, and personal viewpoints of drugs in our society, this topic will spiral into hellfire after a few posts, and from there, straight to the City Dump.
