So basically I want a Xbox 360.
IMO, if you're going for a system and you keep a capable gaming PC; the 360 is pretty much meaningless.
There have been a few games that I'm really glad I have the console for but it almost always ends up collecting dust in favor of my PC. I can't remember the last time I used it, it mainly gets played by houseguests now :p
I wouldn't recommend getting one refurbished due to the chance of it being an older RRoD model and running out of warranty.You can check the serial for this can't you?
Also I have an old "RRoD" series model and haven't had any of the problems that are supposed to be plaguing it, my understanding is it's not as prevalent as it seems.

I always saw it as more of a "hey how do we show people we're their equals? BY CONSCIOUSLY ALIENATING OURSELVES!" but I agree, it's pretty dumb.
