Hey man, just wanted to say you're doing a really good job with these. This is hyping me up for the DS version of the game.

Keep on going. This is really cool stuff. I've always been a fan of the Let's Play things people put out.

Good commentary on edward's usefulness. I never really did find a good function for him other than potion slave for the people who actually do stuff.
Not over emphasizing Edward's spoony-ness would have left me rather disappointed.

However, it's not technically a mistranslation. Spoony would mean foolishly sentimental in this sense, however, since it's an obscure word it just sounds like engrish.

With the shitload of additions they added (and the new party switch system), I hear good old Eddie might see some newfound usefulness, but we'll see.

Awesome read. I hope you update soon.
Sorry about the wait, before, guys. Work is rough, but I have the next few days off, so all is well.

Our adventure took us to the Antlion Cave to get the Sand Ruby. After a rough fight with the Antlion, we did indeed manage to nab it. Now, we have to head back to Kaipo to cure Rosa.

Good thing we have our Hovercraft, Kaipo is a short ride away. Given that most of Damcyan is desert and mountain, the citizens of Damcyan must use Hovercrafts to easy get from city to city.

We head back to the house where Rosa is, and we're prompted to use an item. Naturally, we use the Sand Ruby.

Awesome, she recovers just fine.

Why would she see the need to follow me here?

Well, that's just fucked up. Is it the work of my apparent replacement, Golbez?

So this guy must have been in the plans for a long time, because Cecil retrieved the Water Crystal from Mysidia even before anyone heard of Golbez.

Rosa lines up the countries on Baron's list. Mysidia and Damcyan have already been crossed off, and Fabul and Troia, a nation we have yet to hear of, are next.

Damn! However, that shouldn't be a problem, right?

Rydia remarks that she doesn't know how to cast Fire, something an observant player may have already noticed in battles with her.

So, Rydia's dyslexic? Good to know. After everyone scratched their heads on that one, Rosa demands to join us on the way to Fabul. At first, Cecil wasn't having it, but after Rosa pretty much insists...

...she gets her way anyway.

Not what you think.

Edward doing what he does best. Absolutely nothing.

And that too, I guess.

...and not even a few seconds into it, someone literally leaps at Edward from the bushes.

Normally this wouldn't even be worth commenting on, but this is Edward here. The odds...uh...aren't lookin' too good. I try to use Sing, since well, that's the only thing Edward is competent at in and out of battle, so...

DAMN IT EDWARD

And of course this does next to nothing. I might as well be throwing cotton balls at him.

Just then, Anna, or rather her spirit pretty much comes out of nowhere. After telling me what I already knew, Edward resumes singing to the thing for measly lower double digit damage. It's quite depressing, actually.

Please do. Do something, Eddie. You're not working with a lot.

After doing a lot of nothing, it eventually adds up and the thing dies.

Of course, Anna delivers the speech which amounts to "Stop being a pussy and fight before you get killed and screw over your country and its people", and vanishes to the spirit world.

Edward actually takes the advice to heart. Unfortunately this doesn't translate to him being stronger in battle or anything. Sigh.

The next morning, we're ready to roll. Onwards to Mt. Hobs! Before we go, however, let's check out Rosa's stats.

At first glance it seems to be standard mage material, high magical stats, low physical stats. However, she's a bit more interesting than that, as I'll explain later. It's also kinda funny that she more or matches Edward in many physical stats, and she has more HP than him by quite a bit. Hilarious.

Another point of interest with Rosa is how she uses arrows as consumable items when she attacks. It sounds expensive and not really worth it given her status as the mage and the healer, but with the right combo of weapons she can be a very competent attacker.

Now, we can head off to Mt. Hobs, but unfortunately I have to cut the update in half right now! I have something to take care of, but when I get back I'm going to finish this update up. I already have the screenshots saved and uploaded, so it'll be pretty quick.

Besides, with 40+ images in this installment, this is an update in itself! Be grateful, ya pigs.

Moving along, we mosey right on to Mount Hobs, which was pretty close to the Antlion Cave, so it wasn't hard to find.

Wow, cut short already. However...

DON'T DO THIS TO US NOW RYDIA WE HAVE SHIT TO TAKE CARE OF

Yeah. Remember, Cecil?

Fortunately, Rydia is level headed enough to leave her baggage at the door and get shit done. HEY EDWARD I'M TALKIN' TO YOU

About time, eh? Now it's time to explore the rest of Mt.Hobs, Fabul is just on the other side. Oh, right, while we're here, let's take Rosa for a spin to see what she can do.

We have White Magic, Pray, and Aim. I pretty much assume you already know the deal with White Magic, so let's move on to Pray.

Pray in itself acts like a weak Cure spell to all for free. It's not terribly useful, but you get what you pay for. However even then, sometimes this happens.

*insert "Where is you God now" joke here*

Next up is Aim. On her own, Rosa's accuracy...isn't too great. When used with Aim, however, it shoots up to nearly 100%. While this is obviously very useful, I don't see why it's here. Why not just make her accuracy high in the first place instead of programming the Aim command? Perhaps the charge time is longer? I guess that makes sense.

So anyway. The mountain itself is pretty short and the monsters aren't difficult at all. Most of them fall to status effects like Toad, Poison, and Confusion, making Edward actually useful here.

Remember when I said that Rosa was very powerful given the right combination of elemental weaknesses? Check out the damage she did to this monster with Holy Arrows.

Well, that was quick. However, there seems to be trouble in paradise.

We don't even get to do anything before he brings on the ass kicking.

Who is this guy? One of those kicks and a swift punch to the jaw, and those Goblins fell dead at his feet.

All of them but one. That doesn't look like an ordinary Bomb, either.

This doesn't look too bad, but I know better than to judge by appearances. Let's try out this new dude's stuff. We already know what Kick does (it's the move he used last battle). But what about Gird?

Gird is basically a souped up Defense. Yang goes into a defensive position, but it doesn't wear off in battle, meaning he can do other things while basically acting as if his Defense was up. Basically it raises Defense.

What Power does is it saves his Strength to hit for twice the power later in the turn. Why not attack twice, you say? Well, due to how the ATB works, different options in battle have their own charge times (for example, casting Flare takes a hell of a longer time than say, Fire), so this is more time economical. Anyway, on to the battle.

The thing isn't doing too much damage to me, and spells like Slow even work on it. What's the dilly-o, here? Nothing special, until after a few turns the thing does this...

Oh, shit. I freak out (not really) and up the ante in attacking it. Due to it's Slow status, it barely lands a hit on me. However...

FANTASTIC. Not only did the explosion take out a ton of HP, but in its wake several smaller Bombs come to finish the fight.

Thankfully, they're not very difficult at all, a few turns and they're toast.

Introducing Yang. He's the stereotypical "solemn, strong monk" through and through, that doesn't take away from how cool he is. Strong, sturdy, and tough, he gets it done. While he doesn't have too much development as a character, he does have contribution to the story, and he's a strong fighter too.

Baron's on a roll, huh? It's amazing even by video game stands how fast they're taking over all of these countries. Even Shinra of FF7 and the Empire of FF6 took ten to twenty years of wars and battles to consolidate their power. Baron is doing it in weeks, if not days.

Yang is a pretty reasonable man, so it doesn't take much to get him to help us, and escort us to Fabul.

His stats speak for themselves. While worthless in magic obviously, his power, defense, and speed are all impressive, with good HP to boot. Built like a Mack truck, he's meant for power, plain and simple.
Finishing up this segment of the game, keep the comments rolling, this is getting tough!
Hahaha, liked the Peanuts reference. Also, you're right about Baron conquering at breakneck speeds, I never noticed that as a kid. Either Baron has the universe's most elite soldiers, or their opposition has the military competence of a Fat Chocobo.

Gotta say, the GBA version does look pretty good. I guess it's partially won me over, but I still like the originals charm.
Haha, I didn't get the Charlie Brown joke at first. I just thought it was something random. Either way, it was funny. :D
Hahhaha, I'm glad you guys are enjoying it. I'm busy with Release Something, so sorry for the slow updates.

Keep up the good work.
Keep up the good work. The story is just about to get interesting.
Bumping this, just to let you guys know I didn't forget about it. Release Something has been eating my time lately.
UPDATE ON THE SITUATION

I have not forgotten about this or abandoned it. My laptop broke and I am currently waiting until tomorrow to get a new comp. I will resume, and finish this as planned.
Hurry Feldschlacht! I'm getting withdrawal symptoms from your witty remarks! I was starting to wonder if you were giving up.

On our last episode, we rescued (sorta) a monk named Yang from some monsters. Now, he'll be traveling with us.

The trip to Fabul Castle is very short, and we get there by going southeast of Mt. Hobs in no time at all. I'm having Yang lead the party, well, because it JUST SEEMS RIGHT OKAY?

Let me start off by saying Fabul Castle is pretty huge; their capital is contained inside the castle itself, so it has all of the functions of a full scale city inside ot it.

They even have an inventory full of demonic helmets, demon included!

There are two main towers in the castle, and east one, and a west one. Obviously as you already noticed, I've chosen to explore the west one first.

And we come across a woman that's apparently Yang's mother.

Oh. And we come across a woman that apparently has Yang on a leash and quite whipped. We move on the other tower, where the pub is located.

It even has strippers! Aww yeah! You'd think having stripper work in a castle full of stringent monks would be counter productive, but I GUESS NOT.

The stripper turns out to be a kung fu-ing man. What kind of fucked up place is this!? Moving on.

Also Cecil sleeps in the Kings bed in full armor and doesn't feel bad about it at all. Dark Knight indeed.

We pimp our way to the throne room, and due to poor graphic alignment, we can't see the King's sprite because of the message boxes. Don't worry, he looks like any other King dude. Beard, crown, robe. You know the deal.

While I did mention how fast Baron is wrecking everyone's shit, it's hilarious how slow the other countries are to even react to what's going on. Has the King not yet heard about Damcyan being wiped off the face of the earth? Don't any of you have any sort of intelligence agencies or spies?

Which is a good suspicion for the King to have, considering that if I was an assassin from Baron, it would take Cecil about 3 seconds to kill the King and to cause the political downfall of Fabul.

Edward somewhat proves his worth here as a political ambassador and manages to stop Cecil from getting possibly arrested.

TRANSLATION: You women get in the kitchen and make the sandwiches battle ready while the men handle the business.

This part of the game is pretty cool, except we don't have Rydia and Rosa helping us out.

D-D-D-DANCE PARTY

After we beat them in a dance off (they got served)drove the enemies back, the Red Wings roll up to properly fuck our shit up.

Well. Yeah.

Of course Cecil has no intentions of going out like a punk bitch. Thankfully, these enemies are pretty easy. A single Dark Sword followed by a kick is enough to dispatch of everything they throw at us.

Of course as far as they're concerned it's pretty irrelevant. We fall back upstairs (again), and as the last bastion of defense, we can't afford to let the throne room fall.

OH EDWARD

Yeah so I guess that means we need to kinda not keep running away this time that would be great.

BTW if you're wondering what happened that monk dude was really this guy. Well, maybe we can hold up in the Crystal Room, if we hurry.

GODDAMIT EDWARD YOU USELESS SACK OF SHIT
This pretty much forces us...

...here. Luckily, Kain pops out of nowhere! Fuck yeah.

FUCK NO

There's nothing to even really say here. Kain did over 1000 damage with his jump attack, and there was no way I could have even gotten more than two turns. He wrecked Cecil's shit through and through.

Kain is about to finish Cecil off, but his boner for Rosa (quite literally, that's the core of their whole dynamic) stops him before he shish kabobs Cecil.

It's...GOLBEZ. Finally in the flesh, it's the magic wielding antagonist in the massive armor that sets the tone for villainy for most of the game.

And is it just me, or does Golbez sound really Mexican? Martinez, Ramirez...Golbez. Nobody seems to ever agree with me there.

Anyway, Golbez electrocutes all of us pretty effortlessly and commands Kain to get to work.

Rosa tries to appeal to Kain's boner sense of goodness, but Golbez turns that around pretty quickly.

Kain also takes the Crystal. After taking a moment to pick our balls off the floor, we drag our asses out of the Crystal Room to see what the rest of the Castle is doing.

Also Demon Shield in secret passage in throne room.

Apparently Yang's wife is Aunt Jemima. She probably also has a phat ass.

You guys don't even have ONE airship? Not one!? Nobody has ever thought of having spies to steal some technology from Baron or something? No wonder we lost! Damn!

Don't worry, the King is in bed, but he's alright. Apparently he was quite the ass kicking monk back in the day, so he took some troops down before he called it a day.

Yeah, apparently.

WHY HAS NOBODY EVER THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE

Basically, the main plan of action is to sneak into Baron by sea using one of Fabul's ships.

...what's gotten into him". He's thinking with his dick, that's what's gotten into him.

Perhaps. Perhaps.

So, to rescue Rosa and to secure some air power, we prepare for our infiltration into Baron by ship with the help of Yang. What will happen next? Will we have to fight, or kill Kain? What's the deal with Golbez?

Until next update! Sorry for the delay, guys! I'm back on track now.
This thread is still running? Amazing! Clearly you haven't fucked it up yet.

Also, why is it blacker???
This update is not as popular as I hoped. DO YOU GUYS NOT CARE ANYMORE?

Very humorous feedback. Keep it goin!

Regarding the Fabul defensive battle: I always did wonder why they didn't leave Edward's pansy ass back in lieu of Rydia or even Rosa, both far superior characters in every way. I'm sure Eddie would make great sammiches. Oh well. Yang kicks enough ass to get the job done by himself.
