Anyway, I'm continuing my mapping of Arian Wild. I took a break for a few days, but I'm back into it now. Karsuman has a break soon, so hopefully we'll be able to get some art up within the next few weeks. =D
Planning a drug addiction system. Tell me what you think:

The whole cycle only starts when you take the drug for the first time.
You get a PUMPED condition (stats increase) that ends at the end of any battle.

Common event determines the number of battles (var1).
Common event compares var1 to var2 (initially zero). If var1 is at least 3 higher, character gets another condition, ABSTINENCE, which reduces his stats (and var2 set equal var1).

If you take the drug again, you cure ABSTINENCE and get PUMPED again.

So, you basically have to take the drug every 3 battles or you'll get ABSTINENCE.

Starting to get ready for The Quest of Dude III: The Omega Quest, while drawing Templar Knight stuff, inking homework and now I'm deeply toying with making a game about a Troll who walks around internet style trolling people.

Is there a choice not to use the drug, or recover from it once you do so? Or is it pretty much 'you are playing a character who is addicted to drugs'? Also, it will seem wierd if you don't have a fairly constant supply of battles - or maybe the character only needs the drugs when under stress?


Anyways, I'm trying to learn how to sprite for my theoretical RPG platforming nethack-inspired game.
Believe it or not, I'm actually working on maps.

I've got to spruce up some of the interiors of a castle, then I can start doing some of the scenes I have solid in my head that take place there. Just have to think of how we get to those scenes, since they're part of the intro, but not after the player gets control. Have to think of what that stuff is (i.e., all the info/scenes before player control).

Working on Biggs and Wedge's battle stats for the Aeroplane battle. Also I have to sprite them and I'll do that as well...eventually.

I did the same thing for a math class -- 8th grade algebra actually. Submitted a RM game to teach the other students about polynomials and factoring. Still wish I had a copy of it; it was pretty cool.

I just played through MMZ again to refresh my memory, and tomorrow I think I'll begin working on it again. I hope to start the Greenhouse dungeon by next week.

Been playing with algorithm's in VX and made a Destiny of an Emperor style system where more HP = Higher Damage Multiplier (Equal to the number of digits -1) Makes for some extremely high damage when your HP is over 100,000 and the attack power is also round there. (Yay for limit editing)
Mapping out the final areas of my quick playable demo. I have a bunch of eventing left to do but at least I managed to make a fairly nice looking map.

edit: finished doing that, Now I'll need to event the thing, I believe I'll do that this afternoon.
Right now I am working on a game called "Demo of Tommy, the Text Adventure of the Movie of the Rock Opera." I am finishing up the intro text as I type this!

Edit: Aaand it's done. Now I need to decide if I should continue on to the next game or get some sleep.

Balancing a ridiculous ridiculous ridiculous ridiculous battle. Ways in which it is ridiculous:

1) 15 PCs.
2) Represents 100% of the combat in the game it is in.
3) Balancing. Against all of my preconceptions I am having trouble balancing the fight so that the 15 PCs have a chance. While they are fighting nine enemies- five goons, two fairly badass mortals, and a ridiculously uber Lich- it is really only the Lich that is making balancing difficult. No matter how much I nerf it, (I have given it several degrees of nerfs now) it still seems capable of fucking up all fifteen PCs on its own.
