After receiving critique from a beta tester, I've been reworking some of my levels in Neo Retro Super Mario Bros. I guess this isn't the first time a project that I intended to have a really short development period turns into something bigger, but in this case it's for the best.

Working on a highway chase scene for one of my games in VX Ace. I just need to finish touching up the black part with a darkish gradient color and create a suitable background that I can use and that should be about it. I already finished creating the vehicles and all the hazards for it.
The main stages have the road a lot more magnified than this one. This type of stage is just used as an overhead view to switch up the perspective a bit during some of the scenes.
Working on a month long project for a group event.
Progress so far.
I just wish I could get away from the default battle system's group turns setup and go with something more individual, but I'll make do.
No it's not based on the concept of SMT at all. Nope.

i'm writing an article yo
It's about chaos!! Sorta, it's about using randomness as a game design tool to make games more fun and more interesting.
It's a topic I've wanted to write about for a while. My opinions on chance have changed a lot throughout the years and people make topics about it all the time - the game design board has a "Randomness" and a "Not Randomness" topic on the front page right now... Anyway Kentona mentioned someone should write an article so I decided to just buckle down and do it. I finished it up last night, hopefully it turned out okay and gets approved :)
That's pretty cool. I'm sure you'll do a great job.
Anyways, I'm about halfway done
Just got to finish up a few story missions then I'm moving on to

the battle with Vector and Rick Ross. For those that don't know, they kidnapped Kiana after you set out for W-Pool Beach and fought the Oasis Worm.

Finished some code to read the chipset tiles from the map files (including most of those pesky autotiles), such that it can directly be used by the mode 7 plugin without having to make separate pictures for it.
Still need to read event graphics of the map to add them as scaled sprites, some funky bad rotation for those sprites (since only 4 directions), and do something with the background, and it might be ready for a release, which will be expanded on later.
Gone pretty busy again though, so will take some time until I get around to taking care of those points.
Sprites, sprites, sprites.
I'm almost sad to give that bandit a wolf-skin helmet since, well, wolves are my favourite animal!

Looks absolutely incredible so far. What would happen if you added a parallaxing background? Would it show up in that black area, or is it considered part of the map? How's the general performance?
Parallaxing is hard to add when working drawing the actual map. This is because the actual map is still beneath that image you see there, I'm basically just redrawing the scene on top of the old one.
Because of that, and that I don't know the memory address containing either the panorama image, or the filename of the panorama I cannot add it directly.
I have a few plans for it. One is to make a basic gradient (linear and quadratic), from two colours specified by the user, as well as the option of specifying some image which will be loaded as the background separately from any panorama.
As of right now, the performance seem to still run at around 60 fps on my computer, but there's still a bunch to add, so will still need to see if it stays that way after adding those (primarily the sprites, since they will require sorting related to distance and stuff).

Still nothing! I just don't have the motivation to work on anything right now. And I don't know how to get it. I want to get more done on my game, but it's just bleeeeh. Mapping and all that. I refuse to just give it up though, or change makers! I will finish this goddamn game, one way or another! Even if it takes another 5 years. ;__;
Trying to make my house for MAMA but the story keep changing, which makes things a bit harder. I suppose i can put up the basic rooms and figure out how they reflect the inhabitants later...

weeee school
mockup in photoshop, but it'll imported into unity as is because using planes instead of trying to construct complicated guis is awesome.
(i know how to make guis)
Trying to revise the world map in Neo Lescia, make it more geographically sensible in terms of climate and such, figure out the oceans, and add some new continents that I had been messing around with. The main issue is actually drawing it up, since I have no sense of how to fit the damn thing on a piece of paper or the page of a sketchbook, and I can't even remotely match the shapes of the already existing continents to the previous version of the map.
This is made even more annoying by the fact that I've been stuck at a roadblock with the story and more minute artistic stuff (character/area design) for ages now. It's times like these that I just want to have a classroom sized whiteboard to fuck around with.

For those that're wondering, alot of the details about my game are spoilered because the IB series is set to one straight story as a whole despite its nature as a zany/vulgar comedy and alot of crazy and spoileriffic stuff goes on so I want to make sure the element of surprise is retained while interest peaks.

very important to the story at this point. Terry is the sole opposing force against Futoria finishing it's rebuilding process, and after he's gone, there's only a couple really major things to worry about.

Organizing all the resources I have collected into one folder so that I can find them for later use. It would be quite painful to go through different folders trying to get different things. (My music resources for one music pack are over here, but the other ones are way over there. Let's not even get started on how badly I organized my tile sets.)
