IMPORTANT NOTE: This game uses heavily a customized RGSS system and is still in development, so any current release may contain game-crashing bugs.

Features

100% Custom Interface: Players command the party using a targetting dial that identifies important features of a room and the ways to interact with them.

Randomly-generated Game World - The layout of areas and the locations of key items are determined randomly at the beginning of each new game.

Customizable Characters: Spend experience points to improve your character using an intuitive, user-directed training interface.

Original Graphics: Original characters, creatures, items and splash art.

A Chilling Sci-fi Horror Setting - A setting and storyline influenced by sources as diverse as System Shock 2, Freelancer, Dead Space, John Carpenter's The Thing, and Dante's Inferno.

Story

According to one theory, Earth's moon was formed by collision with another planetoid early in our solar system's history. This theoretical planetoid is known as Theia, the mother of Selene (the moon) in early Hellene mythology.

The theory states that Theia would have been completely consumed in the collision, its mass integrated with Earth's.

Why, then, in the outer reaches of the Oort cloud, where astronomers expect to find only comets and isolated bodies of ice, has a planet been found whose composition exactly compliments planet Theia of the Giant Impact theory? Almost a light-year away from the Sun, it hangs on by a mere slip of a gravitational tether, and would certainly have been long lost to the system were its orbit not almost immeasurably slow.

Wherever it came from, it was the last beacon of hope for White Horse Enterprises, a sluggish corporation whose dewy-eyed business ethics made it uncompetitive in the corrupt, overpopulated world of 2072. They established a mining facility on Planet Theia as a showcase for their progressive, philanthropic business practices. In the words of White Horse's CEO: "This venture will go forward, and it will establish a precedent that only an act of God can supersede."

The venture seemed doomed for bankruptcy until a survey drone uncovered what appeared to be an alien artifact, deep under the planet's surface. Desperately needing to capitalize on the discovery, the admins have planned an investor's gala in the P. Lowell Executive Chalet, a small luxury resort with a stunning view of the mining installation, where the artifact will be unveiled to the public.

... And now, for some reason, you've just woken up on the floor of your sleep quarters. You have no recollection of the last week, and your co-workers have turned into monsters. Your only guidance is a droning automated announcement system and the clues your colleagues left behind before losing their minds.

Welcome to Planet Theia. It's always dark out.

My god we're going back for this one

Two days ago I finally started using Rogaine, even though I'm about 15 years too late for it to make a difference!

Well we all know how it goes, I still want to shake the usual farts out of the bedsheets and say that sOmEdAy ThIs PrOjEcT wIlL bE dOnE i PrOmIsE but it looks to be something that I'll have to be toying with on and off for years and maybe finish it when I'm 50. Because I was visited by that terrible spectre of Another Idea For A Game That Seems Like It Will Be Less Work And More Likely To Pay Off Than The Current Idea (AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI). I've actually been working on the AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI for the last year. I don't want to be an idiot who strings along projects for years and then never finishes anything because of yet another AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI, with the old tune of i'Ll GeT bAcK tO tHiS pRoJeCt OnCe ThE nEw OtHeR iDeA iS dOnE. Every time I do this I lose more and more confidence in myself. But the AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI can be very seductive.

The latest AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI is a furry-themed building management sim made in Game Maker, and the building that you're managing is a public bathroom. You place facilities like toilets and sinks and make money by selling different types of septic effluent. It leans heavily on the vulgar subject matter, because furries like that sort of thing. But it's not really an RPG so I don't want to make a project page here. Does anyone know of another website where I might make a project page for that sort of game?

OH MY GOD WHA TA LOT OF WORK YOU'VE FOUND FOR ME TO DO THERE ARRGHH
Well I should thank you for these notes. :3

BTW to end the current turn in battle without having to use more shots, press S.

I think the thing with shotguns might be that every single shotgun enemy is in fact carrying the SAME shotgun object, or perhaps different shotguns but with the SAME shells object in them. It has to do with RGSS being object-oriented. I'll look into that.

Sadly the game is too far gone to consider mouse support at this point. :( I would have to rebuild the interface from the ground up, and I've all ready done that once.

As for the problem with "Give" commands, the list of targets is always restricted to other characters, but sometimes the initial object that the dial points at is the last thing you used in the room ... Once you move away from it though it doesn't let you move back of course.

ARGGH SO MUCH WORK but thank you for the notes. :)

- Hehe, Sorry ._.

- I would, but I don't have a way of knowing if the enemy is dead until they drop dead :> or do I and I'm just missing it?

It's not documented anywhere, but once the red number above them is shown with bold digits, they've received mortal damage.

PS I've looked into the shotgun thing but sadly I can't find anything wrong. :( Can you send me your save file of the game where this happened?

Oh, yeah that could have done with some explaining in-game :P

& Yeah sure, I'll PM you.
Holy YES @ new download.

Sadly I'm 300 miles away from home (and yeah, still checking in with RMN) :<

Aww. :( Do you remember what the error message said?
Script'Z-Zap_Presets (etc)' line810: NameError occurred.
undefined local variable or method 'parameters' for Zap_Presets:Module.

But this error definitely pops up after running from the first turret encountered.

Ok, fixed! Download this file http://rpgmaker.net/users/Gibmaker/locker/Game.rgssad and replace the file of the same name in your game directory. Then you should be able to load a save and continue from that point.
Just downloaded and unpacked the 0.4.1.2

Attempted to run and got the following:

Script 'Game_Temp' line 0: Errno::EACCES occurred.

Permission denied - C:\Windows\Fonts\AdventureSubtitles.tff

Copy-pasting the file from the game folder to my native fonts folder seems to have resolved the problem. Maybe include a readme with the game informing prospective users that they may need to do this?
Okay, brace for incoming feedback. Doing a comment-as-I-go playthrough.

-character creation smooth, crisp, nice appropriate soundtrack. Feels deadspacey, but in a nice way.

-reset button did not work after assigning one point to each intrinsic attribute. Returned to menu screen, tried to duplicate bug, bug unduplicatable.

-character portraits are expressive and excellent

-reminds me a little of Martian Gothic, in some ways. Way overlooked game, that.

-Help topic, multiple personnel "now that you control multiplecharacters, there are a few moreelements to gameplay"

-info on 'banana' "a suggestively shaped fruit." lol

-Timed events are brilliantly conceived and executed. A real-time counter would be awful for the pacing of a game like this.

-I like that Graaskamp has something new to say most times you use the comm panel during the train ride.

-random idea: make the inner shape of the hourglass a double-helix?

-excellent sound design choice with the depressurization.

-difficulty is about on par with system shock, where it gives you a lot of options but lets you get in over your head quite quickly.

-dialog and scripting is spot on. The 'carnivals' speech early on is quite brilliant, and is probably a reference to something. The dark figure's monologue is also great.

All in all, from what I've played so far, this is shaping up to be a spectacular game. I'll deliver more feedback as I progress.
I'd be interested to know if you plan on there being any different sorts of enemy in the game aside from the
bandagey-faced people/creatures
.
Got a new one for ya.

Why, yes! Of course the
bandagey-faced people/creatures
still have a few tricks up their sleeves. But then there will also be
robots, insects, ghosts, and even regular human enemies. And also horrible monstrosities.

Sorry your play got fudged. :C Might I ask, did this happen during the fight against the "elite" enemy?
I think it was just regular bandaged dudes. Two rooms down from leaving the arboreum. One of them had a gun.

No worries about the copy bugging out on me, though. This is playtesting. Unanticipated crashes are the norm.

I wonder, can you send me your last save file before the crashtacular?
Sure. I can try. Where do I send it to?

Also, I'm getting another interesting bug.

I have two handguns on my main character. He also carries my standard ammo. Derichard carries my AP rounds. One of the guns is loaded with AP. The other is loaded with standard ammo. When I need to reload the AP gun, I give it to Derichard. He loads it. Then hands it back. When he does this, all the remaining rounds in the pistol I have loaded with regular ammo turn to AP rounds. I have no idea why.
Another bug.

While trying to fix the radiation-spewing conduit in the arcade, I had my main character stand in the room outside and Derichard stand inside to work. When the turn ended, both characters took radiation damage, although only one was standing in the hazard area.

We also continued to take radiation damage after the rad sign went away, we left the area, and roamed around the facility for a bit. I healed my main character with a hypo (to 5 away from max hp) and he stopped taking radiation damage, but Derichard had apparently swallowed an isotope or something, and ten turns later, despite healing, and despite not being in a hot zone, he was still taking radiation damage.

edit: admittedly, this may have been a status effect, but I couldn't find it displayed anywhere.

God, I haven't used anything but "move all" when playing this. I'm such a terrible player.
Minor bug at the electrified bulkhead to the admin office. I get as far as Derichard saying "we need to get to the Ops Substation" and then I get the error "test1." I click okay. "test2." I click okay again. The game goes back to normal.
