IMPORTANT NOTE: This game uses heavily a customized RGSS system and is still in development, so any current release may contain game-crashing bugs.

Features

100% Custom Interface: Players command the party using a targetting dial that identifies important features of a room and the ways to interact with them.

Randomly-generated Game World - The layout of areas and the locations of key items are determined randomly at the beginning of each new game.

Customizable Characters: Spend experience points to improve your character using an intuitive, user-directed training interface.

Original Graphics: Original characters, creatures, items and splash art.

A Chilling Sci-fi Horror Setting - A setting and storyline influenced by sources as diverse as System Shock 2, Freelancer, Dead Space, John Carpenter's The Thing, and Dante's Inferno.

Story

According to one theory, Earth's moon was formed by collision with another planetoid early in our solar system's history. This theoretical planetoid is known as Theia, the mother of Selene (the moon) in early Hellene mythology.

The theory states that Theia would have been completely consumed in the collision, its mass integrated with Earth's.

Why, then, in the outer reaches of the Oort cloud, where astronomers expect to find only comets and isolated bodies of ice, has a planet been found whose composition exactly compliments planet Theia of the Giant Impact theory? Almost a light-year away from the Sun, it hangs on by a mere slip of a gravitational tether, and would certainly have been long lost to the system were its orbit not almost immeasurably slow.

Wherever it came from, it was the last beacon of hope for White Horse Enterprises, a sluggish corporation whose dewy-eyed business ethics made it uncompetitive in the corrupt, overpopulated world of 2072. They established a mining facility on Planet Theia as a showcase for their progressive, philanthropic business practices. In the words of White Horse's CEO: "This venture will go forward, and it will establish a precedent that only an act of God can supersede."

The venture seemed doomed for bankruptcy until a survey drone uncovered what appeared to be an alien artifact, deep under the planet's surface. Desperately needing to capitalize on the discovery, the admins have planned an investor's gala in the P. Lowell Executive Chalet, a small luxury resort with a stunning view of the mining installation, where the artifact will be unveiled to the public.

... And now, for some reason, you've just woken up on the floor of your sleep quarters. You have no recollection of the last week, and your co-workers have turned into monsters. Your only guidance is a droning automated announcement system and the clues your colleagues left behind before losing their minds.

Welcome to Planet Theia. It's always dark out.

My god we're going back for this one

Two days ago I finally started using Rogaine, even though I'm about 15 years too late for it to make a difference!

Well we all know how it goes, I still want to shake the usual farts out of the bedsheets and say that sOmEdAy ThIs PrOjEcT wIlL bE dOnE i PrOmIsE but it looks to be something that I'll have to be toying with on and off for years and maybe finish it when I'm 50. Because I was visited by that terrible spectre of Another Idea For A Game That Seems Like It Will Be Less Work And More Likely To Pay Off Than The Current Idea (AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI). I've actually been working on the AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI for the last year. I don't want to be an idiot who strings along projects for years and then never finishes anything because of yet another AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI, with the old tune of i'Ll GeT bAcK tO tHiS pRoJeCt OnCe ThE nEw OtHeR iDeA iS dOnE. Every time I do this I lose more and more confidence in myself. But the AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI can be very seductive.

The latest AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI is a furry-themed building management sim made in Game Maker, and the building that you're managing is a public bathroom. You place facilities like toilets and sinks and make money by selling different types of septic effluent. It leans heavily on the vulgar subject matter, because furries like that sort of thing. But it's not really an RPG so I don't want to make a project page here. Does anyone know of another website where I might make a project page for that sort of game?

Finished Cave of Shadows. There were no bugs.

None.

I even went looking for them.

What have you done with the game I once knew?!

i'm sorry i know you really liked the game crashers but most people didn't
THANKS FOR FEEDBAC yes that laser thing appears to be a bug. :)

So, if this is version 1.0, does that mean the game is complete?

I struggled bitterly with whether it was appropriate, but since I'll be able to release forthcoming chapters in a matter akin to "episodic" releases then I thought I had earned a version 1.0. Also it's been three years since I created this project page.
You should mark it complete, then, so that we can nominate misaos.

OH, I SEE.
well it's not complete in that case, so, er, i still want my v1.0
I...I may have found a bug.

How do you stop playing?

edit: actually, found a real bug. Medkits, when used in hot combat, do not restore health. They just cancel out damage done to the healed character that turn. I typically heal for 15, but used it on a character who was 26/35 with 6 damage waiting to land on him, and the only thing that happened was that he didn't take 6 damage.

secondary edit: I found the note that references the testers!

tertiary edit: found a bug. The upgrade on the assault rifle just says 'non-combat', and then when you select it, it behaves as if it's just a regular action you're doing. For example, try to upgrade the assault rifle while facing a crate, you search the crate.
Got a new one for you.

BUG: split the party for the 'issue an order from flight control' segment of act 3. Cambridge was chilling at flight control, Derichard at the security station, and my MC was on his way to the CEO's office. He had just finished a combat, was at 17/25 MP, and used a MP-restoring hypo on himself (there were three in his inventory.) I got a fatal crash and the following message:

NoMethodError occurred while running script.

undefined method 'lessen_state' for #<Game_Element:0x8151d48>

The only thing I can think of that might have been out of the usual was that I hadn't switched characters after the combat, so there was still roughly 2 xp waiting to land on my other teammates.

The medkit bug is new to me, but the thing with the assault rifle is because I actually haven't built the event for upgrading the assault rifle yet. :X And the "lessen state" bug must be because of the sedative hypo. (This did happan instantly when you used the hypo right?)
I've done a little more testing. The 'medkit bug' seems to be more global. I've had it go off with healing hypos, too, where it basically just cancels damage taken during the round, regardless of how much damage that is.

The lessen state bug was definitely the sedative hypo bug. I use lots of them, though, and that was the first situation in which a crash was triggered.

Also, I just got to the fight in the hanger bay. And by got to, I mean "didn't save before", miraculously survived, and then got stomped to death while waiting for my buddies to come out of the recovery tube because I passed 40 turns with no sign of them on screen, and went exploring with a badly wounded Derichard.

Derichard is, by the way, an unstoppable beast made of bullets and laughter. Even on his last legs, he still tanked a group of men with shotguns, lasting two rounds with no armor.

edit: For a moment there, I had written Ned Kelly'd instead of tanked, as an allusion to the australian folk hero...and then I checked urban dictionary, just to make sure I wasn't accidentally saying something terrible. Turns out I was!

The more you know!
Best. Credits. Music. Ever.

Also, minor bug during the hangar fight.

Combat ended without Hector ever showing (the spawns were, for some reason, out of synch. Instead of filling in the vacant slot in each group of three, one group showed up to overlap and create a group of five, and then I had a couple of rounds with just a single enemy, and THEN I had Timmy, god of maintenance drones, who took 90+ damage to put down.) Cambridge did her little speech about having had to kill her boss. And then her boss appeared and opened fire.

During my previous run on the hanger, Hector appeared in the last round of combat, like he was supposed to. I don't think I did anything particularly differently this time around, other than not having team-mates die on me.
aaaa started playing this finally and its really good. will say slightly more constructive things later but for now I'll say I like it. only bad thing is its not save-anywhere so I cant play as often as I like :'(

The other night I spend a good hour or so playing with a pretty compelling game idea in my head, in terms of the systems it would have and how it would feel and play and stuff... After a good time thinking about it.. I realized it was this game.

For you yes!

Not for me :<

welcome to my world....like if you keep your game in development hell long enough, the chance of games with the same ideas as yours being released in the meantime goes up, and then you lose even more desire to release yours....its a vicious cycle...
I was playing the Gears of War Board-game (yeah.. I know) with friends the other day (actually for two days straight ._.) and a lot of the things and ways it worked reminded me of this. Just thought I'd let you know this :>

Also I'm just loitering around for ep.4.

Well the gameplay in SD was first intended to be used for a table-top game. W

Sorry it takes a long time for me to do things.
I would play the hell out of that tabletop game.

Actually, wait.

Crap. I may be writing that tabletop game.

I mean, it's not sci-fi horror, and my principle influence was actually Fire Emblem, but there's a lot of Set Discrepancy-ish-ness to it now that I'm taking a closer look at it...
Will this work without me installing rpg maker XP?
