-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey, guys. Guess what? I've just uploaded the latest version of Seraphic Blue! This version features the intro, 1st 12 episodes of the game and the beginning of episode 13 (which is the start of Chapter 2). I've left the Prologue Demo in tact for archiving purposes (though I will eventually delete all demo versions when the full version is out). While waiting for the new download, here's some things and tips while in game:

1) There are items scattered within towns and cities and may be hidden from view, but they all appear as one common icon (you'll know when you get in-game ;))
2) Strategies are crucial in this game. While strategies are not as important early in the game than later in the game, they are still important as not all battles are mere hack and slash = win.
3) There is a little bit of disturbing language in-game, especially late in this demo...maybe a little vulgar, and somewhat gruesome. So just be aware of this if you're one who's easily disturbed by that. I do try to minimize when possible, but in cases where I can't, I...can't.

As for my current progress? Still stuck at episode 14. I gotta say, episode 14 is one of the longest episodes of the game, so it'll take a while. I'm possibly 3/5 through episode 14 already though :)

So that's that. Have fun playing and do give comments on the storyline and gameplay so far in the main page! :)

The music for the battle with
Virginie
seems to be missing. Looking at the code, I believe the filename is CI_digital_storm.

Edit: Well, finished the demo. The last two episodes on Episode Recap weren't translated, but you probably already know that.

This is really an excellent game and I greatly appreciate your work on this translation! The amount of work it must take to translate such a long and story-driven game as this is incredible.

The storyline so far is a total enigma; I really can't wait until the next demo where, hopefully, some questions will start being answered, as there's so much mysterious stuff going on right now. Even the final confrontation didn't really answer anything but just raised more questions. It's certainly admirable that someone managed to complete a game with such a complex storyline and battle system - I'm all too used to seeing games with intriguing plotlines like this unfinished, so it's really refreshing to know that the answers to my questions are actually out there and the entire story is complete.

As for the battle system, I really like the CBS itself...but the length and frequent encounter rates did make the dungeons, and even treks across the world map, very tedious at points. The boss battles were all very well-designed and challenging, though. I just really wish that a touch encounter system could have been used to make dungeon exploration less of a chore; random battles really do need to die. I love the idea of the setting up elemental circles; I found myself on the final boss often getting Lake to use a weak water spell just so Vene could access Heal Rain. The Attack Wait gauge is really neat too, as is the ability to pass different amounts of it to manipulate the turn order. Overall I'm really loving the game and wish you the best of luck with the completion of this project!

Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks a lot! :) I will certainly finish this project ^^

There's another untranslated message when you try to visit the Skyscraper before you're supposed to.

Thanks again. I'll be sure to hire you as a tester next time :)

Again, a small bug: if you talk to the innkeeper in the marine city at night after the talk with Vene, the text is not translated.

Noted with thanks :). Another honest mistake :(

Smallest bug ever, but when you select to use a Resurrect Sphere and you don't have one, there's a Japanese character that appears before the 'You don't have the required item' message.

Ah, right. That character is actually just a symbol which somehow cannot be detected in the English version. I've just fixed it with the alternative symbol :)

Another small bug: when you try to cross the bridge near the second town before you're supposed to, the message you get isn't translated.

Noted and fixed in the future version. Thanks for the bug reports. Much appreciated :)

EDIT: On a side note, I should probably send the game for public beta testing first before releasing next time.

Minor bug: When you select 'Break' on the menu, the game says it can't find the file Ep45_Explain01a.

Also, as soon as you gain access to the menu, you seem to have one sword equipped and another available that is better in all statistics...is this intentional? It seems odd that you would start with one sword and instantly change it for another.

Other than that, everything has been working fine (just started Episode 1).

About the other sword, I think that was intentional by the author, since this is director's cut (or the much better version). It wasn't found in the original version. But now that you mention it, I may consider removing it. I'll let the author know about it.

As for the 'Break' bug, here are not one, but two missing images that you need...Place them into the 'Picture' folder. Technically, Break is just to take a break, for your info :)

Still a missing file...after the opening, when a load of images suddenly flash in sequence, one of them was missing. Sorry, I didn't get the exact file name, I think it was episode 40-something?

From what I played, the translation was somewhere between Romancing Walker quality and the quality of most SNES RPGs. You can understand what they're trying to say, but the dialogue also sounds pretty unnatural with a lot of strange phrasing. ('Isn't it a great feeling, to kill lives?' is probably the worst example so far) To be honest, though, just being able to understand the game at all is great in itself and I definitely support this project. You should really use RMTool to make sure that all the files you're removing aren't actually necessary though!

Yeah I figured out (hopefully) the final image that's missing. I'll check through thoroughly again in 4 hrs time but this should be the final missing image. Put this one into the "Picture" folder instead. :) Hopefully 3 times will spark the charm and no more curse this time :)

As for the translation, yeah i'll definitely improve on it. I think the intro is probably the weakest since that is the 1st time I've ever started translating. It's also one of the hardest parts of the game to translate imo. I'll come back to the intro someday to polish the translation up :) Thanks for the comments :)

Hopefully I get it right this time. And apologies for having you play the intro again and again! >_<

Still missing an image--Ep23, I think? Could someone else confirm this?
May I know where you get the part about Ep23? As in, at which point does this appear?

Oh well. This happens when I delete certain files in order to prevent viewing spoilers. I'll have to be more careful.
You get it right after the opening quote, after the title appears and disappears. I'd check for the exact number but that would require watching the sequence again; I have to go to bed pretty soon so I can't help too much here, at the moment!

Maybe tomorrow I'll check to make sure, if I have time. Might want to do a check through to make sure there's no more missing files, though.

Okay I figured out the error. This should be the last remaining missing image. It should work fine after that :) Download the image below. I will update the download accordingly as well.

Apologies for the initial missing files guys! I have learn from my mistake and shall not repeat it again :(

EDIT: Blog updated and main download updated once more!

Ah, apologies guys. I will update the download accordingly. In the meantime, for those who have already downloaded the game, download the picture "Ep43_Hill View" and paste it in "Panorama" folder.

Oh wow, I can't believe someone is actually translating this! I've been wanting a translation of this game for years. Now if only someone would get to translating Velsarbor...
