Gensokyo...a land full of long forgotten creatures and magic. Many a day has gone peacefully in this land separated from the outside world, until one day a mystical artifact known as the Pandora's Box arrives and begins to wreck havoc across the land. If not stopped, then all shall be returned to nothingness. Join Reimu and her friends on a quest to defeat the entities of the Pandora's Box and save their beloved land from the forces of chaos!

This game follows a style similarly to the Final Fantasy series, incorporating a vast amount of abilities, monsters, and ideas from the Final Fantasy universe, while still retaining the Touhou nature of the main series. Various aspects of the Final Fantasy series incorporated into the game includes the Blue Magic system, Gil Toss, Scan, Steal, and Chakra in-battle, a Skill System similar to that found in Final Fantasy II, and the characters playing roles similar to various classes in the Final Fantasy series such as the Black Mage and Knight. However, this game also incorporates ideas from various other series, including Legend of Zelda, Valkyrie Profile, and Super Mario RPG. Players can control up to 4 characters at a time in any given battle, but can have access to as many as 30 playable characters, several of which are optional.

Final Update!!

Howdy all! So, it's been a good long while since I last posted, but at long last, I do believe the game is now finished! 99.99% done, at least, there's still a couple things that I haven't been ABLE to do (still looking for a spriter for a character), and there might still be bugs and glitches here and there, but overall, the game is actually done after nearly 12 years in the works!

Main file: https://rpgmaker.net/games/3758/downloads/10309/
Music: https://rpgmaker.net/games/3758/downloads/10310/

As usual, anyone that is willing to testrun the game for bugs and glitches, feedback, etc. would be highly welcomed! But for now, I will consider the game "DONE". Which...in a way, kinda makes me both very happy and very sad...I don't know how to feel overall.

The Item Shop has the skill upgrades, have to talk to the books to do so.
I found a bug and have a suggestion in Eientei and a couple of others:

Bugs:
In the area where there is a circle of NPC's during escaping in Eientei, if you go down on the left side of the screen, the cutscene doesn't trigger. This may also happen on the right side as well but I haven't tried it.

Momiji's thunder slash DOES NOT hit at 95% accuracy. It's more like 75%.

I got a game over after one of your characters took an element and turned against the party. Fortunately it didn't happen a 2nd time.

In Eientei during the 2nd visit, one of the bunny looking guards that is guarding a treasure chest is a never-ending battle. This room is located 2nd from left. The room to the left of this has a guard that gave 3500 exp after defeating. In the same area a few rooms to the right, one of the doors didn't open.

In Remains of Hell (Castle area), I was unable to get to the treasure chest because I couldn't go under an arch (ceiling decoration).

When Reimu is not in your party, in Road of Reconsideration, when you head north, you will see Reimu say something that you need Konachi in your party before you can continue.

When Momiji is hit with a bad status event, you can't see her in battle. The same is true for Yuugi but for any bad status.

Possible bug: After returning to Eientei, the area where the NPC's are in a circle that you didn't defeat where still there.

In Mugenkan, you can by-pass the red-lady battle and go straight to the castle.

Suggestion:
The NPC's that you encounter should only be one instead of four in Eientei. I think four is overkill unless after winning the battle, four will eliminate on the main screen. I do think the escape is poorly designed and needs work in the area where NPC's follow you. You literally could get stuck in a bunch of battles.

Anytime you get to choose party members, it would be nice to see the character's current level & special skills prior to picking them.

I feel that all party members should get at least 10-20% (or the # party members you have) of exp earned, not just the ones that are active. I'll have a better opinion on this once I progress further in the game.

Do you have to have to have party member in your party in order to get a specific scroll to work or can they be inactive and they will still learn a scroll's skill?

Is it intentional that when you fight "wall" in a cave, beat it, leave room and re-enter, you have to beat it again?

I really feel you should add shops on the pathway to Mugenkan. If people don't at least make some attempts to level up Yuuka, I feel that they would be trapped here.

This would require programming but I think you should add a quest log for the main storyline & all of the possible sidequests.

This would require programming but you should add a beastery log.
Are there missing files in the package?
I get an error loading "chipset/town" on starting a new game, and there's no chipsets in the rar file.
These missing chipsets don't seem to be in the RTP either.

To everyone that's notified me of this, this is now resolved. Somehow when I uploaded the latest update, I forgot to include the chipset folder!
Are the "document" files that comes with the download up to date? I believe somethings are wrong like Marisa's master spark having 100% in game and 80(or 85)accuracy on files.

Also, Suwako's hibernate isn't doing anything for me, and I'm having some difficulties on knowing what skills are magic or physical, especially with cirno, but this may be just me being dumb.

One last question, is the synthesis shop working? I can't see any item with the "craft item" description.

And congratulations for the game, last time I had so much fun with a touhou rpg game was playing labyrinth of touhou 2 plus disk.
1) They...should be? I may have forgotten to fully update them, since there's a LOT of information to be had (plus some of her Sparks beyond Master Spark ARE less accuracy than Master Spark itself, so maybe those were the ones you saw??).
2) Hm...Hibernate is SUPPOSED to put a status on herself, so an icon SHOULD be appearing whenever you use it assuming you don't already have too many statuses on her. Try testing it out on Misty Lake enemies or whatever a weak enemy may be, and see if the status icon works. If it doesn't, then...I'll have to doublecheck the coding or something. It's meant to restores HP and MP over time, I remember that much...
3) The only thing in the synthesis shop you have to craft are from Nitori's skills, which you check them and hit Yes if you have enough to craft them. Nitori IIRC has a dummied command that shouldn't be there.
1) Turns out I was on the wrong spark... ops, my bad :p.

2) And hibernate really isn't working for me, I used it sometimes under some condition, even unequipped her thinking something could be giving ser sleep immunity(even though I believe this should bypass immunity like momiji's mad rush), but still nothing. Just remembered I also forgot to tell, is Sakuya supposed to have auto-haste? I know she has the "critical haste" according to files, but she is always with haste in battles for me(no matter the HP).

3) Thanks, I thought this could be a thing but was afraid of selling some items, especially because I thought this could be the way to get the "Legendary" items. At least now I'll have yen to buy scrolls earlier xD
Hm...I may have to look into Hibernate then. As for Sakuya, she's not supposed to have Auto-Haste at all unless she has some kind of equipment that's giving it to her...which you shouldn't have early in the game.

And I'd still be careful with some things that you sell, especially if you need it for Nitori's skills. Her abilities ARE pretty good, I will say, according to what I've seen from others using her.
Hibernate Lv2 is working normally, but it looks like the level 1 really isn't, at least for me :/
Huh. I wonder what's going on with Lv1 then. Maybe that one's incorrectly coded somehow. >_<
Out of curiosity.... how far has people gotten on this game? I found a few game breaking bugs in which Xenomic has been fixing along the way. I just found a game breaking bug that is preventing me to go further in which I believe Xenomic will fix soon in dimensional rift. Did anyone make it past that area???
I would very much like to play this game, it seems interesting. But it is the only rpgmaker game I've encountered that refuses to start regardless of what I do. I have the 2003 rtp installed, all game/music files are there from the download page, and I've run it in every compatibility mode as admin.
What's the error that pops up when you try to start it? Are you running RPG_RT.exe from the Touhou Fantasy folder itself?
I'm running it from the folder itself and no error pops up. It goes directly to a black screen while changing my desktop resolution and then my mouse pointer pops up with the loading circle. and it just sits there not responding until I ctrl+alt+delete and close the program.
Hmm...try this:

1) Make a shortcut to RPG_RT.exe
2) Right-click the shortcut, go to Properties
3) Go to Target in Shortcut, and at the end, put this line in outside of the "":

"NormalPlay" "ShowTitle" "Window"
4) Hit Apply and OK, run the shortcut.

See if that works??
It no longer goes to fullscreen and messes with my resolution, but otherwise everything is the same. It opens in windowed mode completely black and doesn't respond then closes itself. I forgot to mention it temporarily reverts my desktop aero visual effects while it is open.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

If you have recording software open, or anything else that uses your video card, then sometimes it will interfere with DynRPG, because RPG Maker 2003 is old butts.

That said, if this problem happens once, then restarting your computer is probably necessary to get the game to work again.
Tried all that and restarted multiple times and came up with nothing. If it is DynRPG it would have to be something specific to this game that I haven't come across yet, because the numerous other rpgmaker 2003 games haven't presented an issue regardless of my videocard/settings/etc...

I mean, the only thing DynRPG is used for is customizing the battle layout, and changing some damage/status formulas. So, one of the things you just said is wrong.

If you can't get it to work, then you can't get it to work. You don't need to keep posting the same thing over and over. The developer tried to help you and so did I. But this absolutely isn't an appropriate place to ask for tech support. Post in the help forums, or send a private message to the game developer.
I don't see how this isn't an appropriate place to ask for help since this is the post section for this specific game which I'm having a problem and only this game. I've asked for help in others and offered bug advice and never have been told to get lost and go elsewhere, so if there is a rule I'm unaware of please enlighten me. I never intended to bring up DynRPG (Don't know enough about it)you did and I replied that I already tried your advice and reiterated that, in my limited knowledge of this engine and its games, I've never had issues with other games. I don't see how three posts, two of which were direct responses to previous posts, count as posting the same thing over and over. And I never intended to post again until I read your message.
