"The gameplay in Dragon Fantasy II is first-class; it gives you everything you would expect from a traditional roleplaying game but, more than that, it also pulls each element off brilliantly. Professionally, even."

A century has passed since the events of the first Dragon Fantasy. The self-proclaimed lord of demon-kind has been slain, and the world restored back to a state of order. Even the four Great Relics could not completely destroy the power of the Demon Lord however. His power, along with the mighty fortress of Venaitura, was contained within a sphere of light—forever locked away to spare the world further carnage.

But the skies have once again darkened, and a new evil has given rise: Dark Emperor Xyan. Using his terrifying power, Xyan has stolen the Sphere of Light, and with it opened a gateway to the Dark World. With hordes of Demons now under his control, his quest for world-domination has begun.

You are the Hero's descendant. Flowing through you is the blood of the legendary hero who felled the dark lord 100 years ago, and it gives you a power unlike any other. The King of Zebon calls forth you and your allies, and tasks you with defeating the Arch-Fiend Xyan.

Now it is time to embark on the adventure of a lifetime! The fate of the world rests on your shoulders.

Shall you conqueror Xyan?

An Update Appears! Command?

That's right, folks! I've taken on the task of giving this game a small makeover in the form of various touch-ups here and there to improve its quality. What KIND of edits are we talking here? Well...

Updates to various maps, and a COMPLETE REMAKE of the World Map to make it like an actual WORLD! Right now it's just a mess. But that's how I rolled back in the day; I don't think anything was pre-planned, and some aspects (like maps) definitely suffered for it.

Dialogue is being edited, snipped, cut down, and made WAY more comprehensible and bearable. I think I went a little TOO over the top originally.

The message that comes up whenever you search a pot's gotta be changed. It HAS to be. Right now it takes THREE message boxes to find out what you've got if there's an item to be found in a pot/drawer/whatever.

Equipment, enemies, and various other things are getting tweaked, too.

For the most part, DFII's fine just the way it is, but I want to make it even BETTER. It's good, but it could be GREAT! So yeah, that's just a little something to look forward to.

for the final mix it keeps telling me to type in 4 characters i did and then the same thing happens again. pls tell me what to do.
What tells you to type in 4 characters?
Believe it or not, I just registered today because I loved your game series. Btw when I changed the final boss music for DF2, I was surprised to see you used the same grandia II music for DFV.

I guess we have the same time in music.
Oh ho ho! Well that makes me feel real special, that does! Ah ha ha.

So you used the same FB music that I used for Venaitura with DF II? I see! Though I changed it to "Go! Go! Go!" from Lunar: SSSC after I released the actual game, as I thought it fit better.

I rarely get comments any more, so it's nice to get one every now and again!
Ephiam, you and I should form a Retro RPG Club.
Yeah I was quite suprised with the Grandia II final battle theme when I did that switch for Goddess Celes and then I downloaded the new DFV and it had the same thing. Quite a surprise indeed lol.

and I agree with Kentona.
Here are my thoughts on Part 2 to Dragon Fantasy:

I found part 2 to be a lot better in terms of game play, and story, but of course you were able to build upon it since part 1 if one day you were to make part 2 which you did.

I can't really criticize anything about this game, I found this game to be superb in every right and every Dragon Warrior fan would love this game.

As for suggestions:
Dress up the dungeons, give them more life
Custom color sprite some of the important characters(I know it's a Dragon Warrior, but custom colors won't hurt)
I'm glad you thought so. I've been thinking about going back and replaying this game one of these days, because I honestly forget over 80% of what happens in it. Ahaha.

But yeah, I definitely agree that the gameplay is leagues above the first Dragon Fantasy's, but the first one had a simplicity that I also loved the feel of.

Thanks for playing through it and contributing a comment! It's appreciated. =)
Awesome. Now I just need a few more downloads and DF II will have reached the 1000 mark! Woo-hoo!
Can you please tell me how you got the character to walk slower then default? I need it for my game because I'm using 2 frame sprites
@ Dastrem: Why thank you! That's great to hear. Glad you like it. ;)

@ Simpleton: Well Mr.Simple, you just use the "Move Event" command and Decrease/Increase the Hero's Move Speed. It's best to do this before you're actually able to take control of the character if we're moving slower during the entire game (such as here).
I wonder what my next project will be.....bwa ha ha.

I might review it, once i get around to finishing it.
Maybe this is a bit late (MAYBE), but the best team is a Hero, Knight, Mage, and a Priest. Or it is the classic/most used party, rather.
