“I want to return.”

Have you ever made a mistake you regretted so much that you wish it possible to turn back time? That memory will never release you from its agonizing grasp for the rest of your life. But even if the present gave you the privilege to relive the past, would you have the strength to confront it? Or would your sins damn you into oblivion?

In our remake of Castle Oblivion, we've done a complete overhaul: Story, Character Development, Maps, and Gameplay worthy of current RPG players. The Castle welcomes newcomers and old-timers alike. And if you played the original, you’ll definitely want to revisit the Castle again.

Story Synopsis:
Vincent and Azen, two knights stuck in the rain, discovered a strange Castle. Their host was gracious enough to offer permanent refuge by kidnapping Azen with an overwhelming power. Not wanting to be next, Vincent abandoned his friend. After drifting through decades of guilt and wanting to redeem himself, the Castle returned. Vincent will find new friends and foes as he traverses the Castle’s memory-made worlds to rescue Azen, but can everyone overcome the shameful past?

Features:
- A rewritten and more expanded take on the original plot. Filled with tons of BANG!
- Re-balanced battles, designed for an enjoyable challenge, rather than frustration.
- Remade, detailed maps filled with variety. Makes the Castle feel more deep and alive than ever before!
- Stronger development for the different characters in the game.
- Save anywhere!
- Interesting and creative puzzles to solve!
- Rescue other trapped souls from the Castle!
- Find Recovery Crystals, which you can either use to heal or break for stat-increasing items!
- Witness Vincent's hometown, Port Brinks, evolve as the story progress.

Castle Oblivion: Remake is now on Game Jolt!

Yo-yo-yo! I've finally decided to take my next step as a developer to join the somewhat huge indie website called Game Jolt! The first game I have posted is this one (mainly since it's the game I'm most proud of so far). You can check it out right here: Castle Oblivion: Remake - Game Jolt Edition.

I also want to let you guys know that I am indeed working on my 5th game ATM, which should be revealed pretty soon (it's a pretty short game, so it won't take too long for it to release either!). If you're a fan of Adventure games, then make sure to stay tuned!

Thanks for all of the support and kind comments so far! I really feel like I need to do something to celebrate for the amount of downloads the game have received. Keep it real, yo, and I'll see ya soon!

Check out the playthrough I just sent you (it covers the entire main game). You can also slow down the videos in the settings if they're too fast. There's always the option to rewind a video if you miss anything.

All of the videos of the playthrough can be found in the "Media" section on this page.

Best of luck!
Thank you very much for all help. I wonder: it is some special strategy to activated the battle with Golden Butterfly? I see in the video that is round and round and after a couple of round the battle is activated. I round and round much more than I see in the video and nothing happen.

PS. Where you sent me the message? At email or PM? Where to check?
Nah, it's mostly just running around while trying to catch it. It sometimes gets stuck in the corners, making it a lot easier to catch.

I was referring to the video I linked you earlier in the forums. Like I said, all of the videos of that playthrough can be found in the "Media" section. If you can't find it, just click this link: https://rpgmaker.net/games/7548/media/

Hey! In hope the author is still reading this comment section I'm posting here.

Let me tell you first that I greatly enjoy this game, strong world-building, hard, challenging but great combat system and good story so far. The incredible production quality just makes this an overall great game.

But there's one downside, something that's happened to me, consistently, throughout the 11-12 hours I've been playing this game so far:

http://puu.sh/t2HxH/f4842e84f2.png

This error occurs randomly whenever I have to jump across rivers, pits etc, the movement that's being highlighted by the white little dot. It also happened once after beating gilgamesh before you have to fight azen (I think it was right before the 5th staircase).

Like I said, I enjoy the game and will continue playing and beating it, but this error is driving me absolutely CRAZY because in certain areas of the game, it means the game crashes literally every few minutes, causing me to save the game whenever I have to jump across something.

I dont know anything about the Creator's side of RPGMaker, and I havent found a way to resolve this issue. So all I can do right now is to implore you to maybe take a look at what might be causing this.

I got the package including RTP, version 1.1 of the game, Win7 OS if it helps.

Regardless, thank you again for creating this remake, have a good one guys!

First off, thanks a lot for taking your time to comment! I'm very humbled to hear that you've enjoyed the game so much so far.

The issue you're experiencing pops up randomly after you've pressed F12 to restart the game. The solution for this is simple right now: do NOT use F12 at all when you want to restart the game.

This is a common issue for most (all?) RPG Maker VX games. It's kind of silly of me for taking it for granted that everyone knows about this issue. I'll update the game page with a reminder. Thanks again for playing and sharing your thoughts! :)
Never would've thought that this might be causing the issue.
Though reading this, I guess I'm partially at fault now because I do restart the game a lot via F12, it makes exploration easier and sometimes I can just restart when getting bad RNG in random fights, instead of wasting a lot of mana/items to heal.

Thanks again for the quick reply! Just entered the Ice Caverns earlier, I'll continue tomorrow and take a look at it. :)
I have downloaded the game and was playing it for several hours as it is very enjoyable. However, now I am stuck and not sure if I will be able to continue. I am in the Great Sea area of the game and I find that the game lag very badly there that I am almost unable to move at all. I don't think the problem is my laptop. Is there a way to reduce the lagging of the game in that part?

The game should run a bit smoother when there are less programs/apps running on your computer. I'm not sure if there's much else you can do. The game should run pretty fine unless you're using very old hardware (like 8-10+ years old). I've never tested the game on a laptop before though, but I don't think it should differ that much.

I may be able to make a version with slightly reduced lag. The only downside is that I'll be forced cut out some content from the game.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I played the entire game on my laptop, and didn't have any problems. My laptop is about 5 years old at this point too. So if your wondering how it plays on a laptop, it worked well, for me at least.
It's good to hear that the game worked fine for you, man. Even though the game may run fine on a PC/laptop, I'm fully aware of the potential lag the engine can cause.

Yeah, I don't think there should be much of a difference between playing on a PC or laptop. Age, specs and active programs/apps are usually what cause games like these to lag.

True, this script fixes lag, it may be the computer itself that may cause the lag for some people but this script is good to have anyway for good measure, it requires the basic module script for it to work, but it can have up to 500 events on a map moving around with no lag.
Maybe this can help.

https://victorenginescripts.wordpress.com/rpg-maker-vx-ace/anti-lag/
That script isn't compatible with the game since I used VX. Still, there used to be an anti-lag script for the game, but I had to get rid of it since it interfered with a lot of the other scripts that I was using.

Thanks for the offer though, buddy!

Oh! Lol I forgot this was made in VX lol. Sorry about that lol.
No problem, man! I really appreciate your kind offer to help out! :)
Tried to extract the game after downloading it.

It said "Failed to extract."

Deleted the game then downloaded it again after 15 mins or so.

"Failed to extract" hit me once again.

GG.
What download did you chose? What OS are you using?

Sorry for the inconvenience.
This post has been hidden by the game developer. Click here to show the post anyway.
OS is Windows 7.

Download was Castle Oblivion without RTP.
Hmm, that's really strange. I'm also Windows 7 user and I just tried it and it worked as intended. Just to make sure that we're on the same page, you did download the full version of the game, right?

Link to full version without RTP: https://rpgmaker.net/games/7548/downloads/7710/

Also, do you have the VX (NOT VX Ace) RTP installed on your PC? A lot of people mistake the two for being the same program/engine.

In case you haven't installed the RPG Maker VX (NOT VX Ace) RTP, here's a link: http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download/additional/run-time-packages
I will try it out when I get back home from work.

Thanks mate!
