Over two hundred years ago, the five heroes defeated the god of darkness; Ragnarok, in a climactic struggle for the fate of the world. Banished back to the realm of darkness known as the Abyss, the threat of the evil god had finally been put to rest once and for all...or so they thought.

Umbral Soul follows the story of Ragnarok’s loyal servant, Pandora, who joins her master in a quest to conquer the world and reclaim his lost power. In order to shroud the world in eternal darkness, they will have to find and recruit new allies, build an army of powerful monsters, and raise a force strong enough to crush anyone who dares to oppose them. Heroes, generals and rival overlords all stand against them. Do you have the power to make the world yours?

Pandora
A powerful dark sorceress with the ability to call forth monsters from the Abyss and enslave them to her will. Her burning hatred for the world and its people leads her to follow Ragnarok with unwavering loyalty.

Ragnarok
The god of darkness, who seeks dominion over the human realm. Once an extremely powerful being in the form of a monstrous demon, he has now been reduced to a mere soul. He wishes to plunge the entirety of the human realm into darkness, in part out of spite for his counterpart; the goddess of light, Lumielle.

Lanith
Beautiful, deadly, and self absorbed to a tee, Lanith is a succubus with a never ending hunger for the lifeforce of men. Having served under Pandora since she was only a child, she has a knack for getting under her skin, and does so whenever the opportunity arises.

Damien
A deeply twisted and sadistic young man, Damien loves nothing more than manipulating others and watching them squirm. While he has kept his true nature a secret, Ragnarok’s uprising marks the perfect opportunity for him to cut loose and have some fun...by killing as many enemies as possible.

Azrielle
The lord of all demons, who is fiercely loyal to Ragnarok and possesses an extreme, seething hatred for humanity. After failing to aid his master in conquering the world the first time, he has no intention of repeating the same mistakes again.

I'm back, baby!

Hey everybody, hope you've been doing well. I'm pleased to say I was just recently discharged from rehab, so at long last after over a month I'm home. They ran a whole lot of tests on me and I had several surgeries, so I am finally no longer in danger of croaking. That means I'm finally free to double down on game development, when I'm not stuck sitting in some doctor's office that is. Thank you all for your well wishes, they went a long way towards improving my mental health through that strenuous time. Welp, that's enough chatter. I've got some game making to do.

Posts

le wild grasshopper appears xD i have been just lurking recently (i have notifications on for umbral soul so i don't miss anything), but as soon as i saw beta-ing being mentioned, i had to slide in the comments and volunteer again for it! do not forget me, senpai ^_^
idk why the comment posted twice, and idk how to delete it :(
Don't you worry grasshopper, I won't. And don't forget that my inbox is always open if you have any questions or want a second opinion on something. Thanks!
Beta testing? count me in i HAVE to know what happens
Hey Wheelman old fan of this game, any plans of a sequel?
Thanks Jay, I had a feeling you'd say that. I'm going to have to go back and look through all 57 pages of comments to see who volunteered before. Not looking forward to THAT let me tell ya.

Don't worry dgmn, the sequel's on the way. This was only ever meant to be half of a complete story, hence why there were so many unresolved story elements like Sullivan manor. All those questions will be answered in the sequel, which I've named Luminous Soul.
Huh?
This may end up not being that bad, but it certainly deserves mention.

This happened at the Cauldron when trying to "Evolve" Sagirus to help me in the battle at the "Dark Altar."
Azrielle was waiting outside the Altar when this occured.
Somehow or another I ended up with Azrielle permanently "stuck" in my summonable monster slot.

Unfortunately I have a bad habit of using the same save file over and over so I can't just back out of this one easily.
Any ideas for a fix?
This game has been pretty cool, so yeah, It would be worth a restart down the road if needed.

Oops.
Sorry for not paying attention but my guess is that at some point we gain a 4+ 1 summonable member party.

I just woke up...

For most of the game your party's set at 3 members and 1 summon, so it sounds like something wonky's going on. If you lik,e I can take a look at the file for you. I have an editable version of the current download of the game available just for situations like this. Just say the word and I'll send you my email, then you can send me your save file and I'll fix it up for you. It should be a simple matter of removing a party member and flipping some switches.
Thanks Wheelman, it's not just wonky, it's "Donkey Wonky."
Still playable and even an advantage so far, but tricky to shuffle the party around.I do foresee an eventual gamebreaker on the horizon.

If I had paid for this game (And I would) you would receive 10 stars out of 5 possible for customer service.
6's or better for everything else.
So the is "Word" is "Uncle".

What do I do next?
I spose' I gotta start edumacating myself on how to email a save file.
Well, at least it sounds easier than flippin a switch.
Hey awesome game. Just downloaded it a few days ago.

I am stuck though. The first time you get to Azrielle's castle, I'm stuck.

I beat Azrielle. I then roamed around and recruited Gryger in the monster kennel.

The next step is to talk to Azrielle according to the quest log to continue. When I go back to Azrielle's throne room, there is no other option except to change party members when I talk to him. When I talk to Azrielle it keeps just showing options to swap characters. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Being able to recruit Gryger at that point is a rather annoying glitch that's messing up the eventing. If you don't have a save file from before that point you can continue from, I can manually fix your save for you.

I don't have a save file from before...

It would be awesome if you could fix my save file.

Where should I send it to?

Cheers

Pretty sure. Somebody check my pulse to be safe.
i found a bug in the capital sometime a switch party member to saw different scenes link to party vs odin anda walktrouth boss map when i sitch marcus with azzriele and dmien 3 time and it raiing in abyss castle with teleport
Don't worry, there are about a billion bugs that I've fixed thanks to the reports of many helpful players, so the ones you mentioned have already been taken care of. Thanks to some feedback, I've also made some general improvements to make certain tasks less of a chore. For example, in the final version, you'll be able to use Demon Draughts successively instead of one at a time.
This was a pretty awesome game, that is for sure.

And while completely unintentional, let me just say. As someone who also played The last Sovereign, the specific guy who heard the Goddess's voice had me laughing due to the coincidence.
