Love and War is a tale taking place on the world of Terra. Ever since the birth of the first nation-state on this world, Terra has been wracked by the scourge of war. Five nations managed to survive throughout the ages, yet it seemed as though with each passing day, humanity slipped closer and closer to self-annihilation.

One man made a difference, however. The youthful Emperor of the Zion Empire, Geraud Valtemond, was this man. A brilliant, honorable, and benevolent monarch, he managed to open the eyes of the leaders of the other nations, showing them what lay ahead if Terra persisted down this road. Through diplomacy and sheer force of will, Lord Geraud created the Commonwealth; an international governing body, comprised of democratically elected representatives and Peacekeeping Forces, which would forever make war a thing of the past.

Three centuries have elapsed, and people have forgotten the lessons of the past. Tensions are rising between nations once again, and it seems as if the Commonwealth is powerless to do anything but watch as its order crumbles. Can one man make a difference, once again?

Nathan, the feather is obtained by doing a side-quest at Ozunhold Castle.

To do this: after defeating the Gorn Jabola, visit the Military Academy at Lorean. You'll meet a minister called Sir Cornelius Fairfax there, who will offer you a reward if you can clear out a ruined fortress called Ozhunhold. Accept, head to Ozunhold (it's north of Lorean on the World Map), and defeat the bird boss (the Crowled Eagle) there. Be warned, that is one angry bird. As a prize for defeating him, you get the Crowled Feather.
I only found the one from Easton LOL looks like I missed quite a lot, and I picked the wrong choice with Ridane obviously.
Whoo, looks like I am going to replay the game soon. I actually loved the voice acting, especially with Ryan and Juno
Congrats to all those who completed Act I! Glad you enjoyed your time in the Kingdom of Galvenia. :)
Finished. I think this is one of the best rpg I ever played. Good work Admiral Style! ^--^
Thanks, Nathan! Happy you had a good time. :)
Happy New Year's everyone, let's hope the Admiral pumps out Episode 2 sometime soon with the same voice actors :-DD
I forgot to post this after finishing for the third time I've played a diffrent version besides the few problems I had and I have mentioned before. Why when you remade this to be so much more beautiful you still use so many scattered resources conflicting with the game, (facesets mostly) mainly the ones for random people but Jesus it's so offputting.

The voices are diffrent, they range from good to making me laugh, Juno's is perfect though 100% spot on to how I imagined him and I love his theme. I still question the storypoint where Ryan beats Juno in a swordfight when Juno is obviously the stronger and more skilled of the two in the final battle Ryan is the weakest of the 3 and pretty much only found him useful to use items to keep the party alive and full mana. Sad, I really wanted to play the game. but it does not work for me. Might be a thing with rm2k games and win8 :\

Sorry to hear that GoneWind, I have heard that a few people with Windows 8 have had trouble with RM2K games. :( Is there any error message in particular that might give us a clue?

Thanks for replying.
Sorry for the late answer...

The error messege was:
"???? 'RPG_RT.exe' ???? 00403441 ???? F28B562B ????Reading?????????"

The crash happens only after 3 screens ("ASCII"+Something in japanese+"Development by...".

I thought it is me lacking RTP so I downloaded it, but it didn't help.

OK, I managed to solve this problem.
I'll try to explain so other people won't have the same issue I had.

Windows 8 seems to have two inherent problems with rm2k.

(a) The first problem is going to full screen mode, which causes the game to crash with the error: "DIRECTDRAW ERROR (DDERR_UNSUPPORTED)".
You can find the solution to this problem here: http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/10204/
The little program by "Cherry" works wonders.

(b) The second problem (which was what caused LaW to crash for me) is quite simple and annoying- windwos 8 seems to have no ability to play midi. In some games there won't be any music (sound effects will be present since they don't use the midi format). In windows XP there was a program that dealt with midi, so the RM2K games are trying to call for this program, which does not exist.

The solution to this requires two things:
1) A program that can run midi: http://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/virtualmidisynth
Be aware that you need to download a soundfont as well (you can find a list of those in the link I put above).
2) A program that sets your system to open midi files via the new program you just downloaded: http://www.benryves.com/products/vistamidi
I know it's called vista midi control, but it works perfectley fine for win8.

After you download both of those programs, you should open virtual midi synth and choose the sound font you wanted, than open vista midi control and choose virtual midi synth as your main program for midi files.

credit to this site (and an explanation that is more accurate than mine, but a bit technical): http://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/blog/2013/03/what-happened-midi-mapper-windows-8

This solved my problem.

Edit: Here is a nice tutorial for virtual midi synth:https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/midkar/conversations/messages/34524

Edit2: It seems you need to lower down the music a bit so you can hear the sfx and the voice actors. You can do it easily- after you open the game, look for a new systray icon called "CoolSoft VirtualMidiSynth - 1.9.0 (x86)", double click it and it will open a midi mixer, you can lower all music under master (or just certain parts of the music). Lower the "master" one untill you can her sfx.
Just wanted to say "Problem Solved".
Edited my last comment with the solution.

(Sorry if double post is a problem, I just wanted to make sure Admiral Styles is aware that there is a solution for the problem)
That's great news, GoneWind! Thank you very much for sharing your discovery with us - I shall go ahead and make a blog post to inform any others who've had trouble with Windows 8 and RM2K games. :)
Just finished the game and it was really fun and cute. I just checked the demo for act 2 and tried transfering the save file. Questions:

1) Many of the stuff I possessed in act 1 seem to appear as "blanks" in act 2. They didn't disapear, as I still have 13 or 1 or 4 of them, but they seem like they are not useble, just there, which is kind of funny (one of them is the skill progress item from act 1).
2) What I do strangely possess are two version's of Eramond's Legacy (33 of one version, and 3 of the other XD), one version actually slightly stronger than the other. I also possess "THE SWORD OF THE FALLEN GODS", a ridiculously strong weapon (500+ of every stat... and I have 2 of those!).
3) I also lost 2 skills to the blank plague, which is not so horrible, considering I never used them (wild shot and random buff).
Glad you enjoyed it, GoneWind. :) As for the older Act II demo, I'm afraid the save from the latest version of Act I isn't really compatible with it (all sorts of strange things may happen, switches being thrown that shouldn't be, items that ought not to exist, and so on), so I'd strongly suggest loading the default save provided if you want to play the demo. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you, will do :)
Hey, sorry to randomly ask this, but I just started up the game, and as I'm trying to jump down the cliffs in the beginning with Kaleb. I jump the first one just fine, but once I get down the to the second cliff, I can't go anywhere. I become stuck and I don't know how to progress. Is this a glitch or am I missing something?
I believe at that point you need to jump to the left, which you should be able to do by examining the edge of the cliff (by pressing Z/Space Bar). Hope that helps!
Just finished the game. I've only recently gotten into RPGMaker games (around a month or so ago) and this has got to be one of my favorites. Below are comments and questions.

Comments:
1. The music in the title screen was from Wild Arms 2, right? I knew I'd love the game the moment I heard it.
2. Regarding the voices: My opinions on them vary greatly. I loved the voices of all the girls, but didn't particularly care for the voices of some of the guys. The fact that some voices are really soft compared to others was also a bit distracting.
3. This is just a minor complaint, but some games have an item that can usually be used to check what your current quest is in case you forget. The lack of such an item made things difficult for me when I took a week long break from the game.
4. Juno's sprite being Hiei was kinda........ I mean, I woulda been okay with it if he were a minor character, but the fact that he's important makes this weird for me.

Questions:
1. What is up with the "SWORD OF THE FALLEN GODS"? I mean, I can see that we get it after talking to that weird girl at the peak, but it's just strange (funny, but strange). Is it just to make the fight against Kodenai easier (considering there's no backing away from the fight and no way to train/restock on items)?
2. Is there any way at all to make it such that Lavie gets on that ship in the end? I doubt it, but in the event that there is, just confirm there's way without telling me what it is.

Anyway, great game. Can't wait for the next installment.
