Love and War is a tale taking place on the world of Terra. Ever since the birth of the first nation-state on this world, Terra has been wracked by the scourge of war. Five nations managed to survive throughout the ages, yet it seemed as though with each passing day, humanity slipped closer and closer to self-annihilation.

One man made a difference, however. The youthful Emperor of the Zion Empire, Geraud Valtemond, was this man. A brilliant, honorable, and benevolent monarch, he managed to open the eyes of the leaders of the other nations, showing them what lay ahead if Terra persisted down this road. Through diplomacy and sheer force of will, Lord Geraud created the Commonwealth; an international governing body, comprised of democratically elected representatives and Peacekeeping Forces, which would forever make war a thing of the past.

Three centuries have elapsed, and people have forgotten the lessons of the past. Tensions are rising between nations once again, and it seems as if the Commonwealth is powerless to do anything but watch as its order crumbles. Can one man make a difference, once again?

MGL Update!

Time for a bit of an update on Magical Girl Lavie! Boy, it's been a while and a half since the last update, and I must apologize for that. I've been planning on adding a news update for some time now, but was waiting on one particular thing to be completed... and well, that sort of thing can drag on for a while and a half, as you can imagine. Thankfully the stars aligned and I was able to assemble the pieces I needed!

So, how have things been going, with Magical Girl Lavie? Not bad, but progress has been - without question - uneven. In some areas it's a case of being limited by the budget, and only being able to afford a certain amount of progress every month. (Still, slow and steady, as they say!) In others, I'm a bit bottlenecked by certain elements not being ready, and holding up work on others. I suppose that's part of the joy and sorrow of game development? I do think that some of the biggest hurdles have been cleared though, and hopefully progress is going to be speeding up in the weeks and months to come. :)

Onto specifics, then! Here's a little clip of the latest version of the battle system in action. This is all super-pre-alpha stuff of course, with a lot of things subject to change, but the basic building blocks are here.

You may or may not have noticed that Lala is not controllable there. This wasn't my intention at first, but I think it could be an interesting idea. Should Lala, being Lavie's magical sidekick (and untargetable by enemies!) simple act independently? Should Lavie be able to give her general commands ("Keep us healed!" "Boost our defense!") as a half-way measure? Or would it be better to simply have full control over her actions? It's worth pointing out that while Lala cannot be targeted by enemies, if Lavie is knocked out, so too is Lala. Let me know what you think!

Finally, here's a look at some of the various bits of art our various artists have been working on. Starting out with Riklaionel and the battle system sprite art:

This enemy thought he was prepared... but Lavie's not packing a bow this time!

"I have the powerrrrrrr!"

The completed version of the above.

In-game character sprites, done by Hiddenone!

Face art and cutscenes by Nueajaa:

"I like it, but could you add a touch of maliciousness and a dash of vulnerability?" "OK!"

Face art of a couple minor characters.

Magical Knight Reinhardt enters the scene! Mary seems less then impressed, somehow...

Maps, by mapper Missnile!

Well, that should bring this little news update to a close. Hope you enjoyed, and as always, please feel free to let me know what you think!

ron 15:Go to the town where you fought the gorn jabola .There talk to some people. They will tell you about a girl.Go to the house and talk to the injured girl. You will find your way after that.

thanks
I don't wanna sound like a jerk sir/mam but having it as not an extractable .rar or thing people might become discouraged in downloading it the fact its a .exe with extract source its safer and we can scan it before fully downloading it not saying its virus infacted but many people will not download it because of it.
merchant42: I believe there once was a walkthru (of the older version, at least) but the webpage it was on seems to have gone done for good. Shame... If you're stuck anywhere though, feel free to post or e-mail for any help you might need. :)

MKnance: Hmm? I find that the .exe version is much more convenient and simpler to install, since I did used to get a fair amount of e-mail from people who weren't sure how to use zip files (and requiring people to download other software so they can download mine kinda seems like a drag if it's not necessary). It is of course virus free, so there's no need to worry in that regard. :)
I found a key next to his house whats it for?
well atless the info is out atless that its virus free so im pretty sure people will download it and so far its a fun game

Can you add link to act 2 beta if its open to the public in summary?
Spoiler

what level do you recommend with 3 compadrees to beat the 2nd wolf after juno cuts the log off to the other side i went straight to lvl 7 to try to beat it and the darn thing hits most of the chars for 50 crit usually and when he summons the two minions he wipes the floor with me i don't have the stuff to forge a better weapon nor the money to do it. any recommendations bc i screwed up and bought gear that was junk compared to other gear of the same thing. then once i figure out whats junk i sell it and really i need to know what lvl for that place is so what level you recommend i can solo it with nothing good gear wise?
MKnance:
Level 7 is not a bad level to be at when facing the Garun Wolf. (Remember, if you beat the first one, you can beat the second!) Certainly have Ryan use Rally to start with, and Henrik use Vigor (or Lionheart). Try experimenting with what skills you have - some of Henrik's can be very useful, Armin's Northern Lights is always decent for damage dealing (and Poison Dagger can work as well!). You may want to try using any of Ryan's special cartridges that you've found, though you may want to hang onto those as well. Your call. Make sure you have a good number of healing items, and consider taking out the cubs as soon as they appear, just to minimize your damage. If all else fails, try getting to Level 8 and trying again, although that shouldn't be necessary.
Admiral
well I got to lvl 10 and i got pass second wolf and got all the way to the hunt beast but this beast is very hard I attack it alot but in the end i get blinded to much and run out of stuff to heal with and it tends to do a crit that kills instantly one party member also what is the last senquence number in the garden i've gone to 420 and still can't find it btw whats the key by ryans house found near a cliff for i tried every door in town and idk what the key is for
MKnance: I can help you beat the beast. You should try and defend for the first few turns. If you survive long enough the beast will damage itself without you doing anything. Then heal yourself up.Don`t hesitate to use healing items. Experiment with various skills. Also use the special ammunition you found along your way.Good luck.
Sorry, but I can`t seem to remember the last sequence in the garden.Hope this is helpfull.
I'm actually stuck on that part... I have no clue where to go after he cuts the log...
MKNance: Yeah, Tonmoy98 has got some good advice for ya. :) As for the last sequence of numbers:
441. As for the key, you actually needed to return it to someone nearby, although unfortunately this was supposed to happen on Day 1, so it may no longer be possible. Oh well!

darksol:
Try backtracking a little bit, and taking an alternate route.
Where do I go after I defeat the worm queen? I just got Juno in my party and left the lorean mine.
darksol: Go to the town where you fought the gorn jabola .There talk to some people. They will tell you about a girl.Go to the house and talk to the injured girl. You will find your way after that.
Hi the names Kira. I'm new to the Rpg maker games and i downloaded this game and its really great. I have a question is there going to be a Love and War Act 2? If there any games like this one or are horror/puzzle games i would like to know Thank u.
Hey there, Kira. Glad to hear you enjoyed Act I. :) There's indeed lots of work to be done, but I have no intention of ending the series here if I can help it! As for other games, you can search for the genres you like quite easily here at RMN. Just click on "Games" at the top left, then go to tags and select, for instance, "Horror" or "Puzzle", then click on Apply. Hope you find something fun!
In terms of estimated hours, how long does this game take on average?
Ah, that's a little tricky to say with certainty. Somewhere around ten to fifteen hours, perhaps? Probably more, if you're the type to "stop and smell the roses", by talking to people, reading books, completing sidequests, and so on. :)
