SpellcraftQuill, I love the old-school vibe your game gives! Although your maps look a bit empty.. especially that town shot. Maybe you could spice them up a bit?
Anyways, here's a shot from the game I tried to get into that 10 grand competition. Nowhere near complete :( That's okay though as I got more n more ideas for this project and it would have felt very barebones if I released it with my original plans.

^ dunno man, what's caring less than giving two middle fingers? That's what i'm seeing anyway :P no idea what's going on but looks interesting.
This Looks Like This Could Be The End For Capcom
author=NewBlackauthor=IsrieriDevil May Cry was obviously the spiritual successor to the G&G franchise.
Will someone make a modern Ghouls n' Ghosts game, at long last? That's all I care about.
Actually that would be Maximo and it's sequel on PS2, Maximo even got remixed songs from ghosts n goblins and you get to run in your underwear, not to mention they're difficult.
Anyways, i'm the last capcom man standing apparently, i'm gonna be fan of their's til the very end. Although I have mixed feelings as of lately. Most of my favourite capcom franchises are getting spiritual successors from original developers that seem to surpass capcom products. We already got Bayonetta (new DMC), Evil Within (new resident evil) and Mighty no 9 (new megaman) That doesn't leave much for capcom to do...

zephire98, i think that's pretty nice mapping within a more simplistic style, especially if this's your first project! If you're looking for ways to improve your map, you could always clutter empty spaces with random stuff, i hear that's cool. I'd recommend making your maps special some way. Have points of interest, things unique to only that map, for example a townsquare with it's floor tiles forming a pattern or something.
NOACCEPTANCE772, i like it! Almost like a cellshaded look. Reminds me of Ghost Trick for some reason. Although the lighting on that dude's hair looks a bit wrong and odd.

E3 2014
i was surprised at how interesting stuff nintendo got in store. Definitely made me consider WiiU, even though chances are i'll never get one as PS4 is still on my to-buy list and I got very limited budget these days...
bloodborne has me super excited, it's the game i was looking forward the most. Looks like a mix between Dark Souls and Nightmare Creatutes, which sound wonderful.
Mortal Kombat X and The Evil Within caught my attention as well.

^ that's genius! I need to try that one too. Although you need a newbie player for that to be real fun. After the first playthrough, these games are not that difficult anymore.
2014 Indie Game Development Contest: $10,000 Grand Prize!
I believe I took a bite a bit too big with this one. I can't help but look at how little graphics I've done so far and compare it with remaining days.
I've been at it pretty much every day now. It doesn't help to have a full time job and random house chores along side. Not to mention i've got all the weekends planned with other stuff.
Well even if I miss the mark, I'll have a game well under way for later release...

Who's your favorite videogame character?
Hmm.. I'd probably say Dante from Devil May Cry series. Although he is a bit different in every game he appears in and I'm not a fan of all his iterations.
DMC3 Dante is my favourite videogame character.

^ that is a nice mountain area. But you're missing that pile of rocks! :-O Is this some FFV remake you're making?
LockeZ, well you sure got my inspirations right, so in a spiritual sense, yes, they are Gau and Simba's mother.
Actually I did have Gau in mind when making the main character as I had just been looking at Yoshitaka Amano's artbooks. While making the sprite and sketches of the character, I tried not to look at anything Gau-related to prevent further similarities. But now that you said it, the sprite ended up looking exactly like Gau! >_<
...meh, his sketches and concept art are still quite different I believe, so I'll probably leave it be.

Most of the times you can read a warning message, left by your fellow gamers, before getting stabbed in the back by those goons. Without seemingly cheap tricks, the message system would become reduntant.
Also in Souls-games' defence I have to say that you really need to play for a longer period of time before it clicks in most cases. I've borrowed Demon's Souls for a few of my friends and they always struggle for a couple of days/weeks before understanding the core mechanics. One guy became as big of a fan as I am, other guy still got the game after 6 mounths and seems to have given up on it. So i guess it's not for everyone...
