Luna Engine should include a script called "YEA Compatible" which specifically makes it work better with the Yanfly scripts.

It may or may not work though, and some Yanfly scripts don't play well with Luna Engine at all. Shop Menu and Battle Victory wouldn't cooperate with me even with the compatibility script.

Still, give it a try if you haven't already!

I see no reason to not just include it in the base game. It's not like you're committed to a specific release date.

So do weapons still grant static stats or is it all handled by the Stat +X% effects?

Don't try sphere grids. They're nothing more than a glorified stat assignment system. They aren't worth the time they take to set up and debug.
