BD_DESIGN'S PROFILE

Just another ex-gaming industry hopeful, going to school and learning as much as I can. I don't think making a game will directly affect my chances of getting a job, but it will teach me the process as well as organization, something I sorely lack. I'm no longer working for Zynga, which is too bad.

What else? I like Japanese food and cinema (but I'm not an otaku), CRPGs (of course), electronic music (90's Industrial FTW), Belgian ales, meat cooked over fire, 420, CGI, 3D animation, cats, SNES, subversive or black comedy, dystopian sci-fi, and any epic fantasy brave enough to step out of the Tolkien shadow.

My dislikes include all forms of bigotry, country music, fast food, factory farms, multinational corporations, warfare, social networking, romantic comedies (in general), and politics.

Players x Experts - Our attitude on playing games

The two secret ingredients in my award-winning chili.

Bad news: I have to Hiatus this game. :(

That's too bad. I too had authentication problems back when Protexis was handling it. That was not fun (they charged me six freakin' times and never answered their phones).

This could be an opportunity to work on the not-so-fun side of RPG Making. Work on the non-programming side of things, or do some research on Ruby scripting or effective mapping. You could also work on the story, or search for graphics and audio. Complete your database stuff (weapons, armor, items), so once you get everything up and running someday, you can just copy everything over.

Here's a link to a great development tool, a game design document template. It even tells you how to fill it in. Even if you decide not to use it, it gives you a rough idea of how to keep on track.

Tower of lies

lol Stevie Nicks

EDIT: Oops it was Fleetwood Mac (so close)

What was the last film you watched?

While RMN was down, I watched a few movies, including Big Man Japan. For the last 10 minutes of the movie I was literally on the floor, laughing with tears in my eyes.

Flyyyyyiiiiiing Niiiiiimbuuuuuuuus!

I_love_this_title_the_most.png

In the script editor there's an entry "Scene_Title." I haven't done much work with RGSS aside from breaking things, but I'd bet the coordinates for the menu are in there (lines 42 & 43 look promising). You should backup your entire project folder before you mess with it though.

Also, I believe title screens are 640 x 480, so I think the feet are going to get cut off.

This is shaping up. Before it was "nice" and "serving its purpose". Great Job!

That banner ad...

I got one saying, "There's a little bit of Israel in all of us."

I'm at a loss for words. =(

Sci-Fi Series'

One more, I couldn't remember for the life of me, Space: Above and Beyond.

Did you use that GIMP program?

No, I use Photoshop. But GIMP can do the same thing, if only a little differently (and a lot cheaper, LOL)

*Throws out concept art*

Don't do that! Concept art is just that, for concepts. Even if it doesn't work, you'll have fodder for future projects. Sometime I look at the crap I've done and suddenly see a way to tweak it.

The guy on the title screen is not the main character.

Hmmm. Well he's fine as he is. It would be easy to add main character portraits later on, if you ever found them. Anyways, don't spend too much time on this, you've got more important sections to work on. I just thought I'd give you some pointers while you're still impressionable. :)

lol, we have all been affected by the clown

Bart Simpson: "Can't sleep, clown will eat me."

The Amazing Jonathan: "Did you ever blow bubbles as a kid? Well he's back in town!" (points to creepy clown on the balcony)
